King David’s Hostage NegotiationsPurim and the Bible’s modern-day message for Israel after Oct 7.

March 14, 2025 by Daniel Greenfield

Haman, the Purim story’s central villain, the Persian Empire’s grand vizier, descended from the Amalekite peoples, has traditionally served as a stand-in for contemporary villains like Hitler, Stalin (Russian Jews celebrate a Stalin’s Purim marking the Communist tyrant’s death before he could execute his own holocaust in the USSR) as well as Hamas and other Islamic Jihadists.

But the events of Purim taking place some 2,300 years ago are also intimately linked to the exodus from Egypt, 3,300 years ago, and the establishment of the first Jewish monarchy several hundred years later under King Saul followed by King David and his dynasty.

And the very different styles of the two rulers.

Did y’all hear about the track meet in VA where one girl beat another over the head with her baton during a relay race. Well, now the perpetrator is claiming to be the victim. The schools are doing anything yet, but the law is! This was incredible and there is a video embedded in the article.

Shoe the World Day – There are a few who are fortunate enough to have one pair of shoes even though they are much too big for them. This way, their shoes will last for many years as they grow, and they are only allowed to be worn for special occasions. In other cases, they may have one pair of shoes that are too small and tight for them (they will make them work) but to have a pair at all is a luxury.

After all the worry there were tornadoes several miles to our north and west, but the worst is passing over now as moderate rain storms with wind.

Good day, Czarina! Most Americans, myself included, take shoes for granted. Here’s a famous 1946 photo of a child in an Austrian orphanage who took nothing for granted….

As for “Everything You Know is Wrong Day”…how perfect for the age of the Internet and social media where untruths are rampant. It’s a strange thing to have a day for, however.

I could definitely go for some “pears Helene”, though…

In the depths of depression, dust bowl Oklahoma my mother grew up with one pair of shoes, passed down, which she wore to school and church. Never for everyday.

In 1934, at 17, my father signed up for the Navy. They sent him away and said he had to have a tooth filled, and come back with a toothbrush and a pair of shoes, which he didn’t have. And, he had no money to buy any. One guy felt sorry for him and scrounged a pair of shoes and a toothbrush for him and the Navy put in a temporary filling, which he had until he died. He said the reason he was going into the Navy was because he had no money and couldnt get a job.

Did ya’z know that Canadia has deep ties to the Wuhan Institute and was sending viruses back and forth before the corona? I have a feeling this is a very deep rabbit hole…….There are numerous articles about the same info from the CBC, their equivalent to the BBC.
