We have a large planter of it growing outside and all three cats ignore it. I’m betting that at some point the resident skunk will find it…

Took GGS out to dinner and a movie. Just before we left he got entertained by watching a field mouse he’d chased run under the truck…and straight into the outside cat. Got a firsthand lesson from A to Z on how a cat catches, dispatches and unattaches a rodent right up close. Circle of life and all that.

Years ago I had a female cat who had a litter of kittens. They were confined to the kitchen (about 6 weeks old), and momma cat brought a live mouse to the screen door and showed them how to kill it.

Lyes, it’s interesting. I had a cat specialist years ago tell me thatnif a kitten doesn’t learn how to efficiently kill an animal within a certain period of time in its kittenhoodbit never will. It will instinctively chase and grab but can never get that quick bite to the neck or throat thing down pat. Outside cat, inside/outside cat both learned and are super mousers, inside cat will chase and grab but then he just looks at you as if he’s asking ‘now what do I do with this?’.

Ditto with socializing with people. If they don’t get familiarized with people by a certain age you rarely get a full ‘domesticated’ cat.
