“Really, Mom, it was the cat.”

There is enough shredding going on there to blame the cat 🙂 !

This was csalled ‘pick a day’ around here, Lucky seems to have been born a chewer. It’s a lot less now but every now and then the stray item gets gnawed.

My Grinner has an obsession with toilet paper she shreds it, eats it, runs around the house with it.
Neither one of my dogs has ever been a chewer . (Thankfully! )

I used to have two labs who would eat the kleenex out of the trash cans.

My mom had a chocolate lab, great dog! She used to steal whole loaves of bread and eat the entire thing.
She sneaks into the bathroom and starts to to unwind the toilet paper, sometimes it gets stuck to her and she leaves a long trail of it behind her.

Our Isla likes the bathroom trash as well! Once, she got in there and accidently shut the door and couldn’t escape. The look on her face when I came in, GUILTY!

That’s why I have covered trash cans.

All our little trash cans had to have lids that they couldn’t get off.

Isla knows how to open the lid (sigh). Border Collies are good with their teeth and lips! She also knows how to open a crate.

I know. Tucker is pretty good too, which is why my kitchen trash can is in the pantry cupboard, and the door is too close to the side of the stove for him to get a grip on it.

Lately Lucky has a penchant for chewing on Chez-Chez. She puts up with the ‘I’m not chewing on you’ game then explodes in a ball of terrier pique…better than coffee at 0600.

Oh, yeah, been there done that.
One of my childhood dogs was a tutti-fruity toy poodle. 5 pounds maybe 5 1/4 soaking wet? He used to chew holes in our shepherd’s fur, the shepherd just ignored him. My mom sprayed our shepherd’s coat with bitter apple and that would deter the poodle for a while but then it would wear off we would forget and holes would once again begin to appear in the poor dog’s hair.

Zauber was a long-hair GSD and he had this huge mane of hair around his neck. When we got the Border Collie Daisy one of the first things she did was chew that mane off, bit by bit. My gravitar has him without the mane, she never let him grow it back – they were best friends till the day he died but she wouldn’t let him have that mane.

Aw. She was just keeping him trim and well coifed.
Our poodle was a hoot, he would get jealous if some of the family was sitting on the couch and the shepherd was on the couch with us so the poodle would run to the window, jump on the radiator and bark like a maniac knowing that would get the shepherd to run to the window, then the poodle would run back to the couch and growl at the shepherd when he tried to get back on the couch 🙂 .

And they say dogs are incapable of rational thought. (They’re probably some of those ‘bird’ people.)

It went right over my head.
We got a bird for the girls when they were young, he lasted about 2 months and we gave it to a friend.

Yerah. I like how folks with large birds like parrots just get all gooey about how the bird hasn’t bit them in ‘X’ number of days. Sheessh, bite me once sucker and it’s into the over at 350 for 20 minutes per pound.

Tucker is a chewer. Both he and the cat will chew and eat (in his case) mail, cardboard, Kleenex, napkins etc.

I didn’t know cats could be chewers!

Siamese cats will chew/suck on knitted items. Had lovely afghan throws crocheted by my ex MIL in the 70’s that I had to repair after my Siamese cats got them.

My Aunt and Uncle had 2 Siamese cats when I was little. They were very friendly and “yowled” a lot. I guess they are usually not very social but I remember them running to greet us with their dog companion and then hanging around us kids.

I had a siamese mix for a while. He was very social, and loved to go for rides in the car.

The older one rode in the back window. They both ate toppings off pizza. One slept on my right side under the covers with his head out of the covers, the other on my left with head toward my feet. But they are Noisy!

I think I heard someone else say that Siamese cats like car rides.

had a dachs once that chewed a hole through sheet rock

My Stella chewed through plaster and sheet rock in my kitchen, as well as the edge of a kitchen cabinet door. Tucker has burrowed a hole in the sheet rock in one spot in the kitchen. He licked off the surface, then worked at it.

Zauber, Cher Chex & Lucky have all chewed holes in the sheet rock. I’ve become pretty good at repair. Is there a dietary deficiency requiring plaster?

What makes the Canaan Unique?
Despite its somewhat pedestrian appearance, Canaan dogs are intelligent and hardworking. These dogs are also intensely loyal to their handlers or their human families. They are also good at dog sports but they will also enjoy playing with kids.
