You’ll notice that was morning, early morning. Then again to a dog or cat it’s not a thing about morning, afternoon, night…it’s all ‘ awake or asleep” as we found out before dawn when something got up,on the patio and two dogs loudly told it were it not for the glass door they’d both be out there to kick its furry tail. From the length of the noisy encounter I presume the critter was sitting out there reminding them ‘there was a door though’. Sheesh, and I put up all of those ‘no trespassing’ signs. Blasted Common Core….

Actually a part of the prog/Communist legislative agenda for a long time. Legalizing sex with children….excuse me, allowing juveniles to freely express their sexuality free of bourgeois control, has been pushed for decades various US and especially European Lefitist groups. Chickenhawks of the world and Roman Polanski salute you, California.
Did they name this the Michael Jackson Act?

Speaking of California, another Manson family member is up for parole.
This Manson family member is the longest-serving woman in California prisons. Will she get parole?
Confined to a California prison since 1971, former Manson family member and convicted murderer Patricia Krenwinkel is now the longest-serving female inmate in the state’s correctional system.
On Thursday, the 69-year-old will have a chance at freedom when a review board considers whether to recommend her for parole.
…
According to Wattley, Krenwinkel has two key factors working in her favor – both revolving around age.
Because she was 21 at the time of the murders, she is considered a youthful offender under a law that took effect in 2016. Also, commissioners must recognize the elderly have a lower risk of future violence, he said.
“I’m not saying the crime doesn’t matter,” Wattley said. “But it does not predict her future risk to public safety. That’s why the law requires her release.”
…
“Society cannot allow this serial killer who committed such horrible, gruesome, random killings back out,” Tate wrote in an online petition that has garnered more than 95,000 supporters.
https://www.change.org/p/california-board-of-parole-hearings-keep-charles-manson-cult-murderer-patricia-krenwinkel-from-getting-parole
She personally stabbed to death Abigail Folger, as well as Leno & Rosemary LaBianca. She mutilated Leno LaBianca’s body with a carving fork- carving the word “WAR” into his stomach before writing words in blood all over the home. She has admitted that was not a direct order from Charles Manson or anyone else- it was her own idea.
For years this woman laughed about the murders in court and showed absolutely no remorse at all. She admits she was not on drugs the nights of the murders & committed them to ignite a race war.
Society cannot allow this serial killer who committed such horrible, gruesome, random killings back out & I am asking for your help to let the parole board know you do not want to see her get early release. Her last parole board in 2011 gave her a seven year denial- however she has asked for a new hearing based on her age even sooner & was granted one!
The eight victims of the Tate/LaBianca murders (which includes Sharon’s unborn son) deserve justice. This woman was originally sentenced to die in the gas chamber, but her sentence was commuted to life in prison- which is where she should spend the rest of her life.
When signing this petition, you can chose to not make your name or comments posted publically.
Thank you for your help if you could take a brief moment to sign this petition.
Thank You-
Debra Tate
(Sister of Sharon Tate)

Had to go into the Big City this afternoon, highway was packed with logging trucks, each driving tobs of logs into the psper mill. These guys (OK, and gals) arevself-employed, payed by the load. Cash for loads, no benefits, they own and maintain their own equipment and work from before dawn to last light. They’ll fill their rigs with logs even after the mill’s closed, parking and taking their loads in for mill opening.
The guys/gals who operate the equipment tha cuts, drags and processes the trees for transport are usually owner/operators too, again they work from first light to no light and are paid by the job. It’s hard, dangerous and dirty work, you’ll usually find many of them have strong pain relievers in their lunch boxes right next to the thermos. No paid sick leave, no paid vaycay or holidays.
Wonder where I’m goin here? Well on the news we had another ‘labor organizer’ who was going on about how hard it was for an adult working flipping burgers or bending tacos to make a living wage. How the work is hot and dirty and the benefits and pay are inadequate…blah, blah, blah. The ‘workers’ were out making the usual aggrieved worker gestures and whines, demanding a $15 an hour salary at least.
Now how many of these loggers make $15 an hour after expenses? You’re going to tell me that line workers at a fast food shop somehow should get $15 an hour and benefits when these loggers who bust their asses working on a production basis and not on an hourly basis barely get that with no benefits? I sense a disturbance in the farce.

Understand your point; however, two wrongs do not make a right.
Had our wonderful, caring politicians maintained COLA for the minimum wage, it would be around $25.00 an hour. Yes, $25.00 an hour.

Yes, BUT, those jobs were traditionally for students or folks looking for a part-time, low-pay job. Object was to keep labor costs low while providing a reasonably priced product, the jobs were never meant to be a career or living wage medium.
People in those jobs have a myriad of reasons why life sucks and why they have a jobette vice a career. So we’re going to turn this into a career? High school students are going to get $15 or more an hour or we’re going to have salaries needs tested? We’re going to see franchise owners lose already low-per-investment profits slump as people balk at paying increased prices? When it becomes cheaper to eat crap at home than eat crap at a fast food outlet why bother to go crap hunting? I think Mickey D’s food costs more than it’s worth now, even a slight increase will point me and my GGS to Ihop, and Ihop has more comfortable seats.

Good comment. Got me thinking on the “pay” reflecting the difficulty/cost of the job performed. Here’s a simple list:
Military
Police
Fire/Rescue
Teachers
Nurses
Doctors
Lawyers
Politicians
Athletes
Movie Stars
Seems to me that if based on risk/reward/effort/benefit factors, top would be paid better than the below. Inverted to be sure. Perverted as well.

Salaries for many of those jobs vary from state to state. For example, some LEO in NY may have a salary of like 80 to 90,000, where the same job in GA may be closer to 30. Its a huge difference. Some stuff makes no sense.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Good morning, Amwick! Lots of things make no sense, but aren’t salaries supposed to reflect the cost of living?
LikeLiked by 2 people
Salaries reflect what the market will bear, or they should. If a salary isn’t high enough for the area, the job will go begging.
LikeLiked by 4 people
True, and by this principle, GA salaries are as appropriate for GA as NY salaries are for NY.

The only question I would have is are the GA police represented by a public sector union? I know they are in most of New York.
I am not against unions per se, but I AM against public sector unions. The losers are the citizens, because we pay the salaries, and the negotiators – politicians – don’t care about representing us.
LikeLiked by 3 people
In WI before Walker broke up the Union, teachers retired with 80% of their salary, (the average of three highest paid years were used to determine the amount of pay), the company that held the health insure policy charge like 3 times the average rates, the teachers paid like 5% or zero I can’t remember at the moment and the tax payers had to write the check for the rest.
It was a total scam.

There are horror stories about how they pad their last year for retirement benefits… SMH.
LikeLike
Czarina used the ‘stuffing’ program to increase her retirement. State system is still very solid for those retired but looks dreary for many who aren’t. Then again, separate retirement funds for groups like the New Orleans firemen’s retirement have been savaged by local pols.
Years of court battles to restore the stolen funds had every court from local to Federal telling the city to cough up the stolen funds and the city refusing (you try that). When a ballsy judge ordered the city to reach a settlement or face hefty daily fines AND the mayor going to jail on contempt charges the city ‘found’ the millions. It’s a big game.

That happens to a degree, but LE is(may be) a dangerous job, and it doesn’t seem that the people in GA get paid enough. They don’t think so either.

Police have occupational codes starting with ’33’.

Hard to comment on that without specifics.

Say the median salary in NY being 60 thousand (2015 stats from your website), the median in GA something like 51, so it isn’t that far off, but the cops in NY paid more than double… Maybe it depends if you are a state trooper of a local town police officer. And I am thinking about Suffolk county, which is where I lived for a long time, not necessarily NYC.
But when you look at how corporate CEO’s are reimbursed, you are comparing raisins and watermelons…

My only objection is that the government get involved in what people are paid. It should be market driven. As I said, the New York cops probably have a union (or a better one).
If the GA cops don’t like what they are paid, they can either unionize and attempt to extract more money, or they can find a better paid line of work. Other alternatives are a better education, or move to an area that pays better (New York, apparently).
PS: Minor point – neither of the websites I linked are ‘mine’.

NY pay isn’t more than double. It is much higher (69,140, compared to 39,510), while the average income is 60,850 compared to 51,244. Another factor is undoubtedly the high cost of living and salaries in NYC.
PS: I checked Michigan. Avg income is about the same as GA, but the MI pay is much higher as well – more than 56,000.

Eggs have little flavor of their own, and so can take on an infinite variety of flavors, from meringue to huevos rancheros.
Apple pie is often topped with a slice of cheese, so imagine a jelly omelette as being in the ballpark of apple cheese meringue.
I would imagine the beaten eggs for the omelette would have less salt, no pepper, and maybe a little sugar.

Armagnac is less expensive than Cognac. Due to being made from one grape type instead of a blend, it has a much longer shelf life. It is not impossible to get Armagnac bottled over 100 years ago. It just doesn’t have the marketing of Cognac.

Putin Stunner: “We Will Not Expel Anyone; We Refuse To Sink To Obama’s Level”
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-12-30/putin-stunner-we-will-not-expel-anyone-we-refuse-sink-obamas-level
Which he did on Friday morning, when in a stunning reversal, the Russian leader took the high road, and in a Kremlin statement said that, contrary to expectations, Russia won’t expel any Americans in retaliation to US moves, in a brutal demonstration of just how irrelevant Obama’s 11th hour decision is for US-Russian relations.
In the statement Putin said that Russia won’t cause problems to U.S. diplomats or deport anyone, adding that Russia has the right to respond in tit-for-tat manner, but it will not engage in irresponsible diplomacy.
…
“We reserve the right to retaliate, but we will not sink to the level of this irresponsible ‘kitchen’ diplomacy. We will take further moves on restoring Russian-American relations based on the policies that the administration of President-elect Donald Trump adopts,”

Putin the benevolent dictator 😎 continues to prove that Obama is a feckless twat who even after 8 years as POTUS has learned nothing about public relations or haplessly escalating conflict with Russia.
Putin has invited all US diplomat children to the Kremlin for a grand New Year’s Eve celebration. Imagine sticky fingered smiling little American kiddos sitting on Putin’s lap and brining home gift bags from Papa Putin.
Meanwhile Obama will either be golfing or scowling.
These really are amazing times.

Obama is simply trying to create as many problems as possible on his way our the door, like a bad tenant who skips town without paying rent and rips out kitchen cabinets before he leaves. So far, nobody is taking him seriously; certainly, Putin is too smart for that. I am hoping he does not do something that will cause irreparable damage.

Funny thing. Over at CTH someone accused me of picking that avi so I could trick people into believing I was benevolent and that I might use nice words while posting but they were just a ploy to trick people and hide my secret agenda (which I now have forgotten what that person thought my agenda was).
It was all because I disagreed with the consensus of the members and Sundance about what really happened in Waco with the bikers.

It gets better:
From the Daily Mail, the best newspaper in the world:
The ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed the US and American people were ‘humiliated by their own President’ in what she described as the Cold War-style measures against Moscow.
‘They are the group of foreign policy losers, angry and shallow-brained,’ she said.
In a personal onslaught, she claimed Secretary of State John Kerry was not in line with what Moscow sees as draconian measures.
‘The most surprising thing is that having failed to add to the history any achievements at the world stage, the Noble Prize winner managed to make a big inkblot instead of an elegant mark.
‘Only Kerry deserves sympathy from this group of spoilers.
‘He was not an ally, but he tried to remain professional and to keep his human dignity.’
She claimed: ‘His own colleagues were mocking him, cheated on him and did not let him work.
‘God save any Secretary of State from what he had to go through.
‘Mr Kerry, at this hard moment for the USA let me express my solidarity with you – you have done everything possible in order to prevent foreign policy collapse in your country. ‘
John Effin Kerry is being compared favorably to Obama. What a world.

Plus, Obama is putting in place right now as many things as he can to trip up, stop, and slow Trump’s progress. What he has done with Russia, for example, will make it more difficult for Trump to normalize relations with Russia; if he eases the restrictions put in place by Obama he will be accused of favoring Russia over our own country (political points in future elections against R’s) but, if he doesn’t, foreign relations become more difficult.

This is just my opinion but I think all these exceptions that are made, whether for religion, size, age, sex, etc. are making our public service unsafe.
A friend and I were talking today about all the house fires lately and how all of them have been a total loss. Her husband is a retired firefighter and was complaining years ago before he retired about exceptions they were starting to allow so they wouldn’t discriminate against women or those not in good physical shape was going to lead to inept fire departments.
There was a reason for uniforms, physical tests, etc. that was for the safety of those in these jobs as well as the safety for citizens.

Shining a Light on ‘Back Row’ America
http://www.wsj.com/articles/shining-a-light-on-back-row-america-1483056652
I’ve written of the great divide in America as between the protected and the unprotected—those who more or less govern versus the governed, the facts of whose lives the protected are almost wholly unaware. Mr. Arnade sees the divide as between the front-row kids at school waving their hands to be called on, and the back-row kids, quiet and less advantaged. The front row, he says, needs to learn two things. “One is how much the rest of the country is hurting. It’s not just economic pain, it’s a deep feeling of meaninglessness, of humiliation, of not being wanted.” Their fears and anxieties are justified. “They have been excluded from participating in the great wealth of this country economically, socially and culturally.” Second, “The front-row kids need humility. They need to look in the mirror, ‘We messed this up, we’ve been in charge 30 years and haven’t delivered much.’ ” “They need to take stock of what has happened.”
Of those falling behind: “They’re not lazy and weak, they’re dealing with bad stuff. Both conservative and progressive intellectuals say Trump voters are racist, dumb. When a conservative looks at a minority community and says, ‘They’re lazy,’ the left answers, ‘Wait a minute, let’s look at the larger context, the availability of jobs, structural injustice.’ But the left looks at white working-class poverty and feels free to judge and dismiss.”

Maria Zakharova claimed US citizens were let down by the White House, and added: ‘Not by international terrorists, not by troops of the enemy.
‘This time Washington got a slap in the face from its own master and it increased the urgent agenda of the incoming Donald Trump team to its maximum level.’
Moscow hopes that Trump’s arrival next month in the White House will gradually lead to a reset of relations between the two countries.
‘That’s all, the curtain falls,’ she said of the Obama presidency.
‘The bad performance is over.
‘The whole world, from the stalls to the upper balcony, is watching the smashing blow on American prestige and its leadership made by Barack Obama and his illiterate foreign policy team, that disclosed its top secret to the world – their exceptional nature was a mask for their helplessness.
‘No single enemy could do more harm to the USA.’

The National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Fund reported that the number of officers murdered in 2016 was at a five year high and PBS, TIME and NPR are milking it. PBS is saying the numbers ‘shot, killed’ are up, NPR is saying number killed by firearms is up, TIME saying the numbers are up in 2016.
True dat, numbers are up but under Obama we’ve seen three notable spikes in LEO shooting deaths, 2010, 2011 and 2016. The liberal MSM attributes these deaths to firearms, as if the firearm enchanted the shooter to shoot the officer, the evildoer had no evil intent to donevil until the evil gun forced him to do so. Never mind the spikes underbthe most cop-hate inspiring president we’ve ever had.
Of note is that the MSM makes no mention of the numbers of LEO killed by their own weapons. It’s a dirty lil secret that a goodly number of the police shootings, fatal,or not, are done by perps taking away the officer’s guns and turning them on the officers. I went thru the academy many years ago and weapons retention was a big issue then, We went through a full day of retention traning and updated retention training regularly after that, the figures we were given way back then were that over 20% of officer shootings were by weapons taken away from officers. There was also an active market in retention holsters that required up to three separate actins to be taken by the officer before the gun could be drawn.
Guess that when you’re pushing your ‘unarmed population as walking target’ agenda tweaking the presentation of facts is a viable tactic.

HONOLULU (AP) — Stung by new punishments, Russia is looking straight past President Barack Obama to Donald Trump in hopes the president-elect will reverse the tough U.S. stance toward Moscow of the last eight years. In a stunning embrace of a longtime U.S. adversary, Trump is siding with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Whether Trump steers the U.S. toward or away from Russia upon taking office is shaping up as the first major test of his foreign policy disposition and his willingness to buck fellow Republicans, who for years have argued Obama wasn’t tough enough. Now that Obama has finally sanctioned Russia over hacking allegations, Putin has essentially put relations on hold till Trump takes over.
“Great move on delay (by V. Putin),” Trump wrote Friday on Twitter. “I always knew he was very smart!”
He was referring to Putin’s announcement that Russia won’t immediately retaliate after Obama ordered sanctions on Russian spy agencies, closed two Russian compounds and expelled 35 diplomats the U.S. said were really spies. Though Putin reserved the right to hit back later, he suggested that won’t be necessary with Trump in office.
It would be news to the Associated Press that Putin has been looking past Obama toward Trump for months.
An amazing time to witness. And to Witness.
