    I found this easy recipe. Good for parties. Kiddo might like this with mini graham crackers or on a piece of brioche. Not sure what fruit or veg could be used though.

    Pumpkin Pie Dip

    I came up with this rich, creamy pumpkin dip when I had a small amount of canned pumpkin left in the fridge after my holiday baking. It’s also great served with sliced pears and apples, or as a spread on zucchini bread. β€”Laurie LaClair, North Richland Hills, Texas

    Prep/Total Time: 10 min.

    Makes

    4 cups

    Ingredients
    1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
    2 cups confectioners’ sugar
    1 cup canned pumpkin
    1/2 cup sour cream
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
    1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
    Gingersnap cookies

    Directions Beat cream cheese and confectioners’ sugar until smooth. Beat in pumpkin, sour cream and spices until blended. Transfer to a bowl; serve with gingersnaps. Refrigerate leftovers.

    The great thing about an Irish Blessing is you don’t have to be any part Irish to enjoy the benefits.

    My family was from Ireland–before several brothers went to Scotland and married Scot women in the late 1700s then came to these shores to settle first in Mississippi then Arkansas. Many fought, many were injured and some died in several wars, beginning with the Civil War. So an Irish blessing on you and all our wonderful veterans….

      Can’t be sure because of the angle of the shots but it sure looks like those power lines run right close, if not thru, trees. All of the hi-tension lines here run through widely cut clear lanes that are mowed short ans maintained – no trees, no scrub, no brush.
      Where they run thru farm or ranch lands, even tree farms, the ground under and to both sides of the lines is cut clear and mowed. Planting of seasonal crops and grazing is permitted but nothing permanent other than grass. It’s looking like these lines are way close or even into the trees.

        PG&E is pretty arrogant. If it can be proven that their lack of maintenance caused this fire, their officers and board should be indicted for negligence leading to deaths of citizens, loss of homes, businesses, and all flora and fauna. I hope this aspect is thoroughly investigated but am not holding my breath.

        President Trump is totally correct about California not doing its job in debris, forest, and hillside/mountain cleanup. Their “care” for illegal immigrants is much more important to the state. Criminals, all of them.

          Passing the buck perhaps? Wonder how the budgeted monies are used that the feds send for California to take care of federal land. One thing sure, we don’t want to turn over to Cali even one inch of federal land. They’d be building sanctuary encampments all over it.

          Firefighter union president rips Trump…
          Brian K. Rice, the president of the California Professional Firefighters, criticized President Trump on Saturday after he threatened to withhold federal payments to the state, claiming its forest management is “so poor.” The president made the comments as the state is battling multiple deadly wildfires.

          “The president’s message attacking California and threatening to withhold aid to the victims of the cataclysmic fires is ill-informed, ill-timed and demeaning to those who are suffering as well as the men and women on the front lines,” Brian K. Rice said in a statement.

          “Wildfires are sparked and spread not only in forested areas but in populated areas and open fields fueled by parched vegetation, high winds, low humidity and geography,” Rice said.

          He added, “Moreover, nearly 60 percent of California forests are under federal management, and another two-thirds under private control. It is the federal government that has chosen to divert resources away from forest management, not California.”

            If you remember, the disastrous Yellowstone fires of a few years back were attributable directly to the trash not being policed in many years. There’s also the issue that I read of in a report that when just about all of the native oaks in California were cut down they were replaced by both native and non-native trees and brush that were far more flammable than what they replaced.

              Yes, they had alk the beautidul oaks go down, pine coming in. And they say native everyrhing else. But we still have all the bark beetle destruction that hasnt been cleared up. PGE was given the green light along with socal edison to cut power at will. Also they get to charge the customers for reparing the lines after a fire. So why would they bother to maintain?
              I also saw a map overlay of the CA wildfires over the past few years and jerry brown’s train to nowhere which kind of sync up.

                The report, and I wish I could find it, said that there was enough oak to where the regular mast produced not only fed the forest animals but should have been sufficient to provide a diet for millions of ‘native’ Californians. When they were cut down for building, clearing farm/city lands, railroad ties, etc, the pines were heavily replanted as a fast turnaround crop as they are here.

          While the California pols have been out controlling every other factor in the state you’d think they could control something as large as PG&E unless…GASP…PG&E discovered the secret that politicians can be BOUGHT!!!!!!
          Everyone in the West is guilty of that, for the longest time they had the idea that by leaving things in their ‘natural’ state the forest would take care of itself, like it was before the evil Europeans arrived.
          Truth is that the Indians used to do controlled burns of forests, the first Europeans that saw the Eastern pine forests thought they were parks. We do controlled burns to prevent crap from building up and the same treehugging dorks that want the forests to stay ‘natural’ in the West whine about the smoke, CO2 and unspecified ‘damage to the environment’ here.

    This looks sooo good…

    Delicata Squash with Fresh Mint & Cilantro – Serves 8-10 as a side

    While there are many types of squash that we love, Delicata is a favorite, especially when making large quantities. The tender skin can be left on, making the prep about a million times easier than that of larger squashes. After roasting to a golden brown, the squash is topped with toasted seeds, warm shallots, a simple vinaigrette, and fresh herbs.

    Ingredients:
    β€’ 4 small–medium delicata squash
    β€’ extra virgin olive oil
    β€’ 3 medium shallots, thinly sliced
    β€’ 1 tbsp. each. toasted white sesame seeds and cumin seeds
    β€’ 1 small bunch each mint and cilantro
    β€’ 2 tbsp. sherry vinegar
    β€’ sea salt

    Method:
    1. Preheat the oven to 450Β°F.
    2. Cut each squash in half length-wise. Scoop out the seeds, then slice into half moons, about 1/2 inch thick. Toss with enough extra virgin olive oil to coat, plus a pinch of salt. Spread into a single layer on a sheet pan and roast for 20-30 minutes, turning once, until both sides are golden brown and caramelized.
    3. While the squash is cooking, toast the seeds and separate the herbs from stems. Set aside.
    4. When the squash is done cooking, leave the oven on but set squash aside, seasoning with extra virgin olive oil, sherry vinegar, and another pinch of salt to taste.
    5. Add the shallots to the pan, and roast for about 8 minutes, until they begin to brown.
    6. Toss together the seeds, fresh herbs, shallots, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
    7. To serve, layer the squash on large plate or platter and top with herb and seed mixture (you may have extra).

    Best served immediately. Squash can be roasted ahead of time and reheated, but the shallot and herb mixture is best made fresh.

    What Did YOU Accomplish?
    Punditry and citizen journalism were overwhelmed by voter stupidity and irrationality.

    https://quodverum.com/2018/11/314/what-did-you-accomplish-.html

    But what did YOU accomplish?

    I’m seeing the usual complaints about Democratic scorpions stinging. I call it the β€œLook what the bastards did now!” approach to commentary. What’s grotesque is that all those shrieking people had no impact on the elections. They just flapped their gums. Trump and Trump alone kept the Senate. The millions of words churned out before the midterms had no impact.

    When it was clear that the Democrats had taken the House, I was ready to walk away (yuck) from politics again. That’s because I didn’t understand Trump’s plan. He’s now explained it in two press conferences. The midterms got rid of Republicans who don’t embrace Trump’s common-sense, ruthlessly America-centered, non-ideological ideology. Unlike me, Trump factored in the stupidity of the voting public. He knew all along that he’d lose the House, so he campaigned to save the Senate.

    Trump is now in a BETTER position than he was before, because he has no reason to hold back. And the Democrats are helping him by making threats and promising to punish the country for electing Trump. I saw a video that illustrates what Trump is facing.

    Really if you’re so inclined read he article, as I and I believe most here believe, it is Wictor’s belief that Sessions was not in cahoots with President Trump nor is he dopey Opey nor a Deep State operative πŸ™„. Sessions had a job to do, as Sessions has proven he is an i dotter and a T crosser. Sessions has done his job.

    What is the best indicator of future behavior? Past behavior.

    Dot the i’s cross the T’s and get out of the way. Right now the Liberal puppets are enraged that Sessions is gone, this is an endorsement of the groundwork that Sessions has put into place.

    From Wictor’s article

    ”Punditry and citizen journalism were overwhelmed by voter stupidity and irrationality. I didn’t see that coming.

    But Trump did.

    Therefore I am now LESS interested in the thoughts of people who are not Trump. All that jabbering accomplished nothing. Trump by himself saved the Senate.

    As Thomas said I believe over a year ago, “I’ve delineated politics to Trump.”

    Bravo Thomas, bravo!

    It is still interesting to talk politics, essential to stay informed, to vote to hold those who we can hold accountable accountable, to encourage each other and to fight daily the good fight but President Trump is carrying the mother load of freedom on his back because he has knowledge and resources and instinct that we simply do not and cannot have.

    Prayer is our biggest weapon. President Trump is a man among men. We are winning.

    If

    If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;

    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
    Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

    If you can dream – and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think – and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;

    If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
    And stoop and build ’em up with wornout tools:

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;

    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with kings – nor lose the common touch,
    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;

    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run –
    Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
    And – which is more – you’ll be a Man my son!

    For Veteran’s Day I wanted something somber, but showed hope as well for today’s painting. I chose this painting by Sanford Robinson Gifford. It made me think of God reaching out to all those who went through hell in war, that are now going to Heaven…

    I have to go. I have not been sleeping well since the election. Things did not go well up here with the college students voting in regressives. I do not want my beautiful state I love destroyed. I hate voter fraud. I have now been able to start working behind the scenes to stop it, but the work being done was not enough this time. Sorry to be Debbie Downer, and I mean absolutely NO disrespect, but this is for the most part a bloodless war of deceit that is being waged in our country. The opposition could not win an outright physical battle, so now they fight by deceit and lies.

    My eye appointment is tomorrow morning, so I may not post.

      When students are not allowed to learn but are only indoctrinated, then the citizenry is diminished in spirit and truth. It’s going to be a long slog taking our country back…like starting over at the grass roots. Placing school boards once again in the hands of people who love America and respect our Constitution is a must.

      It’s a struggle for Conservatives to remain in the marketplace of ideas since the media and the left is so very organized and hugely funded..but struggle we must.

    I was at the protest outside Tucker Carlson’s house. Here’s what actually happened.

    https://thinkprogress.org/i-was-at-the-protest-outside-tucker-carlsons-house-heres-what-actually-happened-665c2dc0cb67/?utm_campaign=trueAnthem:+Trending+Content&utm_content=5be6dd6904d3012ad0c72d84&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=twitter

    About a dozen protesters visited Tucker Carlson’s home Wednesday evening with signs, a megaphone, and a tambourine.

    The incident, video of which was taken offline shortly after being posted, has prompted an aisle-crossing outcry – fueled in part by Carlson’s own significant embellishments of what occurred while he wasn’t home. I was there for the entirety of the 10-minute demonstration, and can report in detail what actually happened.

    A group numbering 13 or 14 protesters trailed by four protest observers, some in the bright green hats often worn by trained First Amendment legal observers when monitoring police-protester interactions, walked up Carlson’s street just after dark on Wednesday.

    One of the protesters knocked firmly on Carlson’s front door three times then trotted back down the steps to join the rest of the group in the street. This person did not throw their body against the door, as Carlson has claimed to newspapers.
