Good morning, ernn! We’ll have to get Stella to set up a tour which includes each spot.

Good mornin’, ernn! You better get some coffee while you’re hopefully just looking out the window at that 1*. It’s on all day.

Afternoon, Tex! I had to run errands today so I was inside and out all day. Very little wind today so the wind chill wasn’t much below zero degrees. I’m inside now so a hot cup of coffee is sounding real good. Thanks!

Good afternoon, Texan! If you go on tour first, be sure to take lots of photos and type up a report so we’ll know what to expect accommodations-wise. Maybe you can find a way to expense it.

Beautiful places to be right now.
Afternoon All. It is in the mid 40’s and sunny here. Seems weird to me at this time of year. I don’t see any cold weather in the forecast for weeks.
Hope you are all safe and warm.

Good afternoon, aus! We’re still snowless and rainless. The least snowy it’s been in the ten years I’ve lived in the Panhandle.
Take care!

Good morning everyone. Too cold for a campfire breakfast today, so we’re going full on county with biscuits and gravy, bacon and eggs. I’ll also want a side bowl of grits, please and thank you!

Wonderful! It’s 25* and the very strong wind makes it worse. I’ve got to go to work, so I’ll be running to and from the car each time!

Morning Wee, this is it! We’re in the last hundred hours of January’s last day! And we have snow. Temps in the teens, frozen every dang thing.
Dear God, we most humbly pray, remember us down here in the South, and pull that Arctic stuff back up to Minnesota and Canada. We grow cotton down here for cool, breezy clothes, remember? Iced tea on the porch in the evenings? Mint juleps, flowers blooming in February, first yard mowing by March 1, shirtsleeves weather? Remember, Lord, we ain’t made for ice!

Good mornin’, and happy Saturday! As Menage mentioned above, its a tad too chilly this morning to go outside. I found this beauty from 1931 that was used in the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in NYNY, back when it was safe to go there. Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee.

Ooh, what a beaut T! Thank you, and good morning! Biscuits are currently in the oven, ‘bout to cook the bacon, and I plan to fry up my eggs. Currently uncommitted on making gravy, but it’s awful hard for us southern gals to waste that bacon grease when God meant it for good gravy! On a cold, cold day? Yeah, odds are looking good for gravy!

Mama did not waste bacon grease. She poured into an orange juice can ( remember where they were metal cans) and save it on the back of the stove for next time.

Texan, your sterling silver coffee pot deserves a pure silver mug at only $778.32 each….
At the moment, silver per ounce is only $86.15. So either this mug is so heavy you’d have to use wrist strengtheners to pick it up or the design/designer is living in hope.

That’s mighty nice, but I would bet that Mrs. T would have my hide if I brought home an $80 coffee cup! 😉

Excerpt from C&C News by attorney Jeff Childers in his Substack column for today.
Yesterday, CBS News ran an encouraging story headlined, “Florida mandates driver’s license tests must be taken in English, eliminates other languages.” That was fast.
Starting February 6th, all driver’s license tests in the Sunshine State will only be administered in English, including commercial and non-commercial types. Coincidentally, my 16-year-old recently took his driver’s license test (in English). Afterward, he reported that it wasn’t hard.
But it’s probably somewhat harder if you don’t read English. Lo siento mucho! But this is a safety issue. If people can’t even read the test, how can they read the traffic signs?
This story is a great example of the overwhelming effect of the successful conservative counter-revolution. Just a few years ago, you can imagine how it would have made international news, drawing furious condemnations from activist groups, the United Nations, and people with unpronounceable names. Articles about Florida’s exam change would have been thick as ticks with claims of racism, xenophobia, and would have been packed to the gills with tragic interviews with the victims.
But with the frantic pace of events, there is no bandwidth to get outraged over a de facto language requirement to drive. And Florida made the change lightning-fast, without a long lead-up of public debate and hand-wringing.
The result was that CBS just reported it straight, more like a public service advisory than anything else. We’ve come a long way.
