Whenever I think of sea otters I remember the book in my primary school library titled “Sammy The Sea Otter.” That was probably around 1950. At the time it became my favorite book which I read numerous times and recommended it to my classmates.

Just a few minutes ago I looked up the title and found the book for sale. However, the various articles mentioned that particular version was published in 2017 and written by Cindy Shanks. There was no mention of an earlier book by the same title.

So I called upon AI and it immediately came up with the following:

“A children’s book titled ‘Sammy the Sea Otter‘ fitting the late 1940s/early 1950s timeline was written by Lillian E. Pariseau and illustrated by Paul Hazelrigg. It was published around 1951, often appearing as part of an early nature education series for children.

“Note: Modern titles with the same name, such as the 2017 book by Cindy Shanks, are not the original 1950s version.”

    Puzzle solved! Thanks, Sammy!
