Wow. Good to know, thank you!

amwick, the first photo, where the ear is blunted but not notched, is what cats in Alaska look like when they get frostbite on the ears. It is very common up here. Dogs do very well in the sub-Arctic and Arctic; cats need a lot of help to survive here. I’ve never heard of the TNR program, thanks.

And that kitty on the plaid pillow at the top of the thread has been in some serious cold that froze his ears off completely! (or it’s a Scottish fold)

I haven’t heard of it either. I was looking up cats with no ears because of the first photo..

well, waiting for someone to claim that illegal aliens eat cat meat, so we can get some serious citizen outcry….otherwise, we just listen to how expelling illegals “isn’t who we are” as a nation….well, we don’t eat cat meat nor chop off heads of little kids or want to have to “press one for English” either.

I wonder if the color is accurate. It is pretty red.

I actually have one of those heaters.. I have never used it, because I am not sure it is still sound. You can still get repair parts for them and I am thinking about restoring it.

I’ve seen them they look very cool but a bit scary!

That is why I have not been in a hurry to repair it. I live in a single wide and do not want anything with open flame and fuel. I have pets that might tip it over. It is a cool conversation piece.

We cook on a 1936 Monarch coal/wood kitchen stove and the lighting is 1800’s Dietz oil lanterns. I’d use that heater in a heartbeat. If you ever want to sell it…

I had a Monarch stove too, but I sold it. No room for it in the house. I do plan on restoring the heater.

That’s the cutest thing I’ve seen all day.
Stella’s cat pic above: his mafia name is Joey “No-ears” Maldonado.

Better than “Banana-nose”, I guess.

He’s a Scottish kitty, not an Italian! Maybe Meow MacKenzie.

The animal rescue shelter in MN where we got our Dalmatian around 2000 or so had a mascot-type kitty-kat that looked exactly like the earless beauty at the top of the thread.
It wasn’t born that way: it was rescued from WAY-sub-zero temps, and after so long out in the bitter cold, the kitty lost its ears.
It became a super pet of the employees and had the run of the place, in the front offices and public area. Its bed was right on top of the counter near the door where we would come in.
Its name was Ears.
Everybody loved Ears!
