Stellars….
“The town’s narrow cobblestone lanes are lined with pastel-colored houses, traditional inns, and historic churches that reflect its medieval origins. Overlooking the town is the iconic Säben Abbey, perched on a rocky hilltop and offering spectacular panoramic views of the Isarco Valley. Surrounded by vineyards, alpine peaks, and picturesque landscapes, Chiusa is a perfect destination for those seeking history, nature, and authentic South Tyrolean culture. With its blend of medieval architecture, mountain scenery, and peaceful atmosphere, Chiusa stands as one of northern Italy’s most captivating hidden gems.”
Chiusa (Klausen) changed hands numerous times over the centuries. This is a rather odd but fun video about South Tyrol and its convoluted history (the channel proprietor has quite a heavy accent; so you might turn on closed captions).

Pro-Life Ad With Boxing Legend Manny Pacquiao Approved for World Cup
Posted July 17, 2026

Pacquiao’s involvement in the ad campaign also carries special significance given his long-standing public pro-life convictions. In addition to his historic boxing career, Pacquiao served in the Philippine Senate from 2016 to 2022, where he was known not only as a national sports icon, but as a public figure willing to speak openly about faith, family, and the value of human life.

Good mornin’, Lucille! I never knew this guy was on our side of the fence. That’s awesome. Coffee’s ready whenever you are, ma’am.

Good afternoon, Texan! I’m definitely ready for some black coffee.
I love that Pacquiao is so vocal, fearless really. A great role model for the youth (and most everyone else) in the Philippines.

It is. Christmas morning breakfast for us usually, as a treat. You prepare it the night before and just pop in the oven when you want to cook it. I try to make it for my sons’ families so they can have a pre carefree Christmas morning with their families.

Morning, czarina! Ice cream again, of course, along with some of that tropical fruit. Had fresh pineapple with a yogurt/cottage cheese combo for breakfast.

I’m in for tropical fruit, especially pineapple and coconut.
Good idea to get rid of the “Could Haves” and “I Should Haves”.
Woodie Wagons were so cool “back then”.
Yes, on the rocky road ice cream.

Good day, Czarina! I’ll take a 1946 Ford Woodie Wagon, please. Wow, just to drive around in this one….
…and look at this thing of beauty…a 1941 Packard…
AI says: In 1941, the price of a Packard Woodie Wagon varied depending on the model, with the standard version priced at $1,250 and the deluxe model at $1,325. Adjusted for inflation, this would be approximately $23,500 today. At auction, it could fetch $95,000 for the seller.
Sorry, when I think of Nelson Mandela I don’t think of him politically like the UN wants us to. Instead I think of the June 11th, 1988 greatest rock concert in history at Wembley Stadium in honor of his 70th birthday (which I taped on VHS and kept for years) and this fabulous Eric Clapton/Dire Straits collaboration on WONDERFUL TONIGHT…
Has any other man ever worn a Giorgio Armani suit with more presence than Eric? I don’t think so!!

Texan, though your red coffee pot in this style is my favorite, the blue one is a very close second. Nostalgia written all over it. Thanks!

Mornin’ All. It is 72*, heading to 90*. It is sunny and mostly clear blue skies for now. We had a chance for rain yesterday evening, but it never happened.
My granddaughters had a birthday party for both the older ones. Their birthdays are a day apart. They have two separate parties and cakes, but had one family party together last night. My two year old grandson stayed pretty busy playing at his new, bought at a garage sale, little workbench that is just his size. He was playing with a small socket set, a real one, and was totally engrossed in it. I couldn’t imagine him sitting there for about an hour. My son says he is very interested when he sees his dad working on the truck or fixing anything.
Well, try to protect yourselves from the smoke and heat.

Afternoon, mom! The smoke is pretty much gone here, at least for today, because the winds have shifted. I hope it stays that way.
Sounds like good birthday fun!

Good day, aus! We’re at 86 degrees and it’s a lovely day. Being out on one of the local lakes must be wonderful if you’re clothed and hatted to prevent a bad sunburn.
Looks like your grandson would do well in various trade classes.
Take care!

D.C. Circuit Court Clears the Way for USPS to Enforce President Trump’s Requirement — States Must Turn Over Voter Rolls for Citizenship Checks or USPS Won’t Deliver Mail Ballots in the 2026 Midterms
By Jim Hᴏft Jul. 18, 2026 8:00 am
A federal court has declined, for now, to block a U.S. Postal Service rule tied to President Donald Trump’s executive order on election administration, allowing the policy to remain in place while legal challenges continue.
The ruling clears the way for the USPS to move forward with rules that force states to submit their voter rolls for citizenship checks if they expect the Postal Service to deliver mail-in and absentee ballots for the November midterms.
