Morning everyone! Today’s painting is by Henriette Ronner-Knip 1821 – 1909 (Holland)
Knip is best known for her oil paintings of dogs and cats, but it was not until her later life that she specialised in these genres. She came from a family of artists and received her earliest tuition from her father. At the age of fifteen, Ronner-Knip sold her first painting in an exhibition at Dusseldorf. During her early years, she painted many subjects including genre scenes, landscapes and still life paintings. The Queen of Belgium commissioned Ronner-Knip to paint two of her favourite lap-dogs in 1876 and the success of these paintings led to many more commissions. Ronner Knip counted most of the crowned heads of Europe amongst her patrons. She began to paint cats in paintings that were popular for their humorous and anthropomorphic characterization. These domestic pets were often depicted in luxurious interiors. Ronner-Knip exhibited widely throughout her career and was elected to many artistic societies. Her paintings won medals in exhibitions around the world. She died in Brussels in 1909. The paintings of Henriette Ronner-Knip are represented in several museums, and sell for over $100,000.
Have a great day everybody! 🙂

Sitrep: another 4-5 radiation treatments. Then about a month or so, I’ll have a scan, this scan will measure the cancerous lesions. The “banding” of the enlarged veins in the esophagus continues. Past Wednesday, 7 were banded. Their might be two or three more banding operations.
That’s my update. The Radiation treatments are the big issues, and I’m praying these treatments work……

Spent the evening watching old figure skating vids. Kurt Browning has always been my favorite skater. He holds the distinction of being the first male to land a quad jump in competition.
His performance to “Brick House” is perhaps his most famous routine as a professional. The routine “Casablanca” which he performed in his disastrous 1994 Winter Olympics is his most memorable as an amateur…he was supposed to win gold that year and perhaps that expectation spooked him. But he skated off with no medal at all for his three separate Olympics on the Canadian team.
Having four gold World Championships and four Canadian Championship golds never really compensated for not winning the ultimate gold. As he has said, though, the 1994 humiliation spurred him on to being a better skater, making every effort to show his true capabilities on the ice. He has, indeed, accomplished that.
Kurt is 49-1/2 when performing this routine…
The full 1997 version…

I won’t link it, because it’s terrible, but I saw Rob Zombie do “Brick House” with Lionel Richie on stage once. Rob Zombie doesn’t have a funky our soulful bone in his body. I was intrigued when I saw the link. When I watched the video I wasn’t surprised. Watching a soulless monster-wannabe sing perhaps the funkiest song outside of Average White Band in a monster-like, no-funk-whatsoever voice was embarrassing to watch. I didn’t know whether to feel bad for Rob or for Lionel, because Rob absolutely destroyed the song. And Lionel had to stand there and pretend that Rob didn’t just destroy his song.

Absolutely iconic…it changed everything for dance and pairs. They were superb both artistically and technically. That great era of figure skating was such a joy to watch. “Figures” once separated the truly technically gifted from the average but were dropped quite some time ago in favor of the artistic side and that’s a shame. There was probably not a skating show which was televised that I missed from the late 70s through 2008.
At the time of my move from Los Angeles I went through the several hundred VHS vids I’d made of Worlds, Olympics, exhibitions, professional troupe performances and watched them one last time before disposing of them. You can’t donate that kind of thing and it was just too much poundage to take with me. Now I realize it was like throwing out part of my life.

Remember, folks: People who read are stoopid. People who watch Cable TV are smart.
https://www.mediaite.com/tv/espns-scott-van-pelt-slams-network-critics-youre-so-dumb-that-i-cant-even-pray-for-you/
Who would this buffoon pray to, anyway? His navel?
He basically says that if you cut your Cable TV, then you are also without electricity and have to read old, stupid books by candlelight. Only stupid people read books. The smart people watch TV. As a commenter points out, if that were the case, it would ironically make us all much smarter.
It comes down to Push vs. Pull. TV lovers are into Push. Sitting in a high-chair, getting spoon-fed. All your information is pushed to you, as you passively soak it up. Readers are into Pull. Seek out information and read, from the Public Library, from Amazon, From Google, from the entire internet.
TV people are getting scared that their audience is tired of being spoon-fed, and want to seek truth, for the first time in several generations.

The things I say, however exaggerated, are rhetoric, not dialectic.
That is on purpose. My mom and dad watch TV.

That report is from 2013 and obviously went nowhere insofar as an investigation leading to arrests.
Here’s a sickening report on pedophilia in which the U.S. military was complicit. We’ve known about this filth for years, too, and the U.S. military establishment is likely still looking the other way.
U.S. troops in Afghanistan taught for years not to oppose “culturally accepted practice” of child sex abuse
November 17, 2017 by Robert Spencer
“What are we in Afghanistan for, if not to stand for our own values and the principles of human rights? Instead, U.S. officials for years were aiding and abetting the destruction of these boys’ lives — and all too often sacrificing the lives of our own troops. This is beyond shameful.”
https://www.jihadwatch.org/2017/11/u-s-troops-in-afghanistan-taught-for-years-not-to-culturally-accepted-practice-of-child-sex-abuse
For pointing out the abusive practices of jihadis and many other faithful Moslems, Spencer is vilified by the left. He continues the fight, however, and has vowed to never quit.

Local news is touting the Federal decision that New Orleans is not a sanctuary city. To highlight this decision and protest local ICE deportation decisions groups of non-documented Latinos are holding rallies at a number of local churches that have self-declared as sanctuary sites for, in some cases, over twenty years. The same sanctuary churches the city has refused to deal with for that same period of time.
I’ve been watching a couple of the rallies on the news but, as many of the speakers can’t/aren’t speaking English, I have to rely on the reporter’s translation.

Does ICE know where the churches are located? It might be time for a raid.

ICE has known for decades, their inaction/inactivity’s legendary. As I’d posted once before we had/have (don’t know current status) a whole migrant camp of illegals by one of the major ship building sites. They were there for years and it was an open secret but they provided mucho cheap labor keeping costs down and profits up so it was ‘hands off’. For some reason even the unions looked the other way, even though the jobs could have been done by US citizens.

New York Times Reporter: Obama Administration Misled on al Qaeda
http://www.weeklystandard.com/new-york-times-reporter-obama-administration-misled-on-al-qaeda/article/2010541#!
A top foreign correspondent at the New York Times said Friday that the Obama administration deliberately downplayed al Qaeda’s strength in the run-up to the 2012 presidential election.
“The overall narrative that I think was being pushed to the press, and if you look back at the editorials that were done when that trove came out, was an image of bin Laden isolated, he had lost control of this group,” Rukmini Callimachi said during an event at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, referring to the 17 hand-picked documents released by the Obama administration in May of 2012.

Saudi Foreign Minister signals to Iran: ‘We’re not going to let you do this anymore’
Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Abdel al-Jubeir told Iran on Thursday that “enough is enough” in response to its “aggressive manner” whilst further stating a growing call for ousting its proxy group Hezbollah from the region.

The Gargoyle of NK has gone quiet. What did XI say to Kim Jong Un? President Trump basically ended the war of words with Kim by saying that Trump tried to be his friend 🙃.
China respects President Trump. China needs the USA.
China released 3 black US thieves because Xi knew it would please President Trump.
Putin needs the United States and though I would say Putin fears no one he respects President Trump’s power, bullheadedness, business sense, success, unapologetic patriotism, and Putin hates Clinton 😜 (sorry) hat tip to James Comey.
Savage Muslims are being decimated by freed up US Forces all across the Middle East and beyond.
General (Ret.) Mattis runs the military like a war wise general rather than a poll conscious politician and the Warrior Saint is killing a massive amount of the enemies of freedom. Period.
Israel knows that United States is back and is going after the savages of Islam with President Trump’s blessing.
Israel is acting proactively.
The Moore allegations are falling apart and Moore has raised more money since the spurious accusations have been made.
A dozen women have come forward to give statements on the good character of Roy Moore.
Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan continue to reveal themselves as globalists motivated solely by greed, power and self preservation.
Hollywood is imploding under the weight of its own perversions.
The Left is at war with itself.
The Podesta Group is done. It is under federal investigation. John Podesta is bellyaching about how the FBI and DOJ are out to get Hillary and her associates 😎.
The Uranium One investigation is in good hands. A hand that is not showing its cards. Smart.
Hillary broke her toe while running downstairs in high heels by falling backwards while she was carrying her own coffee (for the first time in 25 years) and she is still wearing a medical boot on that foot a month later.
Sure Hillary, sure.
The MSM, DNC and RNC all still think that President Trump is only president due to some fluke of the universe and continue to underestimate him.
One person knows how dangerous President Trump is and her name is Hillary Clinton.
“If that f*cking b*stard wins we all hang from nooses.” __H

Hidden camera tells true story of how veteran died after calling for help, gasping for air
http://www.11alive.com/article/news/investigations/hidden-camera-tells-true-story-of-how-veteran-died-after-calling-for-help-gasping-for-air/85-490859558
The video shows the veteran calling for help six times before he goes unconscious while gasping for air. State records show nursing home staff found Dempsey unresponsive at 5:28 am. It took almost an hour for the staff to call 911 at 6:25a.m.

I hate that I am always right when guessing the descriptions based on only headlines.
I really hate that. It makes me feel like I would be called a racist by people who are always wrong when they try and guess the descriptions of, say the Boston Marathon bombers, for instance.
They’re always wrong in their initial assumptions, based on scant knowledge, and I’m always right. And most people I know believe them and trust their judgement and prognostication.
Riot in Chuck-E-Cheese? (Makes prediction before clicking link…) Yep, I was right.
Guy runs over people with a rented truck? (Makes prediction before clicking link…)
Yep, I was right.
Every time. Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles could predict their descriptions. Sad.
I must be like, super-intelligent or something. (/sarc)

I am not familiar with any of them they are all relatively young (36 – 53) so if they are true constitutional patriots anyone would be a terrific appointment. I read brief biographies on all of them the one who gives me pause is Kevin Newsom who seems to have pretty deep Bush ties.
Britt Grant has ties to the Bush administration 2001-2004: Domestic Policy Council, USA Freedom Corps, and Office of Cabinet Affairs, The White House (Washington, D.C.). but she is not a Harvard Scholar (positive) and another positive Justice Grant currently serves on the Federalism & Separation of Powers Executive Committee of the Federalist Society and as a member of the Executive Board of the Atlanta Chapter of the Federalist Society.
I like Patrick Wyrick, he is very young 36, no ties to the Bush dynasty that a quick search turned up. Third generation Oklahoman (Maybe Michelle has an opinion of him). Law degree from Oklahoma not Yale, Harvard, Stanford or some other Liberal Mill. So far this chap is my favorite.
Judge Kavanaugh was nominated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit by President George W. Bush.
Amy Coney Barrett , clerkships Judge Laurence Silberman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit (1997-1998) Associate Justice Antonin Scalia of the U.S. Supreme Court (1998-1999) she seems to have fit in quite well at Notre Dame, that is a red flag for me.
I’m not really offering an educated opinion as I have no knowledge other than the brief bios I read on NRO (🙄), Wikipedia (🙄) and a couple of other sources.

Well, the I-10 bridge that was damaged by that tire fire has two of the three east-bound lanes closed. The fire was so hot it badly damaged the concrete support pillars so they’re going to have to jack up the bridge with temporary supports while the build new piers. No real trustworthy date on how long it will take though present BS guesstimates are ‘a few weeks’. Meanwhile eastbound traffic that doesn’t want to idle for hours as three lanes try to squeeze into one have to take a windy street-level route using a narrowish bridge across the waterway the I-10 bridge spans. Oh yeah, neither the city nor state will provide police to make the lane squeeze-down flow efficiently, it’s drivers having to rely upon the kindness of others if they ain’t in the correct lane.
The tires were stacked up in and around an abandoned vehicle inspection station under the bridge and, according to reports, the tires were set afire on purpose. The city’s having an investigation to try and determine who was responsible for the tires not being reported and dealt with. Who was responsible for the abandoned station, why the NOFD and NOPD didn’t report them…looks like the City bureaucrats will dig around for some fellow bureaucrat ready to retire who’ll throw himself upon their sword for future consideration.

I have been watching Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath. It is a series that started last year I believe. This episode I watched today was very encouraging. Scientology is definitely a cult and the people in it are brainwashed. A lot of them are brought in as children and don’t know anything else. Even if they want to leave, they have no support or help. They are not even educated. If anyone speaks negatively against Scientology, they are treated horribly, sometimes put out in the street, and their family is supposed to “disconnect” from them……….even if they are children.
Since this series started, a lot of the abuses have been stopped because it has gotten sunlight on it. Women were routinely scheduled for abortions if they got pregnant. They were actually forced into it. Children have been abused physically and sexually and there was nowhere to turn. Now things have changed somewhat.
This episode has in it a woman who was supposed to disconnect from her daughter and grandchildren because they left Scientology. Leah was really excited because she is the first one that she knows has done this because of the show. Also, a support group has been set up to help those who want to leave. A lot of good things are coming from this sunlight on an evil practice.

Yeah, been watching that too. We’ve always known they were and are a dangerous whacko cult…for lack of a better word as ‘cult’ doesn’t even come close to describing what that disease is. Too sad that it’s on an off-network so that it can’t reach more people, but there will always be sick, damaged folks who’ll crawl into the mire and embrace it as it meets their damaged needs.Just keep the can of RAID close.

My interest in scientology is only because we had a friend back around 1972 who was so shy he could hardly even speak to me. He got into it and really opened up. He invited us to go with him one time. When we left, I started sobbing and shaking and cried all the way home. I told him there was something very evil about that place and I would never go back. He agreed with me and that was the end of that. Our friend moved to Los Angeles or somewhere to work for them and we never heard from him again. Now I think I know why.

I’ve always wondered if L.Ron were a consummate joker who had a beer bet going he could turn a mediocre scifi novel into a major religion. Gotta give ’em credit, not even Heinlein had the success that Hubbard and his bastard wet dream has.

I believe it all started because L. Ron Hubberd didn’t want to pay taxes. So he spent years getting his group identified as a church. It was all a tax dodge. And, then it grew into something else.

Harlan Ellison, a fellow science fiction writer, tells the true story about his dinner with Hubbard the night he bragged that he could start a religion and people would flock to it. So he set about doing just that. A good dose of brainwashing technique goes a long way.

Well, I guess as far as Hubbard’s knowledge of human stupidity went Xenu what he was talking about.

The only reason they call themselves “Church” is for the tax exempt status, they fought for years to get it. President Trump is looking at taking it away from them.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
And, Lord, we pray for all the people who have been affected by the earthquakes and hurricanes.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
