I really like this one (from an artistic perspective). It has a lot of “movement”.

It is considered by some to be Giotto’s most effective psychological and emotional painting. The intensity of the gaze between Judas and Jesus, framed by the other heads, is palpable. [see below]

Superb! I own a 19th century Russian icon and took macro photo of all of the saints and figure depicted. While I coud figure out key figure and faces, many I could not — and I can’t read the Church Slavonic captions / abbreviations. So I found somone on the internet who specializes in “reading” icons, sent him the close ups, and he deciphered everything for me. I then made a book out of the enlarged photographs. It is stunning how all the detail can be “lost” even on a small (10 x 14 inch) icon. Below is the link. Captions are under each photo: https://swisspix.shutterfly.com/temp/2027

Really nice. I always wanted a Russian icon but when I was there they were strictly guarding them export as national treasures, if we were caught trying to get one out,we’d have been awarded the first prize: five years in Russia. Second prize was ten years in Russia.

We got ours at an auction. From the looks of the other items, it was obviously a collector or religious items from around the world. We were so pleased when we were told we had the winning bid.

For us it was the early 60s and Russians were out selling anything they could to foreign tourists. We were supposed to changevour dollars/Marks (l won’t do the pun) for Rubles at official exchange kiosks while egulatvcitizens would give us five to ten times the official exchange rate just to get their hands on a solid and stable currency.
We were regularly offered some really nice stuff but you couldn’t be sure ‘who’ was offering or if you could get it out of the country.

Speaking of ‘perspective’ it would be about another 100 years after this fresco before libear perspective in a painting would be used. It was used in a religious painting, despite what the nay-sayers say faith does inspire creativity.

The other day I said it was too bad for Cruz that we aren’t stupid and know how cozy candidates are with Super Pacs. Then I thought how he was making a mistake by not denouncing the ad.
Welp, I was wrong because I’m seeing comments all over that it’s illegal for him to have any contact with Super Pacs, so he shouldn’t denounce something he had no part in and Trump is the evil one to go after his wife.
Bless their hearts, they think politicians actually follow the law.

I think she’s the more ambitious of the two of them. She certainly has been the most successful. Got the better position in the Bush administration, a better job in the private sector …. They have a full-time nanny so that she can concentrate on her work.

Those crazy cows, every time the lighting flashes, the cows run the opposite direction, then when the thunder rumbles, cows move in another direction. Must be their first time in the rain, threw about 500 lbs of ear corn in their pen… Settle them down a bit.

I was reading a friend’s post on FB and I have to say it wouldn’t surprise me. I didn’t get permission to share it, so I will just paraphrase.
Republicans are admitting that they don’t think Cruz can beat Hillary, but they have an ace in the hole. If they succeed in a brokered convention and nominate him, even if they are wrong and he somehow beat Hillary they can still get what they want. The House of Representatives could say he’s ineligible and could choose his “establishment picked” VP candidate.

Talk radio hosts in WI are almost crying as they beg people to stop Trump and vote for Cruz in order to bring about a contested convention. I am fearful of Cruz doing well here. WI voted for Scott Walker and at the same time voted for Obama.

People here seem quite blind to the bait and switch that has been perpetuated on us. Paul, Reince and Scott, are only worried about retaining their power. Run of the mill conservatives blame Trump for Scott’s early exit from the presidential race. These are the same people who said that Scott’s Marvin Milquetoast person will not bode well on the national stage.
Talk show host are virulent in their hatred of Trump and school girl in their loving promotion of Cruz. Hopefully Kasich will winnow enough votes from Cruz to give Trump the win.

Is that new Emerson poll suspect? It shows Cruz up one point over Trump. The Marquette polls have never shown Cruz in the lead, and their poll last month showed him 10 points ahead. This is the first Emerson poll in Wisconsin, I think.

Unfortunately Sykes is the anomaly. Billings who subs for Rush has outright lost his mind, worse than Levin, I don’t listen at all anymore. Weber (local talk show host) is absolutely rabid. He has no room or time for measured talk it is simple Trump is the devil. He hung up on me. I don’t listen to him anymore.
Both Belling and Weber have a large listening audience and are harming Trump and America. I hope their listening base is being lost but I don’t know how many people have abandoned them and their vile hate.
A woman Vicky McKenna is also local, she was anti-Trump but not a vicious mind numb Cruz supporter and unlike Weber and Belling Vicky said that Trump is better than Hillary. I haven’t heard her in over a month so I don’t know where she is at now.

As an aside, Belling was whining about how mean Trump is, right along with talking about how Belling asks homeless people for money.

I’m not sure how that would work. I know if one candidate or the other doesn’t get enough electoral votes they can decide and I know they can decide on eligibility or at least that’s the argument Cruz has made in some of these lawsuits.
So I don’t know what they could do if they ruled a person ineligible, would they have to choose the VP candidate, the opposing candidate or pull a President out of thin air?

Wooly, it’s true, bad things do come in threes. Lost my Dad, almost a year to the day lost my uncle, and within 10 months after that, was wounded in GW1.

I’m doing a few things but the neighborhood or sub-neighborhood they were in is a No-go Zone. They were talking about it at first but stopped almost immediately. I’ll see what I can find out about it.

I was getting a call for two days from a number that I didn’t recognize so I just ignored it because they didn’t leave a message. It was an invite to the Trump town hall in Janesville WI this coming Tuesday so now I am on the “wait list.”
Janesville in general is going to be hostile to Trump, not rabid like Chicago, but the insidious hatred of back stabbers, Janesville is where Paul Ryan calls home and his family lives. The hall may be stacked if Trump does’t have control of it.

Talking heads on the news have ‘experts’ on blathering on about the new generation of IED-making explosives that give terrorists the ability to make smaller and more dangerous bombs (have I thrown out enough DHS/NSA ‘tripwords here?) as opposed to whatever types they’d used in the past.
After a few minutes of boogyman-speak they up and say the bombers used TATP. Lemme see, TATP’s almost 125 years old and has been used in a number of recent bombings by members of The Religion of Peace from, quite possibly, the 1995 Paris bombings to Richard Reid to last year’s Paris bombing redux. You’d think they could present the story sans the misleading puffery. Ah who cares, it’s older than 15 minutes and qualifies as ancient history, expect Congressjerks to be out demanding 3 day waiting periods before you buy nail polish remover or hair bleach.

She really is, I know birthdays haven’t been celebrated in awhile due to all the activities so seeing catniss in the crown with the tweety birds and butterflies ala Disney theme brought a tear to the ol eyes. I remember there are quite a few Aries birthdays in the place.

I just want to thank all of you fro the fantastic art that you have posted today. I was stationed in Germany in the early 1970’s. My first husband and I were big history buffs. We tried to see as much of Europe as we could. The Sistine Chapel, Notre Dam, the ruins of Rome. the great museums of London, the Louvre, and many more. I fear with the invasion of the Muslim hoard that Europe may suffer the same destruction that has happened in the Middle East. The evil that has been done by the raging ISIS masses that has destroyed so many great and historical holy sites. They are now attacking Europe and their great religious history. I pray they can be stopped before they remove all memory of what was once our collective history.

Zurich Mike, did not want to leave you out. One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life was the view of Lake Lucerne from the top of Mount Rigi. I have been to a lot of places both here and abroad and I can honestly say, that view was truly breathtaking.

It was a kid that supposedly was fasting every Tuesday for Cruz or so the father told Beck. Nobody supposedly knew about it. Made no sense because if my kid was fasting I think I’d know about it, but on the other hand if nobody knew then how did the father know?
Beck called it the Priesthood Rising.
I don’t like seeing kids used that way. Don’t use a kid to make some kind of political point or whatever kind of point Beck tries to make.
