Very important read, IMO:
Uncomfortable Truth-Telling in “Tet Take Two” — the Left singularity approacheth

Mary, arm and ammo up! Quietly start at least a 30 day supply of everything, food, batteries, essential household items, secondary source for water purification, food preparation. Usually there’s a trigger point, in this case we might miss this. Stay vigilant!

Thank you for your concern, Col . We have a head start, but will work on it more diligently.
One of the few benefits of living in CA are the frequent reminders of being prepared in case of earthquakes–esp. in this area [sandwiched between the San Andreas Fault and Rogers Creek/Hayward Faults] . Would like to be elsewhere, but it is what it is.

Morning Stella! Very wind here, intermittent, Temps are slowing dropping. Waiting for the dusting of snow (1″-3″).
This whole issue will not end well.

This sentence encapsulates Islam.
Most simply distilled, in the earthly realm, these Islamic texts offer immoral men sanction for thrill-killing, looting, raping, and capturing infidel slaves, and when these jihadists are killed, they are promised a perpetual orgy with seventy-two nubile virgin slave girls in Mohammed’s sick, evil and perverted Muslim paradise.
Even more succinctly as Muhammad’s child bride Aisha said “I appears that your Lord hastens in fulfilling your wishes and desires.”
I haven’t gotten beyond the first part about Islam.

Yatz’s and PZ well done. You have stirred my thought processes from long ago. Using the Tet attack, my two big take aways are: NVA eliminated the main force Viet Cong, and Americas political will to fight was snuffed out by Walter Cronkite. Imagine if Walter Cronkite had said this about “the battle of Ardennes ’44”. Or the brutal combat on Okinawa in ’45.
Outstanding PZ, hope you are well.

Cronkite was a globalist and (should I say it?) a traitor. Did you read the Gates of Vienna article? It’s long, but very good (linked by PZ, and by me, above).

More on the subject:
The Western Spring, Richard Fernandez
One advantage the United States theoretically enjoys over Europe during periods of free-surface flooding is the Constitution. This serves as a foundation, a sort of ballast which lowers the meta-centric height of the ship of state and keeps it on an even keel in all but the roughest sailing.
It was meant to provide a check against excesses from either side in a political duel. The Constitution itself used to rest upon an even more basic rock, a widely shared set of assumptions, moral and religious beliefs which obtained at the beginnings of the nation. That gave it tremendous stabilizing power. Unfortunately the left has steadily chipped away at this Constitutional ballast and the stone on which it was builded, a fact they may regret before long.

Morning everyone! It’s raining and snow is expected later on tonight! Now for a few hours of sleep. I just knew those Steelers would lose. That game was not football, it was a legal street brawl. The NFL should be ashamed of putting a product (game) like this one on National TV.

Hey Col. the Steelers won. The game was terrible. #55 on the Bengals was terrible.
The snow has stopped here but it is supposed to be 10 degrees tomorrow 😦

I watched bits and pieces of it while I was channel surfing and then watched the end of the game. Bengals shot themselves in the foot with the two stupid penalties. They had the game won then gave it away.
I though could care less about the NFL anymore, between their liberal policies and doing their best to turn it into flag football it quit being any fun to watch. Not to mention the pink, my goodness their constant obsession with trying to appeal to women turned this woman off. The little pink bow on the uniforms was enough, we didn’t need to see pink socks, gloves, shoes, etc.

The northern Atlantic, and parts of the norther Pacific when ice forms on the outside of ships. Many years ago was reading WW2 convoy escort reports taking war supplies into northern Russian ports. Also reports on supply/troop ships around the Aleutian Island chain.

We are being warned basically not to send our children out to the bus stop in bathing suits or our naked bodies as sleds. Oh and “Bundle up!!”
🙄

It’s so annoying anymore. We’re not all stupid or wilting flowers and neither are our animals. The people who are will still send their children to the bus stop in shorts.
I think they just like being dramatic and make mountains out of mole hills.
I have a twisted sense of humor because every winter they warm people of the dangers of portable generators and portable propane/kerosene heaters. Yet every winter some idiot kills themselves by running one or the other inside the house.

Around here we aren’t well prepared for snow and ice because why should we be? It’s rare, it would be utter stupidity to have all the equipment that you guys do, or they have up north. Consequently, people panic at snow forecasts, and grocery shelves literally empty. Little blue haired old ladies fight over a loaf of bread or roll of toilet paper.
It’s not as bad as it used to be, but it still gets crazy. I may be the only person in Georgia who refuses to go to the store when they predict bad weather. Unless it’s my normal day and I really am out of everything, which never happens, I am not going. If we have to resort to heating canned peas on the grill, we won’t starve. People are stupid.
That being said, if I’m low on coffee, I will go into town to the little shop where the lady roasts coffee right there and grab a pound. I’m spoiled about my coffee, and I’ll do without it only if I gotta.

Morning Menagerie, sounds like your on a roll! So order a 5lbs bag of coffee, kohana, from the 50th state!

We’re really not all that prepared either. The state and some towns have snowplows and the turnpike authority has been bragging about their new huge plows, which is a waste of money imho as we don’t have enough snow to warrant them.
Usually though only major highways get much done to them.
I have a friend who was raised in Washington state and she’s always said when she first moved here she laughed at people freaking out over snow and ice until she learned that they don’t have the same kind of equipment as they had back home and most roads are left alone.
We do though have the people who buy out the bread and milk. My daughter had to go buy the baby juice Friday and she said the bread aisle was bare and the only milk left was soy, almond and chocolate milk and one half gallon of whole milk that two older women were arguing over.lol
LikeLiked by 4 people
Two years ago? Maybe three. We had a big scandal because we had a very snowy winter and people were noticing the salt trucks/plows were late in getting started and they seemed to be taking long breaks and the snow kept piling up.
It turned out that our salt storage units were generally empty because a friend of someone in the government, I can’t remember who but someone in waste management I believe had a friend in a town about 15 miles away and the city rented their remote storage facility rather than using property we already owned to store our salt.
So what should have taken maybe 15 minutes to refill a truck bed with salt was taking well over an hour. Then of course the roads were far worse by the time the trucks got back and it took them longer to clear them.
LikeLiked by 3 people
Personally, since we don’t get that much bad weather I’d just rather they ignore the roads. If we get more than 2 or 3 they do anyway because they wasted all of their supply on the first one or two. It also never fails those they wasted their supplies on weren’t that bad and would have been gone in a day or two, but the bad one comes along and stays on the roads for a week or longer.

This is so great 😀
I tried to read the entire Rolling Stone article but I couldn’t get through it. Penn is a terrible writer who is fully smitten with his own insufferable love letter to his own dull writing.
Then there is this line which in retrospect Mr. Penn may or may not find sobering;
This will be the first interview El Chapo had ever granted outside an interrogation room, leaving me no precedent by which to measure the hazards.
I think Penn fancies himself a Don Quixote.
Ah! Alas but what am but an owl among falcons 😀

Chapo’s disproportionate head, the rectangle face and his jowls remind me of Jeb.
I hope we get him on US soil before he finds someone to pay off. I read that as of now he has about 6 stall technics to stop extraction and his attorneys will play them out one at a time, keeping him in Mexico as long as they can.
