Many years ago, when my husband was a child, his father used to tell him that sales tax was the most fair tax. Back then, people spent according to their wealth. I’m not sure about that now, as people in subsidized housing and on food stamps seem to always have the latest iPhone, and lately I see a number of import model cars in the hood. Not to mention gold, shoes, etc.
I’d be okay with less or no income tax, as long as these people weren’t cut a ridiculous break for being no income. If you have it to spend on stuff like that, then pay taxes on it.
