    Stellars…Happy Taco Tuesday!

Riga, capital of Latvia, on the Daugava River…

“Known for its impressive Art Nouveau architecture and beautifully preserved old town, Riga offers a unique blend of medieval history and early 20th-century elegance.”

And, yes, Riga does have restaurants serving tacos…the one serving these…

…is called Latvian Heroes and they make burritos, too, until late at night.

Good morning, everyone! It’s been a busy three days here. The snow is gone due to rain and above-freezing temperatures, which allowed me to repair storm damage on the main house and outbuildings safely. Mission accomplished before a possible nor’easter predicted for this weekend.

If you don’t like New England weather, just wait a minute—I’ll change!

Good mornin’, and happy Tuesday! While we’re having tacos, I felt like something shiny this morning. Closing in on our first year-end. Wonder what kind of clearance DJT has in mind. Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee.

I had not heard about this yet. Do we have a new arrow in our quiver? Sure does sound like it.

Okay, my tip of the day, I just saw on Facebook. Want to have better conversations with people? Ask questions that give them the chance to talk about themselves. Like what the heck is wrong with you?

    National Korean American Day

    National Sticker Day

National Stephen Foster Memorial Day – I know he’s on the outs with some lefty’s, but his music was beautiful and popular.

National Peach Melba Day – can’t say I’ve ever eaten it, but sounds good

Peach melba does sound good. I always liked Stephen Foster music. We used to have a Rottweiler who had a yellow rubber ducky that he carried around squeaking. He had I for about 2 years and never bit into it.

      Good evening, Czarina,

I vote for rubber duckies ’cause they’re the one, that makes bath time so much fun… for little ones.

Good day, Czarina! Plaster these rubber ducky stickers everywhere….

The house I rented in West Los Angeles for the 28 years before leaving California was next to a lovely Korean-American family (Mom, Dad, 2 sons). I watched their boys grow from newborns to teenagers. For Koreans who came to the USA from South Korea, family is everything. In North Korea families are torn apart every day. That’s how the communists conquer. Best the USA remembers that.

An idea for the next time you travel. Buy a bunch of new clothes to wear on the trip. At the end of your trip, take all the clothes to the laundromat, fluff everything up in a nice box, take it all to a church which aids the less fortunate and donate the box full of wearables and maybe even your luggage. That way you’re helping your fellow man and yourself by being able to merely walk off the plane and out to the taxis and be on your way home with nothing but a few essentials in your bag. Very liberating!

Before you arrive at your domicile, however, have the taxi drop you off at an establishment which serves peach melba, relax and unwind while partaking…

      ENJOY!

      From O’Keefe:

      Prior to our publication, Secret Service Deputy Director Matthew Quinn sent out a work force memo to all staff regarding our story which states;

“To the Men and Women of the Secret Service,

Over the past several months, an agency employee was deliberately targeted and manipulated by a citizen-journalism media organization that misrepresented itself in an effort to get close to the employee and expose sensitive information. This is the second time in less than a year that our personnel have been subjected to this same deceptive tactic.

Sadly in this instance, the employee failed to meet the standards demanded of this agency and engaged in conduct that runs counter to our values, our policies, and the training we provide to prevent exactly this type of compromise.

I recognize that situations like this can involve real personal pressures, and I do not dismiss the gravity of that. Still, I am disappointed in how this was handled and in the impact it will have on others. When one person falls short, it places an added burden on colleagues who are left to rebuild trust that each of us works hard every day to earn and protect.

The truth is, the overwhelming majority of you get this right. You show up with professionalism, humility, and a deep respect for the privacy of those we protect. You embody service over self, and you honor the discretion that our protectees deserve.

That discretion is not negotiable. Discretion and respect for privacy are fundamental to this work and to the trust placed in us. If someone cannot meet that expectation consistently, then this may not be the right type of profession for them. I would ask those individuals to take a moment to reevaluate why they are here and why we do this job. Our mission demands a higher standard, and we owe it to each other and to those we protect to uphold it.

To the overwhelming majority – the quiet professionals exceeding the standard everyday – thank you for your support, service and sacrifice.”

Deputy Director Matthew Quinn also provided the following statement to OMG directly:
“The U.S. Secret Service has no tolerance for any behavior that could potentially compromise the safety, privacy or trust of our protectees. This incident is under investigation and the employee involved has been placed on administrative leave with his clearance suspended and access to agency facilities and systems revoked. The U.S. Secret Service has also issued an order for all personnel to retake the agency’s required anti-espionage training in order to ensure employees are aware of the threats posed by individuals aiming to exploit agency employees for information about our protective operations.

The U.S. Secret Service has a 160-year-old tradition of discretion that sets this agency apart, and we have no tolerance for employees who fail to meet this standard. The U.S. Secret Service deeply apologizes to the Vance family for this violation of their trust and privacy. The faith our protectees place in this agency is not something the U.S. Secret Service takes lightly, and we are committed to taking the necessary actions to ensure that a similar breach of standards does not occur again.”

SMH! My gut reaction is: I don’t like Matthew Quinn’s manner or attitude. Blaming the reporter before blaming the hateful and irresponsible agent certainly doesn’t benefit the Secret Service. If the agent was that skillfully manipulated, can you imagine how easy it would have been to fall prey to the CCP’s plans to assassinate Vice President Vance, President Trump or one of their family members? How about screening your agents better, Mr. Quinn?

My daughter’s high school English teacher said that spelling isn’t important. I told her that she must ALWAYS look a word up if she doesn’t know how to spell it, because it is important in my house. Result:

Teachers can’t spell, but my daughter can!

Why Idaho’s Fight for Women’s Sports Matters

Idaho is standing up for our female athletes and defending fairness in women’s sports.

Today, I’m heading to the Supreme Court to watch in person as the Justices hear arguments on whether Idaho’s Title IX law banning men from women’s sports should stand.

The outcome of this case will shape the future of fair competition for young women and girls in Idaho and across the country.

That’s why I led an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of Idaho’s law, which was the first law in the country to ban biological men in women’s sports. I have also been the driving force behind efforts urging the Mountain West Conference to ban men from competing in women’s sports, demanding the NCAA protect female athletes in locker rooms, pressuring the International Olympic Committee to safeguard opportunities for female athletes on the Olympic stage, and much more.

My work is based on two fundamental truths:

      1. Women and girls deserve an even playing field.
      2. Biological men do not belong in women’s sports.

These facts are common sense, grounded in science, and reflect the views of the majority of Idahoans and Americans.

Title IX was created to expand opportunities for women. Any attempt by the courts to rewrite that law would erase decades of progress made by hardworking female athletes.

Life isn’t fair, but sports should be. Idaho’s law upholds that principle, and I am confident the Court will come to the same conclusion.
