2 Dead, Dozens Sick in Tuberculosis Outbreak in Kansas City Area

I wrote about this particular threat to U.S. citizens caused by illegal immigration way back in 2016. At that time, Minnesota was seeing an outbreak of tuberculosis:

“I can confirm that one hospital worker at Mercy Hospital and one hospital worker at Abbott Northwestern Hospital were diagnosed with active TB,” Allina Health Vice President of Marketing and Communications David Kanihan revealed to Breitbart News. Both hospitals are located in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and are owned by Allina Health, confirming the diagnosis active tuberculosis (TB).

The Minnesota Department of Health reported that in 2014, 73% of the 147 active cases of TB in Minnesota were foreign born. Around one in five resettled Somali Muslims in Minnesota test positive for TB.

“In late May, Allina Health began notifying 141 people who had been patients at either Abbott Northwestern Hospital or Mercy Hospital earlier this year that they may have been exposed to tuberculosis (TB). At each location, we learned that a worker who helped deliver care had TB. We carefully and thoroughly reviewed records to identify patients who had been closely enough in contact with these workers to have a potential exposure to TB … “

Here is a report of an outbreak in California in 2024:

Now we have an outbreak in Kansas City:

Health officials in the Kansas City area are warning of a recent outbreak of tuberculosis (TB) cases, prompting an effort from state and local health agencies to stop the spread, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE).

The outbreak has killed two people since it started in January 2024, KDHE spokeswoman Jill Bronaugh said. Health officials in Kansas say there is no threat to the general public.

The outbreak has primarily affected Wyandotte County, with a total of 67 active cases reported as of Jan. 24. According to KDHE, 60 of these cases are in Wyandotte County, while the remaining seven are in neighboring Johnson County.

In addition to the active cases, health officials have identified 79 latent TB infections associated with the outbreak, which means such individuals have an inactive infection. A large majority of the latent infections, 77, are in Wyandotte County, with only two reported in Johnson County.

The KDHE, working with local health departments, is following guidelines set forth by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to manage the outbreak. These efforts include identifying and testing close contacts of infected individuals and providing treatment to those who test positive.

The obvious question is: Why aren’t refugees being screened for contagious diseases BEFORE they are allowed into the general population? Probably because a large percentage are coming into our country illegally and, therefore, bypass disease screening. As the Minnesota Department of Health stated back in 2016:

“Tuberculosis (TB) has surpassed HIV as the leading cause of death from infectious disease worldwide.”

Tuberculosis is airborne and can be spread when a person active tuberculosis coughs, sneezes, or otherwise transmits the infection to a previously uninfected individual.

Treatment for tuberculosis is long and expensive. If caught early, it typically takes about nine months for a person with active tuberculosis to improve to latent tuberculosis. Not everyone diagnosed with active tuberculosis, however, improves. Mortality rates for those with active tuberculosis are much higher than health professionals would like, even in the United States.

This is what has been allowed into our country, and I am sure this isn’t the only communicable disease that we will be dealing with because of illegal immigration. If we are to get control of infectious disease in our country, if MAHA can succeed, we need to get control of immigration, legal and illegal.

If you would like to learn more about the history of tuberculosis, this PBS American Experience documentary is frightening and informative:

It is no long available for free on YouTube, but can be rented or purchased. It also can be rented from Amazon Prime.

Here is the first installment:

TB killed a HUGE portion of our population in the 1800’s and about half of the 1900’s. My grandmother’s sister, Sarah, died of consumption at the age of 34 in 1897.

This is not unexpected. Who knows what all we have been exposed to. I remember back when I first heard about that worm that gets in your head. It is. brought in from Mexico, I believe, and they denied it existed. But, at the same time, they were setting up clinics in California to treat it. They have. been lying to us for so long as they expose us to who knows what.

TB is pretty nasty! Especially now, with antibacterial resistant strains. Too many people would stop taking their meds because they were feeling better, instead of for the fully prescribed period. TB is why so many places had laws against things like spitting on sidewalks.

It’s also always been around. There have been fossils of fish and even dinosaurs with TB damage.

It used to be that no one was allowed into the country if they were ill. My aunt and her family were not allowed to immigrate to Canada because my aunt was ill. My mother doesn’t remember what she was sick with anymore, but she sent medication back to Poland for her sister until she recovered and the family was finally allowed to come to Canada.

These health restrictions were dropped in Canada for legal immigrants, long ago. It blows my mind that people with infectious diseased are allowed in.

Are they even allowed to quarantine people in cases like this anymore? They used to. I can’t believe this video is 14 years old. I remember when it was new! But this guy came back from international travels and discovered he caught TB and had a hole the size of a quarter in his lung. He was quarantined for treatment. Bored out of his skull, friends gave him an electronic keyboard and a camera, and he started making music and videos. This song is the one that got him on the news. (Hoping the link works)

When most of our immigrants came in by boat, they were kept on an island until they were considered healthy. The sick were sent back where they came from. I would hope that the USA will be screening immigrants for disease in the future.
