Aaron Farinacci, 37, was arrested late Monday afternoon in connection with the Old Trails Fire, the Spokane County sheriff said.

A 37-year-old Spokane, Washington, resident with a previous manslaughter conviction was arrested Monday in connection with the largest of the region’s three wildfires, which have displaced thousands of people and destroyed hundreds of structures, authorities said.

Aaron Farinacci, 37, was taken into custody without incident with the help of a SWAT team after a judge signed a warrant based on an allegation of first-degree arson, Spokane County Sheriff John Nowels said at an evening news conference.

Farinacci was being held on $1 million bond, he said. It was unclear whether he has been formally charged or has a lawyer, and the Spokane County public defender’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday night.

Arron Forrest Farinacci’s previous manslaughter conviction was for the death of his father!!!

I googled common traits of arsonists. AI came up with this…

Understanding the psychological profile of arsonists reveals several key traits.

      • Impulsivity — Many arsonists exhibit impulsive behavior, often acting without forethought.
      • Social Isolation — Arsonists frequently experience social isolation, lacking strong interpersonal connections.
      • Childhood Trauma — A significant number have histories of childhood trauma or neglect, influencing their behavior.
      • Emotional Dysregulation — They often struggle with managing emotions, leading to destructive actions.
      • Diverse Motivations — Arsonists can be motivated by revenge, excitement, profit, or concealment

My daughter and her family have been displaced by this fire. Last time I heard from her, they had been evacuated, but their home was OK. Haven’t heard from her in a couple days. if one is so inclined, please say a prayer for them.

      I don’t understand this at all. 😦

A lot of people are calling for the death penalty for the arsonist. If someone dies as a result of the fire he set, then that will be a possibility. If he’s convicted, he deserves at least a life sentence without possibility of parole.

From other articles I read this morning, it’s obvious the guy is mentally ill. He’s received lenient treatment by the courts even though he shot and killed his father after being asked to do the dishes. Subsequently, he was going to kill his mother but instead turned and ran from his house.

Spokane is a conservative city and county; so it’s likely he will receive his just deserts. But who knows?
