    Great pic to start the week as on Sunday afternoon I put in our first 5 tomato plants. Gonna space ’em out by a week or so to make sure everything doesn’t come in at once. Next, peppers – then cucumbers.

    Menagerie posted a great article on a sensitive subject close to my heart this evening. “For reasons” the comments section had to be closed before I could weigh in. Her post was very much needed and gave me answers to certain questions I have about a personal situation that might bring a special boy of a woman I care deeply for into my life. I’ve been praying about this and I still have so many questions about this topic. I’ll be double posting this in each of the daily threads not asking for anything other than prayers being answered and God’s will being done. Sorry so obtuse but someone plz thank Menagerie for me to have the chance to seek wisdom on this area. I fear she may have regretted sharing. It really did touch me though. Thanks again!

          I really hated to shut it down. I kept it open and just trashed stuff as needed until I went to bed. I tried really hard, in a nice way I think, to ask them to please not make the post about vaccines. It was just not going to be.

            The entire vaccines thing has taken on a life of its own. I appreciate that there are folks out there who don’t like them and won’t let their kids get vaccinated but if they’d kindly keep their opinions and diseases to themselves I’d be ever so grateful.

              I am totally open to finding out what causes autism. If that turns out to be vaccines or vaccine-related, then we can proceed accordingly. To blindly decide that, based on what happened to your sister’s kid, that it certainly was the shot that did it, and we need look no further, and push that belief on others based on pseudoscience, is both ignorant and evil.

              There have been multiple studies in multiple countries about links between vaccines and autism, and no direct link has been proven.

              The problem is that people take something they see as gospel and run with it forever without looking into the subject themselves. Some of the claims are no longer valid because the vaccine components have changed. Others, like aluminum, are still used, but we get more aluminum in our diet and water than we get or got from vaccines.

                Can’t help but remember the 70s-onward campaign to remove aluminum from cooking utensils as studies found aluminum in Alzheimers patients. One wonders if those folks stopped buying beer and soda in aluminum cans?

                I don’t think we can get down to the undoubtedly multiple causes for autism until we settle on a definition of autism. The ‘spectrum’ doesn’t seem to have boundaries so until we stop adding new examples I think we’re stuck .

                I am pro-vaccine…..but, I no longer trust the quality of the injections. We ARE getting vaccines (no scrutiny from officials here) from China. Considering some of the recalls of pet food over the years……….Haven’t narrowed the exact date yet when the “pre-Approved” China vaccines were allowed to come in……but….

                I have been aggressively campaigning against this to congress, and the White House. We’ll see, but I expect that, that import, will stop. Otherwise, why do we need our own FDA, with it’s extensive bureaucracy?!! grrr!

                  For a while, I think some of the drug companies stopped producing vaccines because of the threat of lawsuits. That may have contributed. The CDC has a list of the vaccine manufacturers, I believe.

      As the parent of an “aspie” I was delighted to see Menagerie’s post, I was truly disappointed to have not seen it before the comments were closed. I’m sorry you had to do that.

      I’m not rocket scientist but has anyone considered the simple evolutionary process might factor into the increase in Autism? There are on average eight genetically mutated cells with each birth, unless detrimental to the organism itself, they remain and are passed on to the next generation. Just thinking out loud in black and white and I know the “e” word tends to upset some and that’s never my intention.
      The scientific community regards such things as singular events, Religious communities regard such things as miracles, I’m not interested in arguing the difference, just looking for answers like everyone else. I hope no one takes offense.

      I was given a son
      He is handsome
      He is brilliant
      He is witty as any adult I know
      He is an aspie, and I’m very proud of him.

      For parents of young aspies reading this……..anything is possible for them, anything. In just under a month my son will receive his second degree black belt.

        My grandsons are awesome little guys. We all love them so much, and enjoy and treasure their unique personalities.

        My heart hurts because I am old enough to know that they face hard times, and that other kids can and will be cruel. I am concerned at what their future might hold. But the good Lord gave us two profoundly wonderful blessings when he gifted our family with them. None of us would ever give up a moment with them.

    News just had a piece on how developers are designing a floating city that would bobble about in the middle of the ocean. It would be self-sustaining, house about 10,000 people and be built to survive a Cat 5 hurricane. Oh yeah, I can see that, a chained series of platforms riding out 60-foot waves and winds north of 155 mph. “Don’t worry”, they say. “nothing can go wrong its the best engineering available!”. In my mind I see Bob Ballard’s grandchildren going out on a sea trek to find the remains of Atlantisville…

    Outside cat’s home from the vets, didn’t need an operation, appears only to have had a good (I use the word advisedly) bladder flushing. I picked him up in our usual large pillowcase (a wonderful cat carrier) and when I got into the car I let him out where he curled up in my lap for a few miles, stood with front feet on the dashboard for a few miles, slowly walked around without getting on the floor for a few miles then settled back into my lap for the rest of the trip.

    As soon as we turned into the driveway he perked up – don’t know why, it’s still a thousand feet to the house, but as I parked he stood up, rubbed against me and lightly hopped out…and the beagle /terror mix ran right over the top of him. It’s home again.

    Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

    Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
