Decades ago we’d have been on this but with the educational emphasis on dumbing down a certain portion of the population as another certain portion has proven to be heavily ineducable the Chinese, coming from zero in the same time we put the brakes on, beat us to it. But hey, our kids can dance and know that Europeans are responsible for all of the world’s evils for the last 2017 years so no big whoop after all.

At one time our code was the envy of the world. The Russians had codes from WW II that we’ve yet to break but most of that was one-time-use pads, low-tech but very effective. Now our enemies are getting abreast, if not the best, of us.
I have a board from an old crypto unit, it’s potted and every component, down to resistors and capacitors, didn’t have a part number or even a values symbol, it just had an NSA reference number. Just before I switched units around 911 there was a story where the servers used in a number of highly classified comms systems were bought from a civilian supplier and were phony. Where they were mirror images of the ones made by a US comms company I won’t name they were actually made in a Chinese ‘spy’ plant and heaven only knows how much info they passed before they were caught and replaced.
We’re slipping and someone’s gotta put on the brakes.

I thought the first man who spoke did so very eloquently. I was pleased that Pres. Trump did not repeat everything he had said. I thought the whole thing was so nice.
