Out my kitchen window, between my apartment and the fence dividing our property from the house on the next street north, is a blanket of darling little golden yellow dandelions. They make me smile every time I open the blinds.
Dandelion

There’s a dandy little fellow,
Who dresses all in yellow,
In yellow with an overcoat of green;
With his hair all crisp and curly,
In the springtime bright and early
A-tripping o’er the meadow he is seen.
Through all the bright June weather,
Like a jolly little tramp,
He wanders o’er the hillside, down the road;
Around his yellow feather,
Thy gypsy fireflies camp;
His companions are the wood lark and the toad.
But at last this little fellow
Doffs his dainty coat of yellow,
And very feebly totters o’er the green;
For he very old is growing
And with hair all white and flowing,
A-nodding in the sunlight he is seen.
Oh, poor dandy, once so spandy,
Golden dancer on the lea!
Older growing, white hair flowing,
Poor little baldhead dandy now is he!

Texan, as this maker shows, coffee is a serious business. For a little bit of festivity frivolity, let’s bring in some cups which show we are (or have been) just a bunch of lighthearted work slaves…

Loved Baby Ruths when I was a kid…
…and also loved George Herman “Babe” Ruth but adored Heinrich Ludwig “Lou” Gehrig…both of whom were German-Americans…as was my maternal grandfather….

Good day, Czarina! National Devil Dog Day should have to do with the US Marines, since that’s one of their nicknames.
Soooo, I thought I’d look up the story which I’ve heard ever since my pre-teens. Wow, disillusioning! It’s a fake story created by some WWI war correspondent, or so is thought.

Hi, Stella! It’s a beautiful spring day in the Idaho Panhandle. 66 degrees and sunny. An ideal day to be out in a sailboat on one of the lakes in the vicinity….
This is Lake Coeur d’Alene which takes about 1.5 hours to drive the 30+ miles around it.
