Celebrity Chef Andrew Gruel Explains Where America’s Food Actually Comes From

Food and government regulation seem to be a theme this week.

If you aren’t familiar with him, Andrew Gruel owns several restaurants in California, and has been on television numerous times on shows such as Food Truck Face Off on Food Network.  I got to know him on X (formerly Twitter).

I learned a lot from this video about food in the USA, particularly about fish, and how regulation is harming food producers and consumers alike.

I think this is my favorite video. I learned so much. And, one important thing was about salmon. That is my favorite fish and what I would usually order, if I ever went out to eat and could afford it. Good to know I wasn’t doing the wrong thing. Salmon, halibut, and catfish are just aboutt the only fish I eat. Oh, I do eat canned tuna.

I do like shrimp. Especially fried shrimp. But, I pass on the clams, which is probably good since it has made me sick twice. I don’t think I am allergic to it, but both times it made me sick as soon as I ate it. I had the same problem years ago with crab.

He focuses on where he lives and shops. On the Gulf Coast we have abundant local fish, shellfish and is is available in stores and side of the road trucks.

Recently Louisiana passed a law requiring foreign to be labeled or pay fines.
