National Living Donor Day – redundant with the next onen

National Donate Life Blue and Green Day – Organ donation takes many forms, and there are teams of people involved to make donations happen. From family members supporting both donors and recipients to a broad network of advocates and medical professionals and specialists, a single donation requires a coordinated effort. According to Unos, one donor can save 8 lives, and every 10 minutes someone is added to the donor list.

National Submarine Day – Toured one docked in NO. Much too cozy.

National Day of Silence – this is about harassment of LGBTQ people

National Cheese Fondue Day – does anybody still make fondue?

National Eight Track Tape Day – had forgotten about these

National Pet Day – aren’t we all in for this?!?!

National Barbershop Quartet Day – dulcet tones

These are all winners today. Of course, I especially like pets. I got to go out on a family cruise on a diesel sub, which is really tight and later on went on a cruise on a nuclear sub, which is considerably larger.

Good day, Czarina! YES to pets of all kinds…

…and to barbershop quartets…love when guys sing all the parts themselves or with one other person. Spencer of SB Mowing is a pal of Tim Waurick’s and they sing together occasionally.

SB Mowing is one of my favorite YouTube channels…and Spencer has 2.73M subscribers to his mowing channel, 523K for his pressure washing channel and for his SB Mowing #shorts, 4.8M. All those people around the world watching a channel where a guy works hard, is conscientious and kind. Amazing!

Good day to you, aus! It’s cloudy then sunny and vice versa here today.

I’m still reeling from yesterday’s scamming calls. Since my bank denies talking to me, I searched online for info as to whether or not a scammer can both use the name and the phone number of a business and it shows up on the call register as being a known entity to the victim. Apparently that’s possible.

So, for all those who may run into such a happening, here’s a good article from Experian….

What to Do When a Scammer Calls

by Evelyn Waugh – posted December 12, 2021

      https://www.experian.com/blogs/ask-experian/what-to-do-when-scammer-calls/

I’m trying to remember whether if during my upset at the revelations of the supposed ID theft I inadvertently gave out sensitive information to the scammers thinking they were my bank. I don’t think so. I took lots of notes during my many conversations but realize they are nowhere adequate to the occasion. I can only hope and pray that nothing horrible will happen in reality.

Can’t let your guard down for a second in this world.

I am so sorry this happened to you because now you will keep worrying about it. And, it is really hard to keep up with the scammers. I have Lifelock and that gives me some peace.

One trick I remember finding out years ago was someone calling you and saying are you Lucille? And, of course, you say “yes” which they record and use to answer some other question they want the yes answer for. So, you have to say something like “speaking” instead of “yes”. That is hard to remember, but I have practiced that and responding with “who are you”?

I have gotten a lot of calls about my Medicare card and I just hang up on them if I mistakenly answer. But, now I don’t answer calls from an 863 area code, where I used to live in Florida, unless I know who it is for sure. That is where all these calls are coming from.

It is good to be reminded about the scammers.

          I say, “This is she.”

I also have this system on my landline phone – V-Tech Smart Call Blocker. Their description:

Automated nuisance calls to your landline phone are automatically blocked from ever ringing through—even the first time. That means fewer interruptions from automated telemarketers, and less worry about scam calls. You can also permanently blacklist up to 1,000 phone numbers. Or, save friends’ and family members phone numbers to ensure their calls are always allowed through.

Works great. If a caller isn’t on the allowed list they have the option to announce who they are and I have the option to talk to them – or not. Most calls never ring through.

I just don’t answer my cell calls unless I know who it is. If they leave a message and it is a legitimate call, then I call them back.

I made banana nut pancakes for breakfast. I had a banana that needed to be used or thrown out. A while back somebody here, probably Stella, said to wait until the banana was black to use it because the sugar is highest in it then. So, that is what I have been doing and the flavor of the pancakes is so much better.

Oh, and the last tenants here left a big griddle and an Oster Hive blender in one of the cabinets. The griddle works so great and I can cook almost all the pancakes at once on it. Then I put the extras in the freezer and pop them into the toaster when I want one. It’s a great system.
