Good mornin’, Lucille! I would love to take that horseback ride, but would probably end up helping make cookies! Coffee’s ready, ma’am.

Good afternoon, Texan! On occasion enjoying the little things have to be narrowed down to which is more doable.
Between my two nephews, they have five horses. Everyone is so busy making a living that the horses just stay in their paddocks 24/7 and no one has time to ride them anymore.

Morning Lucille! That gingerbread man looks like something my youngest grandson would do. We traditionally bake cookies for most holidays together, and he is the only one who ever loved to make real gingerbread men.
He’s 8 now. Coming over on the 19th for a day of Christmas fun. He likes to invent his own cookies and cakes to bake. We’ll see what he comes up with this time! I treasure these times because all too soon he’ll outgrow our fun, and I’ll see him less and less.

Morning Menage! Sounds like fun.

Morning Stella! Of all my grandchildren, he’s the one who has plunged into cookie making most enthusiastically. Also asks to make pies and cakes sometimes.

Good afternoon, Menagerie! A budding chef more likely will have time for his Grandma and test out his recipes on you as he grows older. Perhaps you can plant that thought and he’ll remember the fun and want to continue it along with all the more usual young male pursuits.
In the meantime, it’s grand to enjoy everything you do together…maybe even watching some male chefs on YouTube, PBS or cable.

Good mornin’, and happy Friday! Thought I would bring out the combo maker this morning, so we could expedite things since it’s getting close to Christmas. Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee.

Thanks T! Fine idea. Good morning sir. Did I mention that it’s going to be 19* Monday night? I need to look at temps down around Biloxi or somewhere, maybe take a 3 day trip! Except, oh yeah, I can’t. Stuck in the frozen tundra for days! I shall now commence with the true Southern method for handling cold weather. Bitching and whining!

Good mornin’, Menage! That’s a tad bit too cold for my bones! If you can’t get out, make sure you have plenty of coffee and something to put in it after breakfast! 😉

I have always said that. And, I have to admit I didn’t know how those people “up North” stayed warm until I moved up there and found out they put on warm clothes and a coat, hat, and gloves. Amazing!!

Good mornin’ Tex! I’m late for breakfast. Cold and windy here today. Neighbors tree went down so I got out my chainsaw to help out. I need lots of coffee to warm up and breakfast sure looks good!

Thanks, Texan…this combo never fails to satisfy and get the mouth watering for all the delectable edibles and drinkables it will provide.
Some simple mugs to further the enjoyment….

I heard about this guy yesterday. What kind of town elects some guy with this kind of record? I’ll bet it’s a real smooth running place.

National Ding-a-Ling Day – Ding-a-Lings on this day call the people they haven’t heard from in a while. It may be an old classmate, co-worker, or neighbor from years ago. Or perhaps a call will go out to the child who used to mow the grass during the summer. How about that couple who carpooled for soccer? What was their name? Many people slip out of our lives who would love to hear the ding-a-ling of a call from you. Why don’t you join the Ding-a-ling club and call someone this year?
National Poinsettia Day -The poinsettia initially came to the United States with Joel Roberts Poinsett, an American botanist and the first U.S. Minister to Mexico. In 1825, he sent cuttings home to Charleston, South Carolina.
However, it wasn’t until the early 1920s that the poinsettia started taking root in American culture. Paul Ecke, a second-generation farmer in California, discovered a grafting technique that caused the seedlings to branch. Hawking their Christmas flower at roadside stands, Paul Ecke Jr. later advanced sales of the poinsettia through shipping and marketing.

Boy, I wish I’d have known about that when the kids were little. We did exactly that, made gingerbread houses out of graham crackers. It was hit or miss!

Morning czarina! The only gingerbread houses that have worked for me are the ones in the kits. The kids like them just as well, and I end up giving them to the squirrels for their New Year’s present.

Good morning, Czarina! I put a poinsettia on top of my fridge every December that you can see when you come in the door. Brings in the holiday season.

Good day, Czarina! If I were going shopping today for poinsettias….
…I’d definitely smile at the salespeople and give them cheery greetings.
If I knew them personally, I’d even invite them over for an ambrosia party…

I love ambrosia. When we had potlucks in the South, someone always brought a big bowl of ambrosia.

We never had ambrosia (at least my family didn’t), but we did have Waldorf Salad, which is along similar lines.

Afternoon All. I had trouble finding Stella’s today. I don’t know what the problem was. It is around 40* today, so no snow, but pretty overcast.
Evidently there was an accident in front of our house last night. I found a paper from the cop on the bench outside my door when I was getting ready to go to bed. I didn’t realize there had been an accident. I wear earphones when I watch TV. This morning my mail was on the bench and the 4 mailboxes were scattered all over the yard. Yea!! Now maybe we will get a new set. Even the mailman had requested the owner replace the boxes a few years ago, they are so old and rusty and he never did. I don’t think he can fix these.
Hope you all can stay warm.

Good afternoon, Aus! It sounds like you’ll have a new mailbox in the near future!

I sure hope so. I think these were 50 years old and banged up. The doors flop open and the mail gets wet and sometimes just falls out.

LOL. Just thought I would share the update from the rental company about the mailboxes.
“We have been notified that the mailbox complex has been damaged. A vendor will come and repair it tomorrow. Please inquire with the post office to confirm that your mail is being held until the mailboxes are fixed.
Kind Regards, “
I sure hope they put up new one instead of trying to “repair” them.

If the boxes aren’t really repairable, shame on management for not replacing them.

Good day, aus! While hoping no one was injured in the accident, it certainly was a fortuitous one that got rid of mangy mail boxes.
Since the IRS gives lots of tax breaks to income property owners, there is absolutely no excuse for owners to refuse to maintain everything in decent and proper working order. Such properties are cash cows if they are managed correctly.
Take care!
