Thank you, Lucille. The worst of it is over now and we’re slowly getting back to normal here. Getting some rest is most likely on the top of the list.

Good mornin’, Lucille! I’m to the point this month, where it might take some John Phillip Sousa music to get me through it! Coffee’s ready, ma’am.

Good morning, everyone! I survived the last week and a half with snow totals of approximately thirty-five inches, with frigid temperatures that had wind chill temps in the minus twenties. Neighbors all pitched in together to check on each other and help in clearing snow.
My body is now letting me know that it doesn’t like me throwing shoveled snow over four-foot drifts! We’re getting a heads up of another possible smaller Nor’easter this weekend. Still, my heart goes out to all our friends down South that have suffered far worse with the ice storms.

Going to be ridiculously cold for Carnival this year. 34-38 * during night parades this weekend, highs during the day only low 50’s and windy. I recall a couple of similar freezing parades, and will NOT be going for any beads and cups this year.

You know, I just saw on FOX a snow remover that is like a Rhumba. I don’t know if it would work in several feet of snow.

Good mornin’, and happy Wednesday! Looks like it’s been busy around here this morning. With all the crappy weather, I thought we might feel better if we saw something bright and shiny! Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee.

Heck I didn’t even know freezing fog was a thing until a month or two ago!

I think that was what was happening here off and on for a couple of weeks. It looked like dew that froze.

It is 33* and snowing lightly here this afternoon. I was at the Church and it started snowing and we got an inch or so there. My house is about 15 min away and it is much lighter, but supposed to continue for a while.

National Kazoo Day – silly musical instrument
National Blueberry Pancake Day – a fave for b’fast, lunch or dinner
National Gift of the Ladybug Day – The book The Gift of the Ladybug by Carole Mac follows the story of a family of horses who discover their child is a ladybug and will not live very long. The ladybug reassures the horses by saying, “I am a ladybug! I don’t know how to be a horse. I only know how to be a ladybug.” Every day, hundreds of families receive a diagnosis that puts their child’s life in danger. The ladybug serves as the perfect symbol of a child faced with a critical illness. Her life may be short, but she’s perfect just the way she is. The beautiful ladybug captures our imaginations and gives us a reason to celebrate.

National Pop Art Day – remember the art of the 60’s
Library Shelfie Day – Library Shelfies offer book stores, libraries, schools, and individuals an opportunity to express their reading preferences through a single photograph. Whether they frame their favorite authors, titles, genres or cover art, readers share a bit of their library in creative ways. With or without dust jackets, signed and unsigned, dogeared and in mint condition, bibliophiles love books of all kinds.

The ladybug story touches me. I have a granddaughter whose name is a play on ladybug. And as everyone here knows, autistic and special needs grandchildren.
With all my heart I say, I never came close to being able to conceptualize God until these children were gifted to us.

60% of Popular Children’s Candies Contain Dangerous Arsenic Levels
Florida testing found SweeTarts, Snickers, Skittles, Kit Kat, Nerds, Sour Patch Kids, Twizzlers, Jolly Ranchers, Trolli, and Tootsie Roll among the worst offenders.
By NICOLAS HULSCHER, MPH – JAN 27, 2026
Florida recently tested 46 popular candies heavily marketed to children. The results were sobering: 28 of the 46 products contained elevated levels of arsenic, a known human carcinogen associated with increased risks of skin, bladder, lung, kidney, and liver cancer with repeated exposure over time. These were state-conducted analyses released by the Florida Department of Health under the Healthy Florida First initiative.
Among the candies identified were many household names that routinely appear in lunchboxes, movie theaters, holiday bags, and Valentine’s Day treats: SweeTarts, Nerds, Sour Patch Kids, Skittles, Twizzlers, Jolly Ranchers, Trolli, Tootsie Roll, Snickers, and Kit Kat. These products are not occasional treats; they are designed, packaged, and marketed for frequent consumption.
