I did some work for a client in Cincinnati a few years ago and on the weekend I would walk to Kentucky. There was the Mother of God Church in Covington that had 20-30 stained glass windows and a huge pipe organ. I’d share photos I took, but we’ll settle for what I can find on-line.

You know nyet, little things matter. Every day I pause and smile at my lined up glasses of Jack. Thanks! It brings a smile to me in the morning, and then all that food.
So this morning’s three wishes if I encountered a genie in a bottle are to own a warehouse full of Jack Daniels for WTSHTF, own a warehouse full of basic necessities like toilet paper, shampoo, chocolate, and stuff, in the middle of my ranch with springs, wells, on a river maybe, and to be able to eat that breakfast and lose weight.
These three wishes change daily, but they make me smile. 😀 Good thing the genie is a fantasy since I’d be bound, as a Catholic, to walk away from him fast if he ever popped up with his magic tempting me.

I just read the post by SD of Beck and Romney with Cruz yesterday, how creepy are these folks going to get?
I’ve found that Churches and Pastors don’t focus as much these days on false prophets as they did in my younger days, but back in the day all of this stuff would have scared off Christians. Yet today I keep seeing Christians say we need this man because we need God in this country. Are they not listening to the stuff being said by those around him, his father, his wife, Beck?
LikeLiked by 5 people
From what I see there are a great many pastors who don’t want their flocks dwelling on the subject of false prophets as they don’t want them dwelling on the subject of false profits.
LikeLiked by 7 people
I’m not about to say we’re in the last days because I believe the Word of God and it says we don’t know the day.
I will say though that the Word of God says Churches will fall away and I do believe we are seeing that.
Churches won’t call out false religions and some even join forces with false religions and many are getting where they won’t even call sin a sin.
LikeLiked by 7 people
I’m just at a loss about those churches where much of the flock is living paycheck to paycheck while heaving cash at the pastor (and all to frequently his wife) who live like rotalty. I know it’s the parishioner’s money to disperse as they see fit but you’d think the church’s hierarchy would demonstrate a bit more of a Christian disbursement.
LikeLiked by 4 people
I’ve always went to small Churches who struggled to get by, but I’ve attended mega Churches a few times and have wondered about the Pastor and his wife with their diamond jewelry.
The tv preachers though are the ones who get under my skin when they promise the moon if you send them money.
LikeLiked by 3 people
Bingo. I wonder if the congregation believes that onlookers or God see the richness and flashyness of the pastor as an indicator of how more holier or blessed the church is. We have public busses with megachurch advertising on their sides showing the pastor and his wife significant other in gaudy dress, beaconing to believers with spare cash to come and contribute.
We had a very large church where the non-standard-denominational minister would arrive in a car that cost more than the houses of many of the attendees who did have houses, and his house was nothing to bark at either. Then agian, if God hadn’t wanted him to be a shepherd He wouldn’t have given him so many sheep.

My great Grandfather, who I never met, he passed away before I was born, was a pastor. My mother and grandmother always told me how he never took a dime to preach. He always said God called him to preach and He would compensate him in heaven. He was a farmer and a logger, but if someone came for him, he would drop everything and go to who needed him. He was born a poor man and he died a poor man as far as earthly goods go.
However, from the stories I was told about him, you would never find a man stronger in his faith nor would you find a more generous man.
My cousin, his grandson followed in his footsteps. He preached at the same little country Church.
Several years ago a Church I was a member at our Pastor was going to retire. I knew nothing of the finances of the Church, I didn’t get involved with business meetings. It was the first time I was ever involved with hiring a new pastor and my only involvement was I was going to vote on those who made the list. The one the congregation chose turned us down because the salary wasn’t good enough and we weren’t providing a house, just providing $500/month housing allowance. That was my first dose of reality that some are called for a job interview.
I told my husband that I would have felt a little better if he had said, “God called me to this other Church.” He didn’t say that though, he said he was going to preach at another Church who was going to pay him more and provide him with a house with all bills paid and sorry, he understood we couldn’t provide that and thanks but no thanks.
So I have a problem when I hear faith tied to wealth or health.
I want a preacher who is called by God, not a preacher who is called to the highest bidder.
LikeLiked by 4 people
No arguement here. Many, if not most, of the small country churches out here have pastors/mind sters who are emloyed to pay the bills at hone, they work for a living just as their parishioners. I believe that both pastors who preach to get the word out and those who preach to libe their pockets will get their rewards from corporate.

I’ve had some good preachers in my lifetime then I’ve had some bad. Just my own personal experience the best ones had no formal education and they had a day job.

If I could talk to Lindsey Graham face to face I would ask him what conservatism is as we know it? I view social conservatism as marriage between one man and one woman, abortion is murder, 1st amendment is freedom of religion not freedom from religion. I view fiscal conservatism as smaller government, fewer taxes, fewer regulations, less spending, etc. I also view plain old conservatism as the government getting out of our lives and leaving us alone unless we are causing harm or violating others rights. We can raise our kids without any help from the government and we can educate them without the federal government telling us how to do it and we are America first and we live by the rule of law.
I have witnessed none of that from Lindsey Graham and neither have I seen the Republican party or the Republican majority put forth anything remotely conservative.
So I need Lindsey Graham to define conservatism for me and I need to know what the “heart and soul” is because I don’t think I want to be a part of it from what I have seen and I think the heart and soul needs to be ripped out of Graham’s version.

Some 10 days after the big rains flooded the area in Louisiana just to the west of us, days after s ’emergeven the bankrupt state responded, the big news is that FEMA has finally opend its ’emergency assistance’ office. Can’t spell assistance without ass.
Certainly glad FEMA was on 24/7 response alert, took ’em forever to get here and further screw things up after Katrina.

BTW, if your house flooded and all don’t forget to bring all of your paperwork like any insurance, proof of income and resources, drivers licence or ID card, you know, all that stuff, so that your application can be considered. If that’s all flooded out then just go down the street a tad to the Illegal Alien Intake Station and go inside yelling “santuario, sanctuario” (extra points if you sound like Charles Laughton), they’ll take care of ya.
LikeLiked by 4 people
Do they have an on-line application process? When we had the flooding in Michigan two years ago, I applied on line, and was contacted by phone by a FEMA adjuster.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Not sure but news is talking about the offices. Generally they want to see bodies with papers showing that you don’t have flood insurance so they can tell you you must buy it before the goverment can helpmyou. Also paperwork showing income and all that before you can apply for SNAP. This is for i mediate help…hahahaha, sorry but the ‘immediate’ made me spontaneously laugh.

Actually, I had a very good experience with FEMA – in fact, I thought they should be more strict about how they decide what to reimburse. They didn’t even ask for receipts. The guy came to my house and took photos, interviewed me, and I had to electronically “sign” an application. I got a check pretty quickly, but beats me how they decided how much to pay me. Odd.

Well, obviously you were incorrectly listed as an illegal alien or some other protected class on their list. 🙄

My experience with FEMA was largely their work in hindering operations during Katrina, but that was ten years ago and they are sooooo much better now – on top of that it was the Bush Adminstration’s fault. There, now that’s out of my system…
We didn’t personally deal with FEMA as we had little damage and full homeowner’s/flood insurance so we dealt with the maggot, foreign, disinterested and otherwise useless for-hire adjusters the insurance companies hired to screw us. Helps when you are in uniform and are heavily armed, but I digress…
Peole they’re dealing with out here are the day-workers who own the trucks they drive or have lower paying blue collar jobs, all those types who make citified bureaucrats a bit queasy. News is on now confirming the paperwork requirements, the physical sites and how you have to go in at appointed times according to first letter of your last name.

Ours wasn’t flooding, either. We had lots of rain, but what we suffered was sewer backup into our basements – on a widespread basis. Thousands of us. I am near a freeway, and I heard that they redirected water from the “ditch” into our sewers and storm sewers. I had two feet of mixed storm and sewer water in my basement. It was bad.
LikeLiked by 1 person
P.S.: I now have sewer backup insurance coverage, but limited to $5,000 in damages. That covers replacement of my furnace and water heat, dehumidifier etc.

Thanks to the military sending me to strange, wondrous and largely unhygienic places I’ve become rayhet blase’ about slogginghrough sewerage – came in handy during Katrina. You could tell the troopers from the more stay-at-home types, we didn’t have the ‘ugh’,’ack ‘, ‘OMGOMGOMG’ looks on our faces and didn’t have as much trouble chowing down on the MREs in the al fresco odeur de pissoir environment.
I had the final outflow tank in the anaerobic septic system built on the downslope so that
I get warning from the thrones when a severe rain floods in he tanks but all I have to do is fire up the pump and feed the trees.

Interesting he owns he ranch, might be a story in itself about how he got the ranch and how/why it became a hideaway for the powerful.

He was in politics, as well as military.
John Marlan Poindexter (born August 12, 1936) is a retired United States naval officer and Department of Defense official. He was Deputy National Security Advisor and National Security Advisor for the Reagan administration. He was convicted in April 1990 of multiple felonies as a result of his actions in the Iran–Contra affair, but his convictions were reversed on appeal in 1991. More recently, he served a brief stint as the director of the DARPA Information Awareness Office for the George W. Bush administration. He is the father of NASA astronaut and U.S. Navy Captain Alan G. Poindexter.

He seems to have had the connections to leverage. Passed on a direct commission, I liked my job as a senior NCO and was lousy at politics so it was probably best I stayed where I was. I know a number of officers who parlayed their positions into well-feathered nests and every now and then I have twangs about the fatter retirement checks I could have had biut they pass quickly.
My point man and personal beacon from Iran-Contra is retired MG Singlaub who’s had a storybook military career from WWII to date, he’s a soldier I’d go through a door with without having to be asked or ordered. Between Watergate and Iran-Contra we had a raft of patriots who openly put the country before their personal gain – hear that DC? I sometimes wonder if their punishments were more motivated by the prosecution’s embarrassment at the actors bravery on the face of progressive trash than the fact of law.

McCain’s on CNN talking about what he says our steps should be after the Brussels’s attack. Lemme guess, step one is to forget about that pic of him doing friendly selfies with the proto-
ISIS guys…

Let’s not forget that despite the whining various officials are doing about how easily terrs travel from the US or Europe to fight with ISIS and return, many are using ratlines established by these countries, or with these countries having turned a blind but knowing eye to their being established.
We, and other countries, set up/allowed these lines as thry fed fighters to the Muj during the Russian Afghan debacle, they suited our purposes. Now they serve the needs of our enemies and our roles in their formation are being carefully swept under the rug.

Bulls$$t-o-meter ( yes Mike, same one…) starting to peg. Bureaucrats from Europe to local here on tv blathering on about how we will defy the terrs by going on about our daily lives, unaffected but aware. We will show them how we are not deterred from being sheeple and will continue to sip the fool aid.
We are being told that no attacks are known to be imminent, but then when in the last 15 years have we been warned an attack was expected in the next 10 minutes…2 hours…7 days….you get the idea. Ever wanna see some Honeland Security bureaupuppet get up there and say :
“Folks, we have no $&€%#¥% idea what’s going on or what will happen but we’ll let you know within two hours of it hitting the news…unless it’s after regular hours, on a weekend or a Federal, state or local, holiday. Sorry but you’re on your own, good luck.”
