      My neighbor had an adorable looking Scottish Terrier, but Blackie was mental, hated everyone and all other animals except for his own family.

      I ran into him and his owner one spring day as she walked him on leash in front of their house. Thinking that since I love dogs and never met one who couldn’t be won over, I spoke his name and told him what a good boy he was. He wagged his tail and then instantly leaped up as high as he could and took a bite out of my upper arm…just took a nickel-size bite of flesh right off me.

      The owner was so shocked and put him in their yard, apologizing. I wrapped my sweater around the wound and told her it would be all right, rushed off home and then rushed to the doctor. Announcing to the receptionist that I’d just been bitten by a dog, she buzzed me right through and the nurse gave me a tetanus shot.

      Looking at my arm right now, the scar is still very visible and the incident happened in 2007. Yeah, Blackie was NOT to be won over.

    In the cherry blossom theme this week for spring, here is a Shiba Inu that looks more like an Akita Inu because of it being held

    Here is an Akita Inu puppy. Akita Inus are larger,and heavier-boned than Shiba Inus

    He almost looks like a baby bear! I love how his little paws look so big! I met a pair of Akita’s once. The fur on them is so thick you almost can’t really get your hand through it like you can on some of the Husky breeds to feel the soft under coat, and the outer coat is more coarse than Huskies.
