South Dakota Mom Tells Melania Her ‘Christmas Wish,’; First Lady Made Her Day!

Mad World News

A South Dakota mom wrote a letter to First Lady Melania Trump, praying to receive a reply. Even her two kids told her it was a “long shot” to expect to get anything from the White House, let alone directly from the first lady. After Candace Schumacher had almost given up all hope for her “Christmas wish,” a shocking letter arrived from Melania Trump saying “her dream had just come true.”

Candace Schumacher was watching a tour of the White House at Christmas time on HGTV a few months ago. Candace’s biggest hobby is Christmas decorations and over the years she has gotten a few “big jobs,” one of which was decorating the South Dakota Capitol inside and outside.

So, she did some research and could not find much on who decorates the White House at Christmas. It’s a huge job as she could tell by watching the tour on TV, but the one thing she did learn was that it is the First Lady of the United States who makes all the decisions.

The Aberdeen News reports, “Schumacher penned letters to U.S. Sens. Mike Rounds and John Thune of South Dakota and Rep. Kristi Noem, along with First Lady Melania Trump. The letters went unanswered for a long period of time before the good news finally came that she was being considered for the job.”

“There was no application or anything. I just said I was interested in decorating the White House,” Schumacher said. “There was no response and my kids kept telling me it was such a long shot. If you want to do something, you have to go for it or else it’s just a wish. You don’t want any regrets. You have to see what you can do in life.”

Her two kids thought she was crazy, writing to the White House and asking Melania Trump if she could come and help her with the Christmas decorations. It does sound kind of nutty since it is the White House after all. However, Candance had a dream and she thought if she doesn’t try, she will never know. What’s the worst thing that could happen? The Secret Service at her door, wondering if she is a nut case?

Finally, in October, a letter came with a return address that read, “From the Office of the First Lady of the United States.” Candace was shocked. She had received at least a reply of some sort. Then, she opened the letter and discovered it was Melania Trump telling her that she would love to have her help with the White House Christmas decorations. Candace and her two kids were overjoyed.

“I’m so humbled and grateful for this opportunity. Hundreds of thousands of people will be seeing this on TV and it’s such an honor to represent Watertown and South Dakota as well,” Schumacher said. “I’m proud for Watertown and South Dakota. I don’t think another person from the state has ever done this before.”

Candace has never been to Washington, D.C., so this really will be a lot of firsts for the retired school teacher turned Christmas decorations aficionado. Much of the details are all hush-hush, as the Aberdeen News reported, “Many of the details are being kept secret from the selected candidates.”

The report adds, “They do know that they will be divided into smaller groups and each group will be responsible for a certain room in the White House. Schumacher doesn’t know what room she will actually be decorating.”

A group of volunteers decorate the official White House Christmas tree in the Blue Room of the White House. Every December, the White House is filled with holiday decorations, which include Christmas trees, wreaths, garland, colorful lights and much more. A team of volunteers from across the country work in late November to decorate the White House to get it ready for holiday tours. This year, Watertown’s Candace Schumacher has the honor of being selected as one of the volunteers to decorate inside the White House. (White House photo)

Four florists have decided on the decorations for this year based on a theme chosen by Melania Trump. The theme won’t be revealed until the last minute on November 30th, when the official White House tree lighting ceremony happens.

The Obamas had professional designers at the expense of taxpayers to do their blah “holiday” decorations, so we love that Melania is going with a regular middle-class mom from South Dakota, who is volunteering her time. Melania Trump already hinted that she is bringing back nativity scenes and focusing on Christ’s birth, ditching Michelle Obama’s secular focus which was a “winter holiday.”

The First Lady shocked the liberal losers when she tweeted hashtag #ChristmasTraditions, in describing how she will transform the White House for Christmas 2017, and it will be one lucky mom from South Dakota at her side, “making Christmas great again” at the White House.
