Excuse my ignorance here, I listened to the entire podcast, questions and all…but I really do not understand Ms. Kokinda’s U.S.A. economic system vs the British economic system proposition.
It doesn’t seem to me the Brits run the world. They’re just limping along with scandal after scandal, loss after loss, stupidity after stupidity with a royal family figurehead institution mostly comprised of narcissistic nut cases and brainless wonders plus a few with good character but no ability to influence their government whatsoever.
Sorry…I just don’t get it.

It isn’t the British government. What she refers to is the economic system.

Honestly, Stella, I had no idea! It had never crossed my mind that the British economic system was the bad guy. Instead I’ve always heard about how the Brits left behind economic structure/banking and infrastructure like the excellent railroads, highways, etc. which supposedly completely benefited the colonies in Africa, India, and the various island nations.
I started college in 1960. We were required to take classes like Beginning Economics. We studied capitalism but we sure did not learn a single thing about the destructive nature of world economic systems which had a veneer of caring for the people but actually were totally self-serving, uncaring and wretchedly evil.
Wow, I guess better-late-than-never to get started on finding out the truth of who, what, when and where.

The British Imperial Financial Model was a system of economic and financial control that extended beyond territorial conquest, embedding the British Empire in global financial networks through debt, currency, and institutional dominance.
Post-Colonial Continuity: After decolonization, Britain transitioned into a “Second Empire” built on offshore finance. The UK became a global hub for secrecy jurisdictions, with British territories hosting nearly half of the world’s offshore financial centers. This network facilitates tax evasion, capital flight, and financial opacity, enabling elite control over global capital flows.

PS: I’m no financial genius. I’m trying to understand this too.

I won’t be around to see it, but this speech should serve as a masterclass for politicians and students to study for 100 years. If there’s any fairness in life. There were a couple of times I thought he was going to go over the edge, but he didn’t. That was a man with a filet knife who was cleaning fish for over 90 minutes. Amazing.
