Good mornin’, and happy Tuesday! Since it’s taco day, I wanted to stay with that theme. But, I brought out reinforcements. Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee.

Mornin’ All. A really beautiful day here, hot in the sun and cool in the shade. Can’t beat it. We will, however accept some rain if you could send it back this way.

I am kinda excited, my granddaughters are coming over to choose some material to make doll dresses and then dresses for themselves. I am going to teach them how to sew their own. Their other grandma makes the most beautiful quilts I have ever seen, but she doesn’t sew clothing. We worked on learning about patterns last week and I was surprised at how well they listened and how confident they were, even the 5 yr old. If you think I am bragging, well, you’re right. My DIL is homeschooling them and doing a really great job.

Hope the rain lets up if you are getting a lot right now. Enjoy the day.

In case you don’t know where this came from. It refers to Monty Python’s Ministry of Silly Walks. It is on YouTube.

I could spend days in an antique store like this….

This Victorian baker’s counter was fully restored from a painted white finish, revealing quarter-sawn oak, swing-out flour bins, deep drawers, original embossed cast iron hardware, and the craftsmanship of the Olde Good Things restoration team.

Pecan Sandies were once my favorite grocery store cookie. Detroit Style pizza is the best!

Good day, Czarina! National Hydration Day is a proper reminder how important it is to stay hydrated. One big problem today is that water sources may be contaminated. Trusting your water sources entails research. You can’t assume all bottled waters are good for you, especially those in plastic. You’d be surprised how regulations which our governments are supposed to uphold are no where near adequate to protect us from heavy metals.

AI says: Heavy metals in water can pose significant health risks and environmental concerns. Common heavy metals include lead, arsenic, mercury, and cadmium, which can enter water sources through industrial discharge, agricultural runoff, and urban development.

      Sources of Contamination

      • Industrial Activities: Factories often release heavy metals into nearby water bodies.
      • Agricultural Runoff: Pesticides and fertilizers can leach heavy metals into groundwater.
      • Urban Runoff: Stormwater can carry metals from roads and buildings into water systems.

      Health Effects

      • Toxicity: Long-term exposure to heavy metals can lead to serious health issues, including neurological damage and cancer.
      • Bioaccumulation: These metals can accumulate in aquatic organisms, affecting the entire food chain.

      Detection and Treatment

Filtration: Advanced filtration systems can effectively remove heavy metals from drinking water

Testing: Home water testing kits can identify heavy metal contamination.

Pecan Sandies have their own day?!

I wonder if you can make them at home.

So many commercial cookies have changed to less flavorful versions, due to changes in the ingredients.
