Thanks T! Good morning. I just watched a video on X where a dad was fixing his little daughter toast. He used a drywall trowel to spread the Nutella. I’m saying smart moms could learn a lot about increasing efficiency in meal prep from these dads!

This is a Texas staple and my MIL used to make it on a regular basis. Usually half with and half without pecans. I love pecans, but not in cakes or cookies.

How terrible! I do hope as much as possible that the media will leave the dead with a little more dignity intact. The narrator almost seemed breathless at being able to deliver such ugly details, though she did give us warning.

How sad! We’re losing so many people we’ve admired. Every Friday I watch a YouTube channel called legacy.com which recaps the lives of famous folks who have died during the week. A short bio of Gene Hackman will be there for sure tomorrow. I was thinking of him the other day and looked up recent photos of him. He looked frail and not particularly well.
I met him very casually one day in the 1980s when I was working in the Century City area of West L. A. (so named because it had once been the back lot of 20th Century Fox but was at the time a business park with many film industry-related companies occupying the tall buildings).
My boss asked me to go grocery shopping for a party our office was having at the lunch hour. Since he’d ordered pizzas delivered, I was tasked with buying the wines, various chocolates, candies, doughnuts, and other desserts.
Standing at check-out in the local Ralphs I heard this voice behind me saying something like, “That all looks like a lethal combination.” I turned and Gene smiled at me, eyebrows raised in a questioning manner (can’t you just visualize him doing that). Of course I smiled back and said it was for an office party, then asked if he’d like to attend. He chuckled and said he had to get back to work. I told him to have a good day.
Such serendipitous encounters like that make for happy memories in sorrowful times.

Mornin All. It is in the low 30’s here right now and the sun is out. Beautiful day. I can’t believe how warm it feels after the past few weeks that were near 0* and in the teens most of the time. In a few days we will be in the high 40’s. Looking forward to it.
