The price of eggs

I love eggs. Eggs are a perfect protein source and, until recently, very affordable.

The price of eggs has been a point of contention in the past election season, and in this current political season.

Inflation, of course, has played a part, but there is another reason for the rise in egg prices.

As press secretary Leavitt said the other day, the Biden administration and the U.S. Agriculture Department directed the mass killing of more than 100 million chickens, which has led to a lack of chicken supply in this country, therefore a lack of egg supply, which is leading to the shortage. This was in answer to a reporter who insinuated that the Trump administration should have already lowered egg prices, even though they have been in office less than three weeks!

“I would like to point out to each and every one of you, that in 2024, when Joe Biden was in the Oval Office or upstairs in the residence sleeping, I’m not so sure, egg prices increased 65% in this country,” Leavitt said, noting that the costs of bacon, groceries and gasoline have increased because of the “inflationary” policies of the Biden administration.

“As far as the egg shortage, what’s also contributing to that is that the Biden administration and the Department of Agriculture directed the mass killing of more than 100 million chickens, which has led to a lack of chicken supply in this country, therefore, a lack of egg supply, which is leading to the shortage. So, I will leave you with this point: This is an example of why it’s so incredibly important that the Senate moves swiftly to confirm all of President Trump’s nominees, including his nominee for the United States Department of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, who is already speaking with Kevin Hassett, who’s leading the economic team here at the White House, on how we can address the egg shortage in this country.”

I have read that chicken farms have had all of their birds killed even though they didn’t have cases of bird flu in their flocks.

Unnecessary killing of the chickens along with burning down large egg supply houses was all a part of a plan to diminish the food supply, IMO. The people who set all this in motion should be the ones to go hungry.

Sometimes large chicken houses burn down because of poor maintenance. The ventilations systems have to be kept clean and unobstructed to help avoid fires. Sometimes they are not. And that’s just one issue with large-scale chicken operations.

Can’t wait until DOGE gets into HHS and Ag to see where the money has been flowing in those cesspools.
