National Spicy Hermit Cookie Day – Hermit cookies originated in the New England area. In 1880, the young ladies of the Trinity Church, Plattsburgh, New York published the cookbook Champlain Valley Book of Recipes with a Hermits recipe. This local cookbook was a 3rd edition suggesting its first printing was a year or two earlier. Soft and chewy, these cookies sure put a smile on the face of all who taste them.

You don’t have to use raisins, just substitute another dried fruit you like that would blend well with the spices.

Afternoon All. Raining still, just lightly, so no flooding, etc. It is overcast right now with the sun trying to come out.
I am getting ready to go to a wedding this afternoon. My sinus condition, or whatever it was, is much better, almost gone. I just remembered last night that my grandson is supposed to be the ring bearer. Can’t wait to see how that works out. He is used to walking up to the front with his sisters for the children’s sermon so he may be fine. We’ll see. I have been looking forward to this wedding for a while. It is a nice young couple who both seem very mature.
