    Today’s state is Wisconsin, just for Lovely:
    Wisconsin – Wood Violet

    The Wisconsin state flower consists of a long, slender stem and five purple petals. The upper petals are generally a deeper shade of purple than the other three. The two lower petals are separated by a third, broader petal upon which pollinators land.
    Wisconsinites admired the Wood Violet long before it was officially designated the state flower. Pictures of it appeared on a state stamp in 1848, a century before its official designation. Wisconsin’s Superintendent of Public Instruction C.P. Cary. wanted the state flower selection to be decided by Wisconsin school children. They picked the Wood Violet to be state flower in 1909, but it was not officially designated the state flower until June 4, 1949. Wood Violets thrive in the state’s wet climate and woodland environment across the state in all but four of the state’s counties.
    For most Wisconsin residents, the Wood Violet signifies something more than popularity: it harkens the long-awaited return of spring. Come February, Violet flowers begin to unfold in the state’s wet woodlands, meadows, along roadsides, riverbeds and under tall trees.

    Here in NH the violets came out in May this year. It surprised me the write-up said they come out in February in Wisconsin. Isn’t that the middle of winter? I am very lucky to have wild violets in my yard. I am trying to propagate them, because the seeds are expensive to purchase. It seems many people want to get them out of their lawn – I have no idea why. A lawn of all violets is a lot easier to care for than grass, and beautiful in the spring. 🙂

    Violets, along with forget-me-nots, were popular for hand painted porcelain items at the turn of the last century. Painting on porcelain is very difficult. I am amazed by all the beautiful pieces made.

    Yesterday I subscribed to YouTube TV (7 days free trial). I’m watching Fox News program “Outnumbered”. They have Marie Harf on there. What an idiot!

    I don’t know if I’ll keep YouTube TV. It’s probably the best of the bunch as far as channels included is concerned, but it’s also the most expensive – $40 a month.

      To clarify, YT TV has more cable news, sports, movies, and local channels streaming, but they don’t have Food Network, Cooking Channel, HGTV, DIY etc.

      We still have fios. I hardly watch but its not for me. I tried a roku and it was spotty at best so I returned it. Netflix apparently is run by severe leftists and now is going to be a propaganda channel. There arent many channels I would need to keep but there isnt just yet the right combo, unless “someone” admits he doesnt watch everything he wants.

    Alex Jones is getting sued. Seems the folks who were affected by Sandy Hook don’t like being accused of being actors in a gov’t gun control scheme. And since his evidence has all the solid basis of the 9/11 Troofer loonies, I suspect it will be a short defamation hearing.

    I have mixed feelings about this. I think Jones needs to be told to put up or shut up, but if CNN is immune from slander lawsuits because they can hide behind the 1st Amendment and pretend to be journalists, I don’t see why Jones shouldn’t be allowed to either.

      I assume it’s a civil suit. He has no 1st amendment protection there – unless he can prove that he’s telling the truth. Defamation lawsuits are still legal in our country.
