    And yet, Trump has just caved on immigration. Both Priebus yesterday and Spicer today say ending that ending the DACA amnesty–which Trump can do via executive order– isn’t a priority. Priebus strongly hinted it won’t be done at all. Unfucking-believable. 4 days in and Trump stabs us in the back.

    Yeah, so, about that….

    “U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to sign several executive orders on Wednesday restricting immigration from Syria and six other Middle Eastern or African countries, according to several congressional aides and immigration experts briefed on the matter.

    “In addition to Syria, Trump’s orders are expected to temporarily restrict access to the United States for most refugees. Another order will block visas from being issued to Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, said the aides and experts, who asked not to be identified.

    “Trump’s restrictions on refugees are likely to include a multi-month ban on admissions from all countries until the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security can increase the intensity of the vetting process.”

    The Republican president was expected to sign the orders at the Washington headquarters of the Department of Homeland Security, whose responsibilities include immigration and border security.
    As I mentioned in the Darkstream tonight, the God-Emperor is off to a fast start and he is exceeding expectations. He is ALREADY better than anything I’d even thought to hope for out of any other Republican candidate.

    These are not merely the initial indications of a man who will be a good President. These are initial indications of a man who is striving for greatness and may actually achieve it.

      I can’t lie and say I don’t worry Trump will not do as he said, I have permanent scars from so many before him.
      However, I do not get the people who have already determined in less than a week in office he’s betrayed his voters.
      I don’t understand ever wanting any President to fail because it means our country fails.

      With Trump though I think it’s those who were always Never Trumpers, those who did not vote in any of the process and believe there is no saving the country and those who believed the first day in office Trump would wipe everything away, magically all the illegals and Muslims would be gone from the country and their own version of utopia would be here, that are certain he’s stabbed everyone in the back.

        I understand it. We wanted the big “O” to fail because he was trying to drag the country kicking and screaming, into being even more socialist than it’s ever been before.
        Much of the progressive left want Trump to fail at going backward. They believe in evolution of man and society. Trump equals icky poo-poo regression.
        They don’t think of it like we do. They won’t listen either.

          I have two liberal friends left trying to argue their skewed version of the world with me.

          One sent me a query about Trump’s taxes and something about Trump is only ending Obamacare to help people making over $200,000 a year. I responded that I had no idea what she was talking about with the $200,000 story and could she send me just one link, and that I didn’t care about Trump’s taxes but I was willing to discuss his release of financial accounting which he was mandated to release by law in order to run for the presidency.

          The response I received was “Wow. Ok.” 🤔

          The other told me before the election that SOS has no responsibility for the security of embassies. I sent her the government’s own page which contradicted her views and she never responded. Anyhow we were out for lunch last week and she asked me a political question and said “You read a lot more than I do so what do you think is really happening?” I was floored. This is a liberal who carried a pitchfork to Madison during the Prop 10 debacle.

          All that said the rest of them have completely quit talking to me 🙄. They can’t listen because they are all emotion based arguments that never fare well against facts.

              Well the first response was simply to dismiss my thoughts as nonsense “Wow. Ok”. The second person has a husband that will never listen to reason but she has had her eyes opened a bit even if she never acts publicly on her awakening.

            And that’s how it works. A good agitprop team uses its resources to divide the audience and the progs have a great prog-ram in place. Polarizing prople/groups prevents open discussion, free exchange of ideas and cements the member’s adherence to party doctrine and dogma.
            The entertainment industry’s support of the prog agenda’s particularly important as so many sheeple lacking a life idolize their sybaritic lifestyles. Who better to push the agenda other than those who have a lifestyle the average person can’t even hope to achieve… “why, if they have a lifestyle I can’t even imagine they must be better than I”. Pile the MSM herd of useful idiots on top of that and you could use a front-loader to dump logic on the liberal target and it would just roll off. Can’t use past examples of failed prog nirvanas, theirs will be different and actually work.
            Only cure for liberal/prog pipe dreams is to let them achieve their aims and suffer the consequences; only problem is that the rest of us have to wallow in their failure too.

          Obama was a whole different ball of wax, but even with him I hoped he would learn to love his country and do the best for it. Of course it didn’t take long to figure out he was determined to destroy it and then of course we all wanted him to fail at destroying it.

            Exactly. The progressive left — correctly — believe that Trump will destroy their desired version of America and the world. It doesn’t matter that their version of utopia is unrealistic and is really just a get rich quick scam put together by university professors 300-400 years ago.

      I agree with Sundance on this. To push DACA at the moment will practically speaking halt action on any other of the important initiatives. Those who push for immediate action on DACA are not our friends, and is exactly why the media asks about it at every presser. That is exactly what the opposition want – a constant drumbeat of opposition on everything. Better to proceed with the rest of the immigration initiatives first – arrest and deport criminals, strengthen the penalties for reentry after deportation, catch and deport those who overstay their visas, and build the wall, attack DAPA (which is happening) – THEN worry about DACA.

        You don’t get very far when you put the cart before the horse. I think Sundance covered the points well. Like you, I agree that this is the wise course. Furthermore, I think Trump and most of his people are smart enough to avoid the traps. But many, if not most, of his supporters are not that bright, they just want big action fast.

        The loud stupid ones will be angry.

        I’ll go back to my point from years ago that the Republicans are once again ignoring the perfect chance to make more Republicans. The DACA folks are heavily more Amerixan than Mexican, DACA has an education requirement (unlike our native children in our school system) and it would be beneficial to make ecucated Republicans rather than yet another generation of aggrieved Rats.
        I do not see a mass deportation happening, and if the government tries I can see a huge national, and most likely international, mess that will cause far more problems than it will solve. You have to work from where you are, not from where you’d like to be.

    What a week so far. EPA has a gag order. Pipelines gonna get built. Potential SCOTUS pick today. Mad Dog is on the job, and showin’ ’em how it’s done. I’m exhausted from all of the work being done cleanin’ up the swamp. Coffee up y’all. We’re gonna get pretty tired over the next several years with everything goin’ on. 😀

    There is enough open water that we have 7 swans on the lake, our King and Queen swan continue to protect their own area and will protect the whole lake once the lake opens up. I know they are animals but man it looks cold out there especially when they are swimming in the open water and the hop out on the ice.

        IKR! In northern England, I saw a huge flock (They all belong to HM ERII) on a beach so decided to go get a loaf of bread for them. My DH just waited by the road as I went out to the beach to give them some bread, (He never told me they were mean!). As soon as they realized I had food, they all came running and yelling at me! Scared me so bad I just threw the whole loaf and ran for my life. He laughed so hard!
        He later told me that they can break your arm with one wing!

      We have one Canadian (goose, not tourist) plaintively honking for a friend. Don’t know where the flocks that are usually around have gone but so far potential buds are few and far between.
      On the other hand, on Sunday we had our first huge flock of what looked to be purple matins feeding and watering over the lake. Put their houses up that afternoon, those these may just be pushing the envelope. Our yearly addiction is returning.

        We have an outcast goose that is not allowed in the gaggle. No Purple Marlins even though my mom did try for a few years to attract them with a proper house. I gave her a bat house for Christmas once to help with mosquitos but she decided she was afraid of bats and gave it away.

        Lots of humming birds in the summer.

          One wonders what crime a goose has to commit to be banned from the gaggle. After the neighbors decided to shoot a few as they swam on the lake the mated others of the dead ones swam around honking for days. Don’t know what their fates were but it was a discomforting sight.
          Don’t know why but we have far fewer hummingbirds now than we’ve had in the past. Still get some impressive numbers for a few days during the migration south but maybe it’s just one of those normal fluctuations.

            I don’t know but it always makes me sad to see him. He is allowed on the outskirts sometimes but never allowed to join in the goose games. He hangs around a lot in a little stream by himself.

              If you can get to the stream you can perhaps lure him to more hospitable digs by feeding him corn, greens (cabbage, collards) and whole grain bread. You can move it closer to your place until he bonds with your property. Major problem will be his sliming your patio.

              I can’t do that as our dogs will be forever irritating the geese by wanting to play with them.

                It’s my mom’s house and she has a dog. Not to mention all but one of the neighbors actively work at keeping the geese away.

                A couple of years ago we had a swan rescuer come out and take a swan, he was one of the babies who had not left to find a mate, all the others could fly but he couldn’t because he was missing a foot so he couldn’t get up the speed in the water to give him flight.

    I will only briefly address the question of the crowd size dispute, for which I see weaker justification: diverting media attention from the Saturday mass demonstrations, and possibly setting up a crowd size framework for judging the annual March for Life in D.C. this weekend, which is routinely ignored by the MSM despite drawing massive crowds. The media have now bought into the notion that crowd size is a very, very important issue. This amounts to a lazy softball right over the plate for the pro-life movement, Sean Spicer, or anyone else who shares President Trump’s pro-life positions.

    If Trump’s media enemies like CNN once again ignore the March for Life, they will discredit themselves. It is very clear to me that President Trump intends to destroy the credibility of his media enemies. He realistically understands that they are implacable enemies seeking his impeachment and removal from office (on grounds yet to be ginned up) or, as a fallback, defeat for re-election and a midterm election disaster for the GOP. Weakening the credibility of the media is a continuing goal of his administration.

    That is the context in which his multiple remarks concerning illegal votes has to be understood. I think President Trump knew that if he made remarks about illegal voting, the media would spring to action and present the opposite position and would characterize his thinking as a lie. The problem with this is that a lack of evidence is not proof for the contrary position. We simply do not know how much vote fraud there is because nobody takes the trouble to investigate how much there is. When a voter presents himself at the polls or requests an absentee ballot, there is no automatic search to discover if the person is a legitimate voter. The very act of asking for voter ID is considered discriminatory by many, including some in the courts.

    The MSM are now demanding proof for Trump’s assertions, opening the door for the Trump administration to conduct a detailed investigation of vote fraud, which has to have been a strategy all along. When the investigation will be attacked as an effort at “vote suppression,” the Trump administration will have media demands for data to point at.

    Because nobody can deny that there is some vote fraud, the question becomes, “How much?”

        Big problem I see after talking to folks about things like ‘motor voter’ is that they haven’t been taught, in school, the importance of democratic voting. The untold thousands of Americans who died fighting for, among other things, the right to vote hasn’t been drilled into them. The concept that the life and personal freedoms they enjoy, and abuse, are only guaranteed by that vote.
        They’re taught that the old USSRians had the right to vote, the Chinese can vote, that voting is the ‘right’ not of only an American as specified in the various Constitutions, but a function that anyone here, legally or illegally, can do. No biggie, just something that you can or cannot do at regular intervals.

      It seems that Trump is always a step ahead of the nay sayers. And so far they have stepped into it every time .

      To the informed this will mean something to the minions they will deny it and respond with name calling and obtuse fidelity to the slaughter houses of Planned Parenthood, the democratic party and false narrative that the MSM will continue to push.

      What the left “I’m here to shut white people up.” is blind to, is that the demography that they are courting is way too small to offset the demography that they are alienating. Good.

    I was briefly allowed to look at (without actually being able to read) the plan for one cabinet-level department. It appeared to be about 100 pages plus of serious detail as to exactly what executive orders would need to be removed and added, what personnel would have to be replaced (both appointees and regular staff), what policies would need to be changed, and so forth.

    I was told that this level of planning was being done for every department. My impression is that there are a lot of people from various think tanks and others with experience in the presidential transition process who are involved in directing the plan for each department. That level of detailed planning doesn’t happen in less than two months. My guess is that some of that thinking has been going on for years, and now it can be implemented.

    White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters today that President Trump will not ignore the upcoming March for Life in Washington.

    “I think it’s no secret that the President has campaigned as a pro-life President. It’s something that is very important to him, as evidence by the Mexico City Policy reinstatement he issued yesterday,” Spicer said.

    “Obviously we’re going to have heavy administration presence there,” he added.

    The PC Conservatives at National Review and other Establishment outlets mocked heartland conservatives and evangelical Christians who backed Trump. The view from Washington was Trump was insincere about his pro-life position.

    Action speaks louder than words.

    Trump brought back the Mexico City Policy. He will back Congress making the Hyde Amendment permanent, will stop paying a half-billion annually to Planned Parenthood, and will sign the 20-week limit on abortions.

      I agree with what Vox Day said in my first comment.

      Trump is already exceeding any expectation we could have had for ANY GOPe candidate, and even most of our expectations of him.

      Not mine. I expected greatness, because that’s what he does, and what he’s always done. Any GOPe candidate would be less than worthless right now.

      I am SO glad we elected Trump.

    How we handle urban crime in New Orleans: mayor has moved that $40-million to the PD so that we can stop more crine and arrest more criminals. At the same time he has moved $400,000 from the DA’s office to the Public Defender’s office as the office is underfunded and cannot pay for all of the current arrestees defense while also telling the DA’s office they prosecute too many arrestees.
    So, even though the ‘prosecute too many arrestees’ complaint ignores the huge number of cases the DA’s office refuses and those prosecuted who the judges just give a slap on the wrist, they want more people arrested.

    News cut in with a ‘Breaking News’ announcement that ‘Greenpeace protestors were hanging from a construction crane in DC’. Quickly redirected my full attention to the piece only to find that they were ‘hanging’ from rappelling gear in sleeping bags. Hope and Change dashed again.

      Yeah, I also remember the K-9 teams being so poorly ewuipped when we first went into Afghanistan that team members were sending out email requests for people to send them basic equipment like food bowls booties to keep the dogs feet from being damaged on the hard ground.

          This one’s looking like they’re both doing a low-level splash in. The WWIi rigs I saw allowed the dog to be carried on the jumper’s front and, when the jumpers shoot is open and he’s stabilized, the dog can be lowered on a tether so it lands first and doesn’t encumber the jumper. Sort of a dog-as-deployment-bag. I believe the current airborne doggies do much the same.

      It’s also the principle of offensive warfare; close, deep, and rear areas. That’s the basics, and when you attack, it’s not peace-meal, attack all three area at once, and keep attacking, then you maneuver thru zone, all the while you attack, never letting the enemy to reorganize, or counterattack……simplistic in explaining, complicated in execution……

    How can you talk about this when there is a serious cleavage between the people of this country? Try to keep abreast of what is important please. Issues like crime, people walking around with huge guns. Homelessness, people forced to live in mobile homes, although some do have really nice Winnebagos. People just don’t give a hoot. Well I say they are wrong. I say we should all give a hoot, be a nation of giant hooters. But no. We just knock each other. All of us. Nothing but big knockers. Enough already. Here’s an idea – reward yourself for acts of kindness. Every time you do something fun with someone, put a dollar in a jug. If we all do this, we will find ourselves a happy nation proud of our big jugs of fun.

    Might be a part of the problem. US is still the most Christian nation in the world but numbers are down over the last twenty years while the numbers in Russia and China are up. Interesting to see what changes will occur when China becomes the ‘most’ Christian nation in the world. Gonna be hard for the Communist Party to confront those numbers when it decides to but they can always as the Democratic Party for guidance.

    Stella, love your photo for today. That doesn’t look like my house, but it sure does look like my yard. We’ve had non-stop snow for 3 of the last 5 days. Nearly a foot on top of the base. Today the sun is shining and the sky is blue and all that snow is glittering like diamonds. So lovely! And we’re supposed to get more for the next 5 days. As often happens with the cloud cover that dumps a lot of snow, the temps have risen to a balmy +25 degrees. Certain Southerners coming up next week for the wedding will get a break if this holds!

    As Stella has let you know from time to time, I actually have been ok even though dealing with what follows. Stella and the back-side gang have been my faithful friends and place of refuge during these months – loving, listening (when I had the gumption to communicate) – and as Stella has also said, I have been reading here regularly and following all of you. (You’re all crazy, you do know that?? – in the best sort of way – and thanks for all the Earthquakes, Nyet! [What IS that?? Do I dare ask???])

    Anyway, here’s the scoop: (sorry it’s so long) – [begin duplicated post]

    Because of the press of events, I did not choose to try to keep everyone updated along the road.

    I’ve been under continuous treatment for Triple Negative breast cancer since last March when I went for my annual mammogram. The aggressiveness of the cancer was such that it would have been significant in terms of survivability if the mammogram had been scheduled much later in the year. It was caught early but was highly aggressive.

    Six months of heavy chemo, lumpectomy surgery in October, and now six weeks of radiation (done next week – yea!) and one ongoing preventive infusion [not officially ‘chemo’ but preventative] until June of 2017) have ALL had the most positive outcomes. I am most fortunate in all these things. My diagnosis came almost two years to the week after my husband left us – four months after being diagnosed with untreatable liver cancer (an “incidental” diagnosis after hernia surgery). Our lives were filled with grace and God’s presence during that four months – and I report the same about these last eleven months for myself (with five months of treatment still to go). My life has been filled with the provision and presence of God.

    Just had to share the praise and information even though I did not have the strength to share the journey, I am still weak and very tired but since I am resuming commenting now (a little bit) I wanted to let old friends (and new) know there is nothing but praise and His presence in my days. I have had effective prayer support of close family and friends all along the way.

      Expletive of shock and inability to express shock to follow…at sometime…and maybe. About the time one thinks his own lot is weedy in comes the proof that there are others deeper into the grinder.
      Even prayers seem an inadaquate offering, though they are. Keep us informed, even feel free to comment on my bad editing (it’s my ‘mark’ though I did take the tyme to clean this one up), join the bacon addict’s support group and spit venom at the punsters. And keep us informed and close.
