    Little memory bubble here.
1999 I was up in DC with a Navy captaon friend doing some work. He always wanted to go to the Academy but couldn’t so he decided we should go over and spend a day there going through the grounds.
On the way out we saw a tree lying on its side, a taspe around the periphery and a small crowd gathered. We walked over and it was a 400 year old poplar tree hurricane Floyd had recently knocked over. Turns out it was one of the original Liberty Trees colonial patriots used to meet under to discuss sedition and independence. Seems the state’s been making clones of it for some years and a replacement should be well grown by now.

John Paul Jones crypt was very impressive. Those 10 meter yachts would be nice to sail for a day.

The crypt has to be the centerpiece. It’s a neat place but it’s Navy, the Army in me just doesn ‘t resonate.

We visited there many times while my son attended Annapolis. I will never forget all the exciting things we saw. They had just opened the museum and we saw so many artifacts I had read about in years past. Annapolis is probably the most beautiful, impressive place I have ever been.

I was surprised at how livable parts of the city were, it’s one of the few parts of urban Maryland I’d consider living in – even the rediculous taxes weren’t that much of a barrier.
