Today’s vacation state is Wyoming. So many interesting and beautiful things to see there, including Yellowstone National Park, Devil’s Tower and Grand Teton National Park.

      I started watching this linked one and was hooked. I looked at his site and have subscribed. I think that’s the only site in the entire internetz that I’m subscribed to. I don’t know how else not to lose track of it.

      My 52 two year old son who lives south of Denver is an open road biker with a fine Harley. He’s actually president of the group he’s with. He’s the only fer real biker I know in my life but this guys talks like him, enjoys the open road like him.

      I’ve forwarded the link(s) to him. I think he will enjoy it. He doesn’t get to Sturgis every year and will not be getting there this year so he might enjoy riding along with this guy.

      A slice of real life.

      I was in Sturgis during the rally one year. Unintentionally. I was driving from MN to Denver to our son’s and decided to take the scenic route, which took me through Sturgis. In spite of the timing and my arriving late evening, I was able to get a good motel room – and before I left the town (it wasn’t Sturgis – it was a nearby town on one of the state highways that linked me down into Colorado) the next morning, I stood there and tried to soak up that Harley hum that filled the air, like distant thunder. Oh, my. I have always been glad I stumbled into that context as I would surely never have done it deliberately!

        Even though the town I stayed in wasn’t Sturgis itself, the surrounded towns are all filled-to-the-brim during the Rally with Sturgis attendees. I was a little concerned, being there as a lone female, of course – but every single biker-bunch I encountered (including those I rode the elevators with) were completely courteous and considerate.

        I know that is the persona that Jon’s group requires of its members, all ex-Marines (even though I know there is no such thing). If any of them act like jerks in relating to other people, whether other biker groups or the general public or LEOs, let’s just say – they are dealt with.

          One weekend when we were traveling to race we stopped at a truck stop to get diesel and the parking lot was full of bikers. They all had Bandidos vests except for a few with training vests on or at least that was the patch on them. Two of them with in training patches left their bikes at the gas pump after finishing pumping. One of the other guys came over and you could tell he was angry, he pointed at the bikes, pointed at them and then pointed out to where the rest of the bikes were parked. They almost ran back to their bikes and moved them and then came back and apologized to the gentleman who had been waiting in line behind them.
          I ran in to go the bathroom and as I was coming out, one of the older guys yelled at the guy nearest the door and then another one apologized that he didn’t act like a gentleman.

          So they may be an outlaw gang, but they run a tight ship.

            Yeah – the Bandidos are what they are – and my son has described the very careful outlines of how other biker groups relate/or don’t relate to them, keeping some clearance.

              I always talk to the bikers, because they’re always nice. They recently had a fundraiser for a young man’s family who passed away after a motorcycle accident, leaving behind his wife and a toddler and new baby. All different clubs participated in it and I didn’t see one who was not nice and respectful. Some didn’t like them all taking over the small town and thought they were going to be smoking pot and shooting guns in the road. I think many of them came away that they’re not drug addicts and axe murderers.

                The club my son works with has a fundraising ride every year where the funds are designated for some family with cancer that they have become aware of – not necessarily a family that has any direct connection with the bikers. It’s often a child – and on that day, if the child is able to be present, they are present, they get motorcycle rides, they are celebrated and hugged.

                  I see them doing that as well. This young man wasn’t involved with any club, but was a neighbor to one of the bikers. They came from all over the country.

      I’ve put Rick up I believe here and definately next door a number of times. There was a number of us who believed that the first WTC attack was a failed mission that was to beresumed and when the Bohinka plot was foiled. One of the top plotters in Bohinka told investigators about a Ramzi Yousef cell in the US that planned on crashing airliners into US buildings in the DC area and later evidence showed buildings in other US cities including NYC were also targeted.
      The FBI received this intel in January 1995, fewer than 2 years after the first WTC attack (had someone at the CTH a few years back say to me “What 1st WTC attack?”) by Ramzi Yousef. It was all over the Fed intel lines too, the FACT that the guy who was responsible for the 1st WTC attack was working with a Philippine al Qaeda cell that included OBL’s brother-in-law that was working on flying planes into buildings in NYC and DC, some six years before it happened on 911, was known. The US government had six years to stop the plot.
      If you go back to the official Federal blathering on the 1st attack you’ll see that the Bureau had eyes-on the mosque the attack originated from and an inside guy but, excuse the pun, they blew it. They had the information and Rescoria, having an MI background, had worked it out too. He’d warned his employers and when they ignored his warnings he started practice evacuation drills. Morgan Stanley ignored his warnings and the FBI basically ignored the intel they had, this was no sur prise it was a massive bureaucratic failure. Rick saved a lot of people but had the right people charged with public safety have done their jobs there’d have been a lot fewer deaths.

      I think the good thing about this ongoing fight is it’s brought the rteasonous Rats out of the underbrush for all to see. The eight years of Obama trying to unbdermine the country and Constitution shaped the fight between traitorous Left and the American right and this is bringing it to a deeper clarity. There’s a large middle ground that’s going to have to choose, get run over or pick a side.
      The Rats have tried to import masses of non-Americans in hopes their lack of knowledge and appreciation of Ameica, democracy and our base valuyes. Thdey’re promiosed a free ride at the expense of working Americans, the Rats want us to pay for our own destruction.
      Let’s pray that Trump gets a second term as that should give the Americans in Congress the chance to rip the scab off of this long festering Leftist carbuncle on the body American.

        The lady who shared the article to a Oklahoma Conservative group is one of those Cruz supporters who still can’t get over it. She’s as bad as the rats thinking Mueller is going to lead Trump out of the WH in cuffs any day now.

          Some of those Cruz supporters are really whacked. He seemed to attrack the white religious nuts out of the selection of voters. And just like blacks who refuse to admit Obama had any faults, they are the same way about Cruz.

          In all fairness I have to say I think there are plenty of President Trump’s supporters who act the same way. Over at the tree to even ponder whether or not one insignificant action of President Trump is right or wrong is to risk being hounded by a dozen people screaming troll in their online voice.

          Lots of people on the right are really screwed up too. Today’s world seems like it is all or nothing. People seem to expect you to never deviate from the ideology or you are their enemy. Such thinking, even when I am mostly in agreement with them, gets my back up.

            I agree, Cruz supporters were worse than liberals. I’ve had liberals not be as rude and vulgar as some of them were to me. Some still don’t speak to me today.
            Some Trump supporters are just as bad, I never expected to agree with Trump on everything, heck I don’t think there is a person alive I agree with all the time. Yet, a few things he’s said and if I dare breathe I don’t agree or don’t like it, it’s like I just told them their baby is ugly. lol

            I supported Cruz and still do, but he didn’t win the nomination. Nothing to get over and yes, the nuts are on both sides. Hard to have conversations with people that hold a very narrow view. ( I don’t mean that to be directed at you menage) Like you said, they are on both sides.

              Yeah, seems we sorta did that in the Constitution but times change.
              News and city have taken the latest black-on-black mass shooting to bury the story about the two NOPD officers fired and charged with assault after they beat the hell out of a Latino US vet for wearing a como t-shirt in a bar. Phew, nothing like a murder to take the spotlight off of NOPD’s crimes.

        There are two Hispanic bakeries I pass a lot. Like just about every other food business I see that has it’s name and signs up in Spanish you can sure read the one that says Food Stamps Welcome.

        I would be willing to bet the vast majority of those who speak Spanish as their native tongue and get food stamps are citizens.

          Illegals have been given a fasttrack to ‘food stamps’and other safety net items. I don’t think we can get real numbers on the citizens versus illegals as it’s not in the enablers; best interests to do so. Under Obama the gates were opened for illegals and the POtuS team members signed them up for gift bags.
          I think you’d have to go area by area as you have different Latino groups predominating in different areas but again, I’m not betting on anyone getting an accurate count.

    Today’s painting is Girl with Seashell at Beach by the famous painter Jessie Wilcox Smith:

    These may not be seashells, but the pretty pink look of flowers of the next two creatures seemed to go with the painting. The first of these 3 Blaschka’s is Bougainvillia fruiticosa, so I’m guessing I’m not the only one that thinks it looks like flowers!

    This Tubularia indivisa broken Oaten Pipe Hydroid also looks like beatiful flowers – wasn’t there a Dr. Seuss illustration like this?

    This last Blaschka sea creature, the Melibe australis – Southern Melibe, really does look like it came from a Dr. Seuss book, and not reality, but it is real!

      On our dry pastureland in NE MT, we had something we called Canadian thistle that looked something like that – thorny, tall, with pink flowers. They were a plague if they got in the edges of the fields and got picked up by the combine during wheat or oats harvest.

        Sharon, I have been plagued with Canadian thistle for several years now, and just this year found a weed killer that actually works on it! It takes a couple of weeks to completely kill the plant, but it is the real deal. Called Thistle Down by Monterey Lawn & Garden Products (in case anybody is interested). It’s not cheap, but worth every cent.

          We have this weed that is some kind of mint and it totally takes over and the animals won’t touch it. Finding something that kills it is not easy, we finally found one thing that works, but you have to repeat it every few weeks. We’re slowly getting it killed out, but I think it will be years before we totally eradicate it.

          My Grandma’s hundred year old cookbook has a section on housekeeping, where it says that to kill an ant colony, pour a bucket of boiling water into the nest and stir well.

          I’m thinking a modern day steam cleaner would work well, too.

          If it works for ants, perhaps it will work for weeds – steam the roots in place!

        PS: Canadian thistle originally came from Russia, I read somewhere or other. It’s a nasty weed with roots that go many feet under ground. If you pull them, they become even more vigorous, putting up new shoots that grow like wild fire.

          Noxious weed – Canada Thistle

          Canada thistle has an extensive root system so it is very difficult to get rid of. Each plant has a fibrous taproot along with wide spreading horizontal roots.

          Each small section of root can form a new plant which helps the weed to spread quickly. They can also spread by seed.

          The seeds are small, light brown and tufted for dispersal by the wind. Another reason this thistle is on the list, the seeds remain viable in the soil for over 20 years! That means that the seed can sit in the dirt for several years and wait for the right conditions to grow.

          Canada thistle can grow 2 to 5 feet tall and are split between male and female plants.

          Canada thistle invades natural areas, like prairies, especially if there has been some disturbance to the soil already. Once it is established, it spreads quickly and displaces native plants, growing in circular patches t hat can spread 10 to 12 feet in one season. It has been declared a noxious weed in 43 states and is one of the most tenacious agricultural weeds.

          Yeah – we had another one (more prevalent) called the Russian thistle, but it was just basically the round tumbleweed type thing that rolled along, once it had dried up. The Canadian thistles were an entirely nasty, different type of animal.

    Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

    Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

    Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

    Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
    Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

    We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
    Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

    In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

    Yesterday I gave a bike to a kid who had to walk an hour and a half to get home, at midnight. I looked at him, determined I could trust him, and said, “Here, take my bike.” It’s a nice bike, too, like $400.00 out the door, and my favorite mode of transport. He brought it back, like I knew he would, at 12:30 today. I trusted him, and I was right to do so. Now his bossman knows he’s trustworthy.

    On Sunday I “loaned” $60 (I’m poor, see) to a black dude who said he needed to feed his kids. Because of course he said that to a nice, gullible mark like me. I’ll never see that money again, and I know it. This guy now keeps turning up like a bad penny, and is the most deceitful person I’ve ever met. Pseudo-religious jargon comes out of his mouth all the time, about “Blessings” and stuff, all the time. I have discernment, in spades (no pun). The guy is a snake. He came back the next day to retrieve a bike I’d been storing for him in landlord’s shed, telling me he needs to sell it to the bike store in order to, naturally, feed his kids, and said it was worth $1200.00. Bull crap. Liar. Later that day, he comes back on a nice motorized scooter. I looked at it and him, like “WTF?”. He said he got it online, and from California, one week shipment. He’s lying, and I can tell. He obtained it somehow, but he told me he paid $1100 for it. Why is he “borrowing” money from me and everyone else if he can afford to buy that thing? He was literally pounding his chest like a proud gorilla (no racism intended), because he had this nice-a** scooter. With no tags. I’m not a mark. Then he tried to ask me for ten bucks so he could put gas in it. I told him, “I have nothing, dude. I’m in between jobs. You think because I’m a white guy I’m rich?” Tonight he was rolling up in my back alley, on that tagless scooter, looking for a half a BLUNT he thinks he lost in my alley. Really? Tell me he bought that scooter with his money. It’s been a very strange week. I hope whoever’s scooter that really is gets it back.

    Tonight I gave my favorite raincoat to a girl who works next door at a clothing shop. She was very grateful, as she has a two-mile ride on her bike, and I know I’ll get that raincoat back tomorrow.

    It’s been a strange week. I bet this mofo shows up tonight.

      I told that girl, when I gave her the raincoat, that there may be some weed in the pockets, and that I didn’t check. She said, “There won’t be in the morning.”

        He didn’t show up last night. Maybe because I texted him:

        I’m not someone to be preached at. I’m not a Mark, either. And nobody on this block, let alone this city, trusts you. Go find Marks elsewhere. And though I once, for a minute, considered you my brother, you’re not. I’m no mark. Don’t come back.

        I told former bossman yesterday, “When you get a new prospective hire? Send him over to me, to hang out for three days. That’ll be the interview, and I’ll tell you if the person is trustworthy or not.” I trusted him on day one. By day three, I wanted absolutely nothing to do with him. They always show themselves, over time. “Lets drink a few beers!” By day three I will see through you.

        I do have a big, generous heart, because I’ve been given so much. I’m also gullible.
