Why You Should Put A Penny In Flower Water For Longer-Lasting Blooms
Turns out this old wives’ tale really works!

Good mornin’, Lucille! That is my new thing I learned today. I will be sharing with Mrs. T so we can keep them going for a few more days. Coffee’s ready, ma’am.

Good day, Texan! Perhaps copper vases would also help in flower preservation. Wonder if Vincent Van Gogh knew….

Gonna save up some pennies for this.

I checked my coin purse and not a single penny in there was minted before 1982. Maybe the secret is out about the old ones helping to preserve cut flowers.

Hm. Guess I need to check mine. I only have a few, I think.

Good mornin’, and happy Monday! After a big day for space yesterday, we slide right into that celebration from the south of us today! You’ll probably see more margarita glasses than coffee cups, but we gotta start here first. Keep your head on a swivel and carpe’ your coffee!

Good mornin’, Miss Wee! This could probably be my Pop. We have to watch him when he gets his hands on the pepper shaker as he forgets how easily he gets lit up! 😉

My father loved the hot stuff. When we were in Mexico, he took a big scoop of hot salsa and his face turned bright red and you could almost see the steam coming out his ears and he gasped for air. When he recovered, he took another scoop. LOL

Happy cinco de Mayo, Wee! I’m making a sorta Mexican dish for dinner: Chorizo, corn and shishito pepper fried rice. Mexican/Chinese, I guess.

Oh, my goodness, forgot all about it being Cinco de Mayo. We always celebrated it when I was in grammar school because there was a large Mexican-American population in our county. Local stores sold peasant clothes for our wearing during the Mexican Hat Dance (this video pretty much shows the expertise we also exhibited)…
…which we performed at the high school football stadium. We all got a fun bus ride over to the stadium and got to show off our talents for the local populace. I don’t recall whether we knew it celebrated Mexico’s victory over France, though.

Some of the circumstances surrounding the theft of millions in covid funds has some lighter moments. Take for instance, the lady who was delivering the bribe money to a juror decided to skim some of that money for herself. She was to deliver $200K to a juror, but only delivered $120K as she kept $80K for herself. There’s even more, but I thought this was actually funny. When is gov’t. just going to clean out these entire dens of thieves?

An interesting thought piece. How many of us have/are going paperless with all of our financial matters? What process do you have in place upon your passing?

All paper, here. Along with passwords to shut down any social media accounts I might frequent.

I have gone pretty much paperless (convenience). I have a will that goes into effect upon my passing. My daughter is cosigner on my bank accounts and the beneficiary of my 401K account. I still have a checking account, but I rarely
use itwrite checks, and I don’t use much cash either.LikeLiked by 3 people
This reminds me that I have to make a list of auto pay accounts for my daughter so that she can stop them. She already has a list of my accounts with passwords.

Morning czarina! A Hoagie sounds really good, but I guess I’ll stick with chips and salsa to observe Cinco de Mayo.

I was also just reminded (on YouTube) that today is VE day (Victory in Europe). Still commemorated in the UK, as the end of WWII.

Good day, Czarina! I’m totally game for Mexican food of either the Mexico or the U.S. variety. I’ll start off with tamales…
Melanoma awareness was something I never thought of until the discovery of multiple skin cancers last year. Tomorrow I’m back at the doctor’s for my six-month skin cancer body check. I’m getting pretty much tired of the whole thing.
Seems to me that just about everybody talks about their mental problems today except the real psychopathic and sociopathic violent ones. The Internet is overflowing with it. So I’m not real sure millions of people are living in shame anymore. Living in misinformation perhaps.
Cartoonists’ Day I’ll celebrate with Snoopy….
…and his maker….

Ed Martin is currently the Acting US Attorney for the District of Columbia. President Trump recently announced he nominated Ed for a permanent position as one of the country’s top cops.

Good grief! The NYC Mayor is even more off his rocker than was thought….
NYC: Mayor announces that mosques don’t need permits, can blast call to prayer over loudspeakers at will
MAY 4, 2025 5:00 PM BY ROBERT SPENCER
The adhan, the Islamic call to prayer, prayed in Arabic, repeats “Allahu akbar” six times, “I testify that there is no god but Allah” three times, and “I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s prophet” twice. “Allahu akbar” means “Allah is greater,” that is, greater than your God.
