That’s a cute kitty.

They’re all cute, that’s how they keep from being turned into compost due to some of their other attributes.

Not all of them, some kitties are downright ugly. lol
I have an ugly one right now living in our shop, but he’s keeping the mice population down in there so he’s lucky he’s such a good mouser otherwise we wouldn’t be able to stand to look at him. lol
I told my husband today he seemed to be a content kitty. He told me he should be because not only is he hidden from people who would tell him how ugly he is, but he has shelter, litterbox, water and is getting a high protein diet. 🙂

Maybe he’ll grow into his ugly big head. 🙂
My grandson found him while going with me to check the mail. He was at the edge of the woods and my grandson started yelling, “meow meow Nanny.” Of course it had to come to him. So we gave him worm medicine and gave him a shot and turned him into a shop kitty. This kid is going to be just like his mommy and bring home every stray he finds.

In some ways I’m glad about that, now she has to deal with all the kittens, cats, puppies, dogs, hurt birds, frogs, toads, turtles, lizards…………….

Just before I signed in there was a crash from the kitchen. I went out there and two of the cats playing tag with one of the dogs had cleared the top of the kitchen island
. My morning pills, half a now-gone package of Black Forest ham, salt and pepper shakers, and two smiling cats with that ‘how the heck could that have happened’ look on their faces. Yup….compost.

Speaking of those little furball’s endearing qualities, I just stepped out into the garage and directly onto a mostly chewed freshish mouse left on the doormat.

Yeah, it’s one of those ‘it’s the thought that counts’ moments.

I’ll admit I’ve always been a dog person. My mother hated cats so not many around growing up. I didn’t really like them, but when my daughter was little she wanted one so bad I allowed her to have a kitten. I then realized the benefit of them.

We’ve always been animal people, our first joint cat while we were dating. For most of our lives the cats/dogs were cosmetic/companions but now they’re that plus functional. At various times we’ve had snakes, lizards and one European starling – yes it lived openly with the cats.

Snakes and rats, two things I hate is why I now tolerate cats. It makes my day when I see a cat eating either one.
I’m not the biggest bird fan, I had a parakeet when I was a kid. I hated that stupid bird, it was always biting me.
My youngest son is a bird lover. He grew up with a cockatiel, that bird bit me too. lol He was still kind of funny though because he could say a lot of words. The funniest was once when I sent my son to his room for something and grounded him from his bike. I guess he went in there to do what kids do when they’re ticked at their parents and tell themselves how horrible their parents are. His choice of words to express that were, “mom is an a$$hole.” A word he knew he was not allowed to say and one he would never had said in front of either of his parents.
However at dinner that night his best friend betrayed him, it escaped from the room and came running down the hall screeching “mom a$$hole, mom a$$hole!”
It was one of those times as a parent you know you should be stern, but when you look at your son’s face and the bird won’t quit saying it, you can’t help yourself, you bust out laughing.
It took me a few hours to be able to get on to him for saying out loud words he wasn’t suppose to say, because I couldn’t do it without laughing.
Unfortunately over time it got real old hearing that stupid bird say it. lol

I think I’d have been on line looking up cocktiel recipes. Worst the starling did was could say its own name ‘Mr Bird’, repeated the car alarm, the squeaky gate and the Czarina’s dry cough. We aren’t inside-bird people (except for KFC, Popeye’s and the occasional turkey), we just inherited the starling. One was enough.

My son loved the bird. I tolerated the bird.
When we bought him for our son we were told they only learn a few words if any and usually only whistle. Not that bird, he had a huge vocabulary plus he barked, meowed, made airplane noises, car noises, sirens and whistled constantly.

I had a friend who had a cocktiel, and it rang like the phone, answered “hello”, had a muffled conversation, then said “goodbye”, and “click”. I didn’t believe it until I heard it. Evidently the wife was on the phone all the time. LOL

I forgot he did do the telephone ringing.
He was an escape artist and it was almost impossible to keep him in his cage. He learned how to turn the tv on with the remote. I’d come home and the stupid bird would be sitting on the couch or coffee table watching tv with a pile of his poop for me to clean up. He seemed to really like soap operas.

Mr Bird lived in his spacious cage (Zauber’s old kennel) with toys and food when we were not at home. Soon as we were home he was allowed out to join his flock. He’d stretch his wings, his favorite was living room down the hall, then into the kitchen, thru the pass-thru and into the den, around the den then up the short hall into the dining room winding up by zooming thru the folding doors and back into the living room to land on one of our shoulders. He’d watch TV, perched on our shoulders or on the back of the couch, jumping onto our arms to grab food or a sip of our drinks – he loved Coke and Pepsi.
He’d go and land on the dogs and cats, picking thru their fur to look for bugs – dogs would play with him, cats ignored him. He loved to shower with me, even would shower in the kitchen sink when we had the spray head on the kitchen faucet going. Lasted just over 5 years, first and last bird.

Not a bird but a pet I had as a kid, I was always an animal person, but most of my pets were dogs I dragged home and wild animals I found and my farm animals that I wasn’t suppose to turn into pets. A few times though I ended up with more normal pets.
When I was a pre-teen I had a guinea pig that someone gave me. My mother hated it and called it a nasty rat all the time and I wasn’t to ever put it down if I had it out of his cage.
An uncle on my dad’s side had came to visit and he was always drinking beer. Mom didn’t like this uncle and she was out working in her garden and flowers, finding busy work to avoid him. My brother and I were sitting in the front room entertaining him while playing with the guinea pig. My brother put him on the table where my uncle’s beer was sitting and he kept sniffing the beer, so he went and got a little bowl and started letting it drink the beer.
Obviously guinea pigs and beer don’t mix because he killed over.
I took it out to where my Mom was and told her my brother killed it by giving it my uncle’s beer. She said, “the only good thing to come out of a visit by your uncle and beer.”
Then she said she’d give me $5 to buy the canaries my friend wanted to sell me.
Canaries are boring little birds, they never wanted out of their cage and she sold me canaries that never sang.
I was stuck with those things for about two years before I found someone who wanted them. Every time I had to clean out their cage or feed and water them I griped to myself about my brother killing my guinea pig because if he had not killed it I would never had been allowed to have the stupid birds.
