Report: Lawyer for Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown families backs Clinton

          http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/268411-lawyer-for-families-of-trayvon-martin-michael-brown-endorses-clinton

Prominent civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump endorsed Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton, BuzzFeed reported on Friday.

Crump gained national attention for representing the families of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown, two black teenagers who were both killed while unarmed in separate incidents.

The attorney has become a national figure in the Black Lives Matter movement, and joins a growing group of black activists who have endorsed Clinton, including Martin’s mother Sybrina Fulton as well as Eric Garner’s mother Gwen Carr.

              1. My nightmare woke me up at 1:30 this morning but it was that a mountain lion had killed my dogs and was starting on my goats. I jumped up and was trying to open the safe(have to keep all the guns up now that a toddler who loves guns is around a lot) and then realized it was just a dream.

The dogs were barking, which is probably what started my dream, but whatever it was they chased off.

I always though do get them a rabies booster, the majority of the time they don’t bite them when they’ve been sprayed, but I don’t like to take any chances with rabies. Had a dog get rabies years ago and never want to repeat that experience.

          2. My father in law once traded a case of his home made beer for dynamite. I don’t know why, that beer used to blow up and spray all over the basement, so he could have used that to clear the rocks when he was building his house. Did it right inside the city, back in the mid to late 80’s I think it was. No one ever came, he just blew boulders up and that was it.

It chaps my hide that when I go buy lime these days I have to sign a piece of paper stating I’m using it for agricultural purposes and if I didn’t live on a farm they would limit me to one bag. We don’t even use it for fertilizer, we use it in the barn every year because it’s good to keep coccidia away and then we use it on the ground if we have ever have a sick animal. We also still make a white wash out of it to paint inside the barns. But the darn government needs a record of it.

There was one day in late Autumn when the smell of skunk was so strong that it made my eyes water I was hoping the littler critter had been made into road pizza but I didn’t see his stinking corpse anywhere so I suspect he sprayed something and ran off.

          1. If you ever shoot one, make sure you do it far, far away.

They often though just wander through, but will den under sheds and buildings. There is a fix for that as well, with the way the laws are these days it might no longer be legal, but you can take an egg, poke a small hole in it and put some mole poison in it. The mama skunk takes it back and her and the baby skunks eat it and no more skunk den.

I really hate skunks, not only do they stink and carry rabies, but they eat chicken eggs and they bite the heads off chickens.

    7. Best advice from my vet when I lived in Spokane, Washington, in a skunk-filled neighborhood near the Little Spokane River: tomato juice only works if you mix it with ammonia. But better than that is to wash the dog with Joy dishwashing detergent and then apply Massengil douche like a cream rinse. May need to repeat, depending on how badly the dog got skunked. It really works, and smells so much better than skunk + tomato juice.

    4. Cruz reminds me a fellow who took me out on a date, I was about 20 and the night was uneventful but he just gave me a bad feeling, fast forward to going home. He asks to walk me to the door, “No, really I’m fine” he gets out of the car anyhow and walks me to the door.

He asks me for a goodnight kiss, I tell him “No, thank you, I need to get inside” . He smiles a slimy little smile, and says “Your words say no, but your mouth says yes.” πŸ™„

I roll my eyes and tell him to stay away from me and get off my porch. He smirked and told me I didn’t know what I was missing.

Yep and I can live with that.

  18. Good day, everyone! I hate Winter. Got snow last night (not much), and it’s cold again. I guess I shouldn’t complain (but I will anyway), because it has been fairly mild so far.

The Sky Is Low, The Clouds Are Mean, – Poem by Emily Dickinson

The sky is low, the clouds are mean,
    A travelling flake of snow
Across a barn or through a rut
    Debates if it will go.

A narrow wind complains all day
    How some one treated him;
Nature, like us, is sometimes caught
    Without her diadem.

Washington Island’s main beach doesn’t have sand it is a rock beach (Schoolhouse Beach) and it has smooth stones that are tossed across the Bay and deposited on the shore. I have only been there once.

I thought it was stunning. No bugs while I was there in August. I plan to go back this summer for a few days πŸ™‚

I was whining yesterday morning and my DH told me it could be much colder with snow on the ground instead of frost. I told him that I would be whining then too, but that these warm days are making the cold days even worse, so I think I’d prefer it just to stay cold until winter is over.

  19. Turned on Glenn Beck’s second hour. Made it 12 minutes before turning it off. Topic was Sarah Palin’s confusing support of Trump. He was going on about the terms/labels of “liberal” vs. “conservative”. He again repeats that progressives hijacked the term “liberal” over 100 years ago. This is one of the things that bother me about him. He just stopped learning and reading history around 1890. And nobody listening to him can go read for themselves either.
The term “liberal” as it is used now has always meant what it does. It was never hijacked. It came out of the period of enlightenment 1685-1815 that culminated French Revolution (which was repeated with the Maidan in Ukraine, and Egypt, and… you get the idea).

The enlightenment was that there is no God and therefore no Kings and all Western society laws are false and to be destroyed or discarded. New laws will be made by the group (hand twinkles).

        1. But there is a big difference between being happy that you got away with something, being happy that you screwed people out of money, being happy that you have fooled and continued to fool people and being joyful.

Hillary lives looking over her shoulder, she lives knowing that she is a fraud and may be exposed at any time, Hillary is beholden to those who have dirt on, she is in a constant game of chicken with corrupt people and it shows on her face, in her eyes and even in her voice.

She is a nervous shrill wreck IMO. You can see the relief on her face when she once again thinks that her answer is sufficient to hold off the dogs.

          A woman without joy.

I really believe she thinks she is untouchable and doesn’t worry about a thing. She may be right, they haven’t touched her yet. Never understand it.

Congress Wants To Turn The US Postal Service… Into A Bank

    http://www.valuewalk.com/2016/02/congress-wants-to-turn-the-us-postal-service-into-a-bank/

It’s news that seems ripped from the pages of The Onion. Or perhaps Atlas Shrugged.

But incredibly enough it’s actually true: earlier this week, Congress proposed a new law authorizing the US Postal Service to provide banking and financial services.

It’s called the β€œProviding Opportunities for Savings, Transactions, and Lending” Act, abbreviated as… wait for it… the POSTAL Act.

And it provides explicit authorization for them to provide banking services including checking and savings accounts, money transfers, and β€œother basic financial services as the Postal Service deems appropriate in the public interest.”

Bank of the Post Office. It’s incredible when you think about it.

The US Postal Service hasn’t turned a profit in a decade.

As a matter of fact, its total accumulated losses now exceed $51 billion, easily ranking it among the least successful companies in history.

In an increasing anti-Christian era where a president openly declared β€œGod Bless” on Planned Parenthood, Catholic nuns have jumped into the fray to elect his successor, abortion advocate Hillary Clinton.

With songs and slogans, 13 congregations of Catholic Sisters of the Upper Mississippi River Valley hit the campaign trail in Iowa earlier this week.

In an all-out effort β€œto call for an end to environmentally destructive policies and practices”, the environmental activist nuns placed more than 20 billboards in strategic locations throughout state, southwest Wisconsin and western Illinois in time for the Feb. 1st Iowa caucuses.

  33. Well my family decided it was family night and we were all going out to eat. They were all in on it.
I live in the sticks and they took me to some other sticks, I was beginning to think they all were planning on dumping me off. lol
We finally get there to what once was an Indian town they told me, established in 1879. The building out in the middle of nowhere looked like it might have been built in 1879. We walk in and it looks like a store and then they ask if we were there to eat and told us to walk on through towards the back.
In the back were 8 foot folding tables put together and all kinds of mismatched chairs, from folding chairs, kitchen chairs to office chairs. There was also a bar that didn’t look it was in service anymore, an old band stand that didn’t look it had anyone play on it for quite some time, pool tables where folks were shooting pool, drinking beer and smoking cigarettes and an old jukebox.

It was like a step back in time. Then the waitress, one of the owners, I come to find out, comes over and sits down and asks what we want. My DH tells her we’ve never been there before, they just learned about it, so she tells him they have fried chicken, bbq ribs and bbq brisket, sides are baked beans, coleslaw and potato salad. We can each get a plate of each or a combination and two sides or we can get a family serving with everything, which is what we got. All of the meat came out on one platter, sides in mixing bowls, several slices of wonder bread on a plate and then a bottle of chicken sauce and a bottle of meat sauce, the sauces tasted good but you better like hot. Paper plates, plastic silverware, paper towels for napkins and bottles of soda because your choices were bottles of soda or bottles of beer.
Although I was very skeptical I must say I have never eaten fried chicken that good and the ribs and brisket were pretty darn good as well. The sides were all good as well. Everything homemade and although they didn’t say it I’m pretty darn sure that chicken didn’t come from a store.

Before we left we learned from some people sitting at the same table as us that they have been eating here for 30 years and that it’s always been the same food and once the bar was fully stocked and they had a live band. Dinner always started being served somewhere around 5 or 5:30 depending on when it was ready every Friday and Saturday night and they keep serving until all the food is gone. That back in the day they stayed open until the band got tired or all the people got tired and went home, whichever came first. They’ve never advertised and it’s always been just word of mouth.

So it was a good evening, I didn’t get dumped off and received a history lesson, learned something new, met new people and ate good food that I didn’t have to cook and the price wasn’t bad for these days. $80 for 6 of us and we couldn’t finish all the food.

There were teens, young families, young couples and old couples. Men and women with cow poop on their boots and men and women all dressed up on a Friday night.

Across the road was even an old wood pavilion with handmade wood pews. You could almost hear the old time revival in the wind.

              2. Yea. Hell no. I am staying away from whatever is going on, I predicted things would head this way, sadly CTH is becoming unrecognizable to me. (Nothing to do with Hebegj, who I like very much,) just the tone that has permeated the CTH is IMO simply sad and disappointing. Ganging up, calling people Cruz Bots because they have a valid criticism against Trump but still support him. Bragging about trolling at other sites. This is nothing I didn’t say at TCTH.

                But, no thank you.

People are going to turn on SD because he allowed them to view him as all seeing and all knowing, he didn’t come out and say, hey I jumped the gun and I was wrong here about anything when he was wrong (at least not that I know of). IMO things are going to get vey ugly there and it really makes me sad.

Stella if you’d rather I shut my mouth just say the word or delete my post, I’m really not sure what is acceptable etiquette when it come to this matter.

I won’t delete your post, but please don’t make this a “them versus us” kind of thing. Don’t forget that I – and others who post here – are part of the CTH admin team, and that SD has been our partner for years. 1. My apologies Stella. I posted my opinion at the CTH about the direction that I think it is taking a while back. I didn’t mean to trash SD, I was offering my opinion as to why I think the TCTH is going off track, you and the other moderators and SD have worked for years to make the TCTH something other than just another cage fight on the internet.

I have no desire to make this a we against them as it is a foolish exercise in futility that leads to nonsense and personal pithy fights. The last thing I want to do is put your site in the middle of a internet argument.

I thought my observation about Sundance was self evident, I understand that you are a moderator there as are some of your posters here, the last thing I want is to do is turn this into we against them. That simply wasn’t my intention.

I am going to take a break from both sites as I think my unease with what is going on over at TCTH has colored my take on things.

I do agree that hebejg’s post was inappropriate and he alone is responsible for his post but the climate of TCTH is certainly more conducive than it ever has been in my time there to posts like hebejgs being part of the norm.

      2. This is what Sundance wrote. I highly overreacted. Obviously I should quit reading at 10:00 at night. πŸ™„

I’m putting this here for later reference.
This is why Donald Trump will place no better than THIRD on Tuesday.
TWO EVENTS in New Hampshire in the last four days. (Friday 0, Saturday 0, Sunday 1, Monday 1) of the primary is not the schedule of a person who wants to win.
Sorry, the truth has no agenda and facts are facts.
Third place, maybe Fourth – and the narrative is the campaign collapsed.

  35. Clark County, Nevada. What a surprise.

Harry Reid’s Son Representing Chinese Solar Panel Plant in $5 Billion Nevada Deal

    http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2012/09/04/harry-reid-s-son-representing-chinese-solar-panel-plant-in-5-billion-nevada-deal/

The son of Senate Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), Rory Reid, is the primary representative for ENN Energy Group, a Chinese energy company seeking to build a $5 billion solar panel plant on a 9,000-acre Clark County desert plot in Laughlin, Nevada.

ENN scored big when Clark County commissioners unanimously voted to sell the Chinese company the public land for just $4.5 million, despite the fact that it was appraised at $38.6 million.

Sen. Reid has been one of ENN’s biggest supporters, having recruited the company during a 2011 trip to China. According to Reuters, last month Sen. Reid tried to β€œpressure Nevada’s largest power company, NV Energy, to sign up as ENN’s first customer.”

    1. With a captive audience for the super bowl halftime. Team Trump could probably made a 5 minute infomercial using the money not spent all last year.

    2. I think it is likely somewhat accurate.

Trump is used to winning by offering the best package, he now has to adjust his business acumen, to a political acumen. He has to turn his base into paying customers under conditions which Trump has not yet attuned his negotiating skills.

Trump has to offer more than the best package he has to offer the best package in a way that is palatable to those who go to the voting booth. He has to do a better job of explaining why his presidency is essential rather than telling voters why it is essential.

Again I think Trump’s biggest mistake is underestimating the dumb out there. An example of Trump not understanding the prevalence of dumb is that Trump thinks because it is self evident that what Cruz did in Iowa was a terrible thing to do that once people were made aware of what Cruz did people will realize that Cruz is a charlatan. If Trump sees it, he thinks everyone sees it.

      That IMO is Trumps frustration.

      Short story about Trump;

When Ivanka was about 6 she received girl toys for Christmas while the boys received Legos. Ivanka was jealous as she loved to build. So she took Legos and locked herself in a room.

She built a replica of Trump Tower.

“My father, in scolding me, was never so proud,” she recounted years later.

Then her dad came to her a couple of days later and Ivanka could tell that her dad was upset. Remember she is 6. And her father told her, with a pained look on his face, “You know Ivanka, the Trump Tower has 4 insets (sorry I can’t remember the correct architectural word) and you put 5 on your Lego Tower. It is a fond memory for Ivanka and she used it as an example of what defines her father.

America is not so ready to make the cognitive leap as did a 6 year old.

Genius has its downfalls. Trump has to teach rather than preach. I have no doubt that Ivanka and the boys are imbuing that lesson in their father as I type.

      ***

This has the first portion of the Lego story the second part is in an interview which I can’t find at the moment.

      1. I also think that people don’t “get” his sense of humor, either. Or some choose not to.

        1. I started picking up on his sense of humor right at the beginning. Just the fact that the more they made fun of his hair, the more he put it out there to be made fun of.

      2. I think at this point, too, Trump has to start telling people what he stands for and what his plans are to change things. I think what he has laid out on his website is great, but he can’t assume that all people are going to bother to go there to read it. In fact, he can’t assume that most people are going to bother to go there. He needs to give at least some tidbits to make them interested enough to read on their own.
