This Southern Beach Just Earned Top Spot In The U.S. For A Second Year In A Row

This spot was chosen for its powdery white sand, gentle slope, and shallow, calm waters.

Loki is my little mutt. 🙂

      I love avocados, especially guacamole.

Raspberry cake sounds good so I will have it with vanilla ice cream.

I am not sure there are any elevators in the little town I live in.

Good afternoon, Czarina! Good afternoon, Lucille, Wee and Stella!

Taking a Stella’s Place break and came up this gnarly discussion. That word’s definition is as twisted as its original meaning. So, for a bit of fun, I headed out to reddit to find out more.

Credit to “There’s No Hurry” on Reddit. (Could not post the link as it had an auto-embed feature.)

“It’s the sort of word that is generally used very, very informally.

You’re mostly right about the meaning. But it’s very context dependant.

      Some examples:

      • seeing a skateboard trick – “wow that’s gnarly” – it means cool
      • seeing a guy fall whilst attempting a trick – “damn, that’s a gnarly fall” – it means that looks dangerous and intense
      • somebody asks you to do a difficult skateboard trick – “I’m not sure, it looks pretty gnarly” – meaning it looks very difficult
      • someone shows you their scraped knee after they fell from their skateboard – “ew! Gnarly!” – meaning that looks impressive and/or painful and gross

Story time: I once shattered my collarbone and the doctor (a very young guy) said to me “wow, that’s a gnarly bone break”.”

That last statement was worth the trip!

Good day to you, Reflection! I’ve never vocalized or written the word in my life.

          Lucille,

I, too, really had no idea, save for the word “gnarled” and its definition of twisted, generally from age. Certainly a far cry from Czarina’s sharing of a surfer term.

So, I searched to see if there was any connection between the two.

Good day, Carina! I’ll take the mutts and avocados, please. As with humans, mutts, too, can eat moderate amounts of avocado but only sliced or cubed. The skin and seed can be toxic to dogs.

Good morning everyone, hope you have a great week. Heading off to Florida for a week here in a little bit.

Czarina, put me down for chocolate raspberry truffle on that ice cream, and I’ll just splurge and have a piece of that raspberry cake too. I wonder if I should know what getting gnarly means? Am I missing something?

I wonder if we’re going to get an early fall this year. Sure do have lots of Canadian geese coming to the pond the last week or two. Maybe they’re sick of the smoke.

Mornin’ All. Summer continues here with several more fires burning around us. One, or some, in Oregon and one North of us. We can’t see the mountains around us right now. So far, no rain in sight.

Hope you all are safe and can enjoy the day.
