As you may know, the SPLC is a progressive organization which came to fame for suing the Klan and winning a huge judgment. Nowadays they have become the fascists and are labeling anyone who is not a supporter of theirs as a hate group. The money continues to flow into their coffers enabling a nice lifestyle for the proprietors.

This is a good article, Lucille; thanks for posting it. With the SPLC being the go-to for the progressives (and rapidly expanding) this is going to be a court case to really watch.

From the article: “We have a First Amendment right to express our opinions, just as Coral Ridge has a right to express its opinions.” says the SPLC.

Isn’t that handy now – they’re just “expressing their opinion” and then the idiots who champion the SPLC un-bible can do the dirty work of vandalizing, harassing, and attacking those conservatives who, according to the SPLC’s OPINION, are “haters”.

The SPLC is the vilest type of organization, just behind Planned Parenthood. I’m overjoyed they are being sued.

    Genesis 9:8-13 (NIV)
Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

I love the Pieta. What emotion in a hard, cold piece of stone. What gift’s from God this amazing artist had. In 1975 I went to Italy and was lucky enough to see it at St. Peter’s. The tour guide showed it to us remarking on the attack on it, then he made a snarky comment about people from the US. One of the guys in our group immediately replied in a voice just a little loud for the cathedral that it was NOT someone from the US that attacked it. The guide mumbled something, and was not as arrogant through the rest of the tour. It’s amazing even in 1975 people hated the US in Europe. To how many people had this lying bully insinuated that it was someone from the US that did it. Of course once he was strongly rebuked, he shut up. Bullies are cowards. It was LASZLO TOTH, a Hungarian-born, Australian geologist who damaged the Pieta with a hammer on 21 May 1972. As an aside, we were there in the spring. We were caught in Florence between oncoming communist and fascist/socialists mobs with bats and signs. We managed to sneak out a side street.

Here is a painting for Col. Ken, and all the other guys or students of military battles.Entitled “Divide and Conquer,” this watercolor depicts that critical moment on the evening of 20 February 1815, when, having driven HMS Cyane off a wreck (at right), Constitution cuts under the stern of HMS Levant and unleashes a devastating broadside at close range. Thanks to everyone for camera info yesterday. It is greatly appreciated 🙂 I’m open to any other suggestions anyone has. Will re-read and investigate when taking a break from work today! Something that popped into my head is that for decades 35mm film and processing was the norm. Did someone say it was getting hard to get regular 35mm film developed, or was it a special kind of film? Now that cameras are digital, and connected to a computer, will the camera become obsolete every few years like the computers are not supported, and become obsolete? I don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend on a camera every few years so I can plug it into a computer to view or print photos. What are your opinions? Thanks. Every day I always check in throughout the day as time allows 🙂

I have a Canon t2i (EOS 550D) and love it. It was a gift, but I know it was under $300. Canon is now up to a t5i, so there have been a lot of models with this line. It’s dependable and with a resolution of 18 megapixels (1080p on movies) it’s plenty big for anything I can even imagine wanting. It’s excellent for taking stop action images of even hummingbirds. It has an SD card and supports wifi. There are tons of features I will probably never use. Personally, I don’t think at this point in time one needs to worry about either computers fundamentally changing data formats or storage in the next several years, or image transfer methods becoming obsolete.

Decide if you want a compact flash card or SD card for storage; Nikon uses CFC, or some of their models have; my brother has a Nikon and he dislikes that feature immensely since it’s a different kind of card when SD cards are so prevalent and CHEAP. Compact Flash cards, he says, are comparatively quite expensive.

I don’t know what your budget is or how you use your camera; I’d look for Image Stabilization for your lenses for darn sure. Buying lenses is as important as buying the body, IMH. I only have an 18-85 lens but wish I had a bit longer telephoto. I use the autofocus about half the time I shoot. I’m definitely not a candidate for a high-end camera, either financially or in terms of usage.

Best Buy has a feature which will do a side by side comparison for specifications and pricing if you are looking at a new camera. I wouldn’t worry too much about getting a camera that would become obsolete; with the features of the newer DSLRs I can’t imagine a part of the technology that will change soon. You can also find video reviews on Youtube for old and new cameras. Another resource for the buying process is that you can download manuals for most cameras from the manufacturer’s sites to do a closer review when you have your choice narrowed down.

Walmart still develops film as do many of the camera stores, but they are expensive. I like the digital format because I enjoy the ability to graphically edit my pics, which I quite love to do. If you get an SLR, you’ll still need to scan your photos to be able to do anything with them on the computer, including mailing to friends and family – or posting here at Stella’s.

I hope this helps you some. You might want to try to make a list of what you want to do with your camera along with the features you can’t do without and go from there.

Keep asking questions during your process. There’s a wealth of knowledge here that’s far above mine, like lovely’s, and as you know, we’re always glad to help.

Thanks so much for the info ! 🙂
I’ll look into theone you have. I’m guessing the little cards you take out of the camera and put into a thingy & then into the computer to move pics from camera to computer are the sd or cfc cards? That’s another thing for me to check out. I’m glad you told me one type is expensive – I’ll stay away from that. (I only know my dad’s old fashioned, very expensive 35mm Nikon, and the easy use olympus I had that broke). I’m surprised they don’t make digital SLR cameras you just put a cord into the computer from the camera, but I’m probably wrong. Your comment about the technology not changing every few years is reassuring. I do NOT want wi-fi, interconnected, tv, talk to your car type camera. The more of this there is, the more expensive it is, the more likely to fail, and I’m never going to use it. I just want a camera that takes nice pictures quickly, with good detail, usually from 5 to 200 feet away (although night time moon shots are nice.).
“taking stop action images of even hummingbirds” – that’s amazing! I photograph landscape, animal, outdoor, different weather conditions mostly – some extreme close ups of flowers. I would like something that can take landscape pics under different light conditions, even in the dark with moonlight, quick enough that I can get a few shots of a deer or hawk swiftly going by. I would need something to compensate for shaking as I would not use a tripod, and my hands shake when my back hurts. Eventually, now that I have found non-toxic oil paints, I will start painting again. I’m taking pics as references. A few of the 10,000 or so pics I have taken have come out quite good, even with a $50. vivitar. I would like to stay under $400. Once again,Thanks. There is so much to learn.

The cheap ones are the SD cards and that’s what you want and 16 Gig is as much space for images than you’ll ever need. Don’t get a refurbished card. You have the choice of taking the card out or connecting the camera via USB cable to import the images to your computer.

Be sure you look at DSLR cameras (DIGITAL Single Lens Reflex) and not SLR cameras which are not digital. Same thing with the lenses. Lenses that are NOT made for digital cameras can be made to work if they have the same mount, but it’s more grief than a hobby photographer needs, IMHO. You lose your automatic modes with an SLR lens.

One other thing I need to note: to get crisp stop action pics of the hummingbirds, I did use a tripod so I could get the best image without shaking. With a tripod you can also use an off the camera, cabled adapter for triggering very cheaply.

You’re quite welcome. Needed to make this short response. I’m glad I could help, G&C!

Digital cameras do not become obsolete. Mine is almost 3 years old and all I need is the right cable it has a a regular USB connection for the computer port. I can actually connect it to any computer without software and the computer will accept the photos and upload them.

My niece has the generation before mine and hers works fine with her computer her computer is older than mine.

One tip about a cable connected digital camera is always turn the camera off before you disconnect it, it won’t damage your computer if you don’t but sometimes it has messed up a cameras brain as it doesn’t know it has been disconnected. Why it works out that why I have no clue.

Haven’t seen it posted elsewhere. The Bundy Bunch that held the Federal Wildlife Refuge were each found not guilty.

    http://katu.com/news/local/ammon-bundy-ryan-refuge-trial-verdict-malheur-wildlife-consensus-jury-federal-portland-oregon

“Standoff leaders Ammon and Ryan Bundy and five others were charged with conspiring to impede federal workers from their jobs at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Several also were charged with possessing a firearm in a federal facility.
All seven defendants were found not guilty Thursday on all charges. The jury had no verdict for Ryan Bundy’s theft of government property charge.”

Interesting synopsis at the link. The feds took two weeks to present their case, including the weapons, ammo and ammo casings. Bundy spent three days elaborating his complaints against federal overreach on lands the locals depend on.

Kim Pipki, whose daughter left San Domenico two years ago, said, “The one main statue that has everyone fired up is the baby Jesus and Mary one. “It was at the center of the primary school courtyard,” she said.

Ms. Skewes-Cox said the statues’ removals have “absolutely no connection [to the recent statue-removal craze sweeping the country] other than it is change, and people have a hard time with change.”

No, what people have a hard time with is their religious and cultural traditions being erased instead of asserted, for the sake of the political correct, deconstructive dogma of “inclusion” and “diversity.”

It’s best to get a starter, many yogurts are pasturized and sterile as the Sahara while those labeled ‘live cultures’ don’t say how many or what kind. There’s also the issue of milk…we love the local dairy milk that has a higher fat content, makes luxurious yoghurt. You can also hang the freshly finished yoghurt to make yoghurt cheese…if you can keep your hands off the yoghurt.

I do use a crock pot for mine. I had two problems: the yogurt was grainy and the yogurt was runny, even with a large amount of whey surrounding it (which I pulled out, of course). I learned from the website that I can thicken it a couple ways, and the graininess was because I wasn’t handling the pre-crock pot heat correctly. I’m tellin ya, it was so runny that when I tried to strain it the majority of the yogurt ran right through!

Stella, you’ve got a winner in that video, I think. That will be the way I make my next batch, for sure! It seems to eliminate the steps I was mishandling – Yippee! Thanks for the connect; I always wondered about just making it in the crockpot but never acted on that curiosity. I generally make a gallon of milk into yogurt at a time, so the video recipe is perfect for me!

Thanks a bunch for the input!

    Old Soldier

Listen old soldier wherever you are
The hills or the valleys come near or come far
They say youth’s a treasure we waste when we’re young
So come down from the place where your medals are hung
You’re forever returning and learning to fight
And you feel just like an old soldier tonight
Listen old soldier cause time doesn’t wait
The moon’s on your shoulder the hour is late
There’s something there inside you still calls out to you
And you won’t fade away whatever you do
You’re forever beginning barely winning the fight
And you feel just like an old soldier tonight
You’re not getting any younger that much is true now
But you’ve still got that hunger burning in you now
So what do you do now
    What do you do now?
Listen old soldier to the sound in your ears
Of too many battles for too many years
There’s only one thing you’ve learned in defeat
Losing is bitter and victory is sweet
    You’re always unraveling traveling light
And you feel just like an old soldier tonight
Feel just like an old soldier tonight.
    Just an old soldier.

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen

Bill tells Hillary that he has bought a pet goat and he’s going to let it sleep under the bed. Hillary asks him,”but,but..what about the smell?” Bill replies , “the goat will have to get used to it just like I did”.
