I believe there is enough evidence to suggest that Erdogan orchestrated the “coup.”

I agree completely. Erdogan’s agents fermented the coup, many military officers joined, but when the coup took place, Erdogan’s elements simply did not participate, leaving the real Turkish patriots holding the bag.
Take care

Exactly. Erdogan was face timing within the first hour of the “coup”? He was looking for asylum in Germany then suddenly landing in Istanbul and surrounded by “the people” of Turkey.
None of it makes sense if this was an authentic coup from top to bottom, it was a smoking out and a tool to be used to implement strict Islamic rule and consolidate Erdogan’s power.
Obama not only fundamentally transformed America he has managed through demonizing America and Christianity while simultaneously empowering our enemies and glorifying Islam to fundamentally transform the world.

I’m looking at Erdogan being the target, question is, who supported it and why?
The loyalty of the military to the country is the key, why didn’t more of the military participate? Was the coup rushed, staff officers unhappy with the way Erdogan was becoming a dictator didn’t wait long enough for the lower military tiers and the population to become dissatisfied enough to support them?
Erdogan’s ben trying to cleanse the upper military, replace the staff members who are reactionary with those whose thinking is more in line with his. Was this a coup by some of them, a last ditch attempt to save the military from becoming an Erdogan tool?
There’s also the chance that the coup could have been orchestrated by the US or Russia, though Russia has far greater reasons at present to set up a coup there than the US andthe clumsiness of it sniffs more of Russia. Turkey is of strategic importance to Russian power moves in the Mideast and it’s certainly PO’d that Turkey is supporting ISIS in Syria. Interesting that the Turks turned off the power to the US airbase at Incirlik Air Base. Turks know US has backup power there sonwas this a hint that the US should stay out of the coup in anybway?
There’s also a possibility that it might be about a clash between religious/ethnic groups in Turkey. The Turks have tensions, to one degree or another, in the country and in the military between various groups. Some of these pots are being stirred by outside forces and that could have played a role.
So many threads andvyet no answer looms. Sorry, had to say that. In any event I don’t see us getting thevtruth any time soon as all of the sides will spin this to their own advantages and I believe just about all of the players want to get this mess behind them as quickly as they can.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Looking at it from the way the news has come out, it’s easy to form an opinion that this was orchestrated by Erdogan. But I think your take is more realistic — we just don’t know enough to have a final answer. I would hate to see the “side” in power getting the mess behind them quickly by executing a bunch of people, though I wouldn’t put it past them, regardless of how it might look to some of the rest of the world (years ago, I would probably have said “most” of the rest of the world, but those days are gone.)

There’s no telling, but with how Erdogan’s been consolidating his power I can’t see why he’d risk his gains, go off track and stage a flase-flag coup, too risky. The political lurkers all over will be spinning this one way or another while the press prints everything, regardless of how silly, to try and stay on top of the cycle. I don’tbthink we’ll ever know the whole truth..

Perhaps Erdogan is aware that a change of guard is coming January 20th, 2017 and he is more comfortable with millions of enslaved Muslims under the threat of Islamic law defending him than he is with continuing on a less radical pace of power consolidation?
My thoughts anyhow.

Because of Erdogan’s actions and words I believe he is the genesis of the coup.
1) Face timing within the first hour of the coup and initially blaming radical Islamist as the head of the coup.
2 ) Seeking asylum in Germany then only short hours later arriving by plane in Istanbul to adoring cheering crowds.
3)
Really? 🙄
4 ) The round up has been swift and brutal. The crack down and implementation of rule by Erdogan’s fiat is already being implemented.
5 ) Erdogan is immediately using the “coup” to move Turkey toward radical Islamization.
6) The numbers of detained and brutalized has already exceeded the number of coup participants
7) For all intensive purposes Erdogan is holding over 2000 US Service men and our nuclear weapons hostage.
8) Erdogan is demanding the US send Fethullah Gulen back to Turkey and blaming him for the coup. John Kerry a hellish bastard propagandist for Obama and Islam (is there a difference) has said, “Gee Erdogan send us a formal request with the legal reasons you want us to send Gulen to you to brutalize and then slaughter and we’ll do our best to get that done.” << Not verbatim but my understanding of Kerry's words.
9) Those few (maybe 200) who were true patriots of a secular Turkey would never have tried a coup with so little support from all aspects of the military if they had not been encouraged by false compatriots.

He purged upper ranks a long time ago, if memory serves. This was just the clean-up move. I don’t think he orchestrated the coup himself, but he certainly leveraged it for all it was worth, sacking 2000 secular judges to be replaced by sharia judges. What mess.
LikeLiked by 1 person
He had some of his actions overturned by the Turkish Supreme Court, his hold isn’t total yet. The coup appears to be something of an act of desperation as it was small, badly done and the actors had to know that the chances of them succeeding were small and the chances of their ending up dead were very large. Seemed more like The Three Stooges Do The Coup.

I hope everyone has a blessed Sunday. Along the lines of the thinking in some of Nyet’s recent posts, here is something to ponder. This delves a little deeper into the idea of civilized societies and nations, needing somewhat more, possibly, than inculcating a sort of Christian morality into thinking, societal focus and laws:
“If the serious element in life is out of focus, if it no longer is concerned with our duties toward God, but with the scientific and social activities of man; if man continually seeks himself instead of God, his last End, then events are not slow in showing him that he has taken an impossible way, which leads not only to nothingness, but to unbearable disorder and misery. We must again and again revert to Christ’s words: “He that is not with Me, is against Me: and he that gathereth not with Me, scattereth.” (9) The facts confirm this declaration.
We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies in which religious art has more place than true piety. As a matter of fact, no religion that is profoundly lived is without an interior life, without that intimate and frequent conversation which we have not only with ourselves but with God.
The last encyclicals of Pope Pius XI make this clear. To respond to what is good in the general aspirations of nations, aspirations to justice and charity among individuals, classes, and peoples, the Holy Father wrote the encyclicals on Christ the King, on His sanctifying influence in all His mystical body, on the family, on the sanctity of Christian marriage, on social questions, on the necessity of reparation, and on the missions. In all these encyclicals he deals with the reign of Christ over all humanity. The logical conclusion to be drawn is that religion, the interior life, must be profound, must be a true life of union with God if it is to keep the pre-eminence it should have over scientific and social activities. This is a manifest necessity.”
Note: In the last paragraph, the word “reparation” is not meant in the way our society today defines the popular “social justice” use of the word.
Note #2: Our world today seems very, very far from these ways of thought expressed above.

I spent years talking with a friend about becoming Catholic. She had been thinking about it long before I knew her. I shared with her as I went through RCIA and Confirmation. She finally took the plunge and went through with it. I traveled for two days just so I could be there when she was confirmed. Within less than a year, she stopped going to mass. Her reason? The parish priest was a SJW immigrant activist. She just couldn’t take his attitude and his homilies and all the parish programs for illegal immigrants. I know that’s not exactly a good reason or the right judgment call, and I pray for her return every day. But still, it’s upsetting to me, just the thought that if she had had a good priest, paying attention to the things of God and his primary duties for the souls in his care, as he is supposed to, she might still be in Church for Sunday Mass, receiving the blessings of the Sacraments.

I feel for your friend, Pam. I’m in a similar boat. Perhaps not quite as extreme, as we don’t yet have parish programs for illegal immigrants. But definitely the SJW/liberal viewpoint. At last week’s Mass, the prayers of the faithful included prayers for “all those who would build walls instead of welcoming our neighbors.” There is not another option for me that is less than a 2 hr drive. I hope your friend can find an alternative.
LikeLiked by 3 people
That’s the sad part. My friend could find alternatives, which I urged her to do, but she has chosen to not look for an alternative parish.
I share your situation – when we moved last year, there is only one parish within reasonable driving distance. Our priest is a young man from South America, who was brought here by the Archbishop of the Atlanta Diocese, went to college, had to learn English, got his degrees, was ordained into the priesthood and assigned to us for his first parish. We have one mass (out of 3) on Sunday which is a Spanish Mass. I haven’t been here long enough to learn all about what goes on, but so far I haven’t seen any overt SJW behavior from our priest. I’m grateful for that. The worst thing I’ve seen is when they try to have a shared Mass, where the Spanish and English goes back and forth in the readings and songs. One time, the priest gave the whole homily in English, then gave it again in Spanish. It all comes across as very awkward to me. I try to avoid those masses.
I have no problem attending the Spanish Mass, when that time has been best for us. Most of the time, I will just say the Rosary to myself when he gives his homily. I will say that the Hispanic people bring lots of children, and there are many young men with tattoos, but they come to Mass. And it’s the only mass where every single person doesn’t get up and go forward when it’s time for the Eucharist, so apparently some of them still believe that you don’t take Communion if you’re not in a state of grace. However, although there are normally a few other white people at that mass, we are looked at by the children as if we were Martians, and when the “peace” thing happens, we are usually avoided. Once in a while, one of them will look at us and reach out their hand. I can’t quite figure out whether they are really hostile or just uncomfortable.

My first and possibly uncharitable thought is that they are likely “undocumented.”
Yesterday at Mass, DH and I sat behind a couple who could have been Mexican, or Indian. The man wore his baseball cap throughout the Mass. Really bugged me. I wanted to lean forward, tap him on the shoulder and say “sir, would you mind removing your cap?” but I didn’t. He even went up to receive the Eucharist with it on and the priest (of course!) did not ask him to remove it.

Oh boy, do I know what you mean! I get so distracted when I watch people at Mass, because these days it’s really easy to see people and even priests not having respect for the holiness of the Mass, people talking, not paying any attention, not even an inkling that they are in the presence of God Himself. I would let it get to me so badly that when I left Mass, I felt crummy because things had made me so upset. Going to Mass started turning into a trial, rather than being the joy it is meant to be. There were a few times when I almost wouldn’t go up to receive, because I had been seething inside from all the nonsense. I think once or twice I didn’t go up..it just felt so hypocritical.
I finally started picking up the Missal and keeping my eyes down, following the Mass in the book, just so I wouldn’t look at anyone else. When I get in the line to go up to receive, I keep my eyes on the floor right at my feet. I don’t want to look at what anyone else is doing. Sometimes, if I know the priest is not exactly a really devout priest, I will even shut my eyes while the homily goes on, so I don’t look at the priest. It’s almost humorous, in an ironic way, that I feel like I have to “hide out” in the Church during the Mass. That’s one of the reasons I sit in the back.
When I first go in, I try to make myself remember to pray for every person there, because I know I am one of those personalities who will see every little wrong thing and get all irritated by it. For a little while, I asked God “why did you bring us here?” Then that started feeling a little scary, so I asked Him to give me ways to cope with the fact that here I was, and He obviously has His reasons. So far, these are the little ways I try to cope. One advantage is that I am actually reading the passages and prayers the priest says during the Mass, instead of just listening to a long stream of words that I didn’t even really know the meanings of. But then, I have to watch it because our priests will go off script from the proper Rite and leave things out, or substitute things that shouldn’t be there. It seems to be part of what we have to go through in most Novus Ordo parishes in America today. But the Eucharist is the purpose of it all, so we just have to do what we have to do.
LikeLike
Pam, we are two peas in a pod. I am also easily irritated by the lack of devotion shown. I’ve gotten used to seeing women with bare shoulders and very short and/or tight skirts–don’t like it, but used to it. The hat guy just made me seethe. Didn’t help that he and his wife were sitting in the exact spot that DH and I usually sit. Okay, that’s fair, we were a few minutes later than usual. These two were visitors or not-regulars. Because I’m easily irritated by others’ behaviors is precisely why we sit in the front, usually 2nd pew. That way 70% of the parishoners are not in my field of vision.
I love your suggestion of praying for all in attendance. I will start doing that. And yes, the Eucharist is reason for it all. I can’t wait for the day when I will be allow to receive First Communion. Patience is not a gift I have in abundance.

A black man called in a report that another black man was pointing a gun at him. From my best understanding so far the first LE to arrive exited his car without his gun drawn 😐 and was immediately shot.
That is all I have heard about the initial engagement.
Absolutely an ambush.

I talked with a LA deputy close to Baton Rouge and asked if they’d been briefed on an FBI Situational Information Report sentnout of the New Orleans FBI district office on 7 July titled ” Violence Against Law Enforcement Officers and Riots Planned for 8-10 July, 2016″. The report link: https://www.judicialwatch.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/FOUO-FBI-SIR-planned-protests-and-Violence-Against-LE-Louisiana-8-July….pdf.pdf
No, they hadn’t heard about it.
Now shots reported at Baton Rouge mall.

Total numbers shot are in flux but the fact this was a premeditated attack, at least as far as the cops are concerned, is not at issue.
Local Fox station’s not saying if they’ve fed the pawn shop robbery or Black Panther presence in BR yo Fox national.

OMG. I just got home and saw this horrible news from Baton Rouge.
I am sure the President will get to this as soon as he finishes his round of golf.

Worst part is the FBI New Orleans issued a warning this was in the works on 7 July and not every department issued/acted on it.
Louisiana governor is practicing his ‘serious’ face as he has his writers prepare a speech that will maximize his political visuals while minimizing his gaff in the shooting that sparked this. Mayor Landrieu has scheduled hisvown press conference, never being one to try and squeeze a political point out of any tragedy.
Pols are falling out of the woodwork as they sniff an opportunity and the press, running a nonstop cycle, are starting to talk out of their asses as they run out of prepared copy.
