Good morning! Here’s one for the books.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Monday used the “Gulf of America” in an Executive Order following President Donald Trump’s swearing in and subsequent speech, in which he reiterated his intention to rename the Gulf of Mexico.

DeSantis issued the executive order on Monday, EO number 25-13 on the weather system coming into the state. In the first sentence, DeSantis’s executive order uses the name “Gulf of America.”

I was watching Fox on YouTube last night. Apparently they have done away with an entire department of 7,000. “Senior Executive Agency”. Watch (just after the 6:00 mark):

The whole video is fun to watch!

I finally decided to cut the cord because I watched mostly FOX NEwS like Fox and Friends, the Five, and Jesse Waters. I looked it up and found that it was finally available to stream. But, then, after I cancelled Spectrum, I discovered that I had no way, and could find no way, to record Fox and Friends and it comes on too early to watch. Then just before the Inauguration, they announced that FOX wasn’t supported by whatever was showing it. I haven’t figured a way to get it without paying a mint for it.

This is why I didn’t do this a long time ago. I knew I would run into problems finding what I wanted to see. But, there was almost nothing on Spectrum that I was interested in. So, whenever you find something. please share.

By the way, you said you found it on YouTube, but is that the one you have to pay $49 a month for?

        • Stella's avatar Stella says:

No, that’s free YouTube. I don’t pay for it. Search for Fox News and Fox Business on YouTube. The videos are available later, and it isn’t full coverage as when you have a subscription to Fox, but it’s there. Also, there is Live Now from Fox.

After I stopped cable, I had a subscription to Sling, which includes many “cable only” channels. You might want to check into that.

I will. At the rate I am going, I am going to be back up to what I was paying for at spectrum because I only find one or two shows on each channel I have to pay for. Maybe Sling will help.

Library Shelfie Day – Library Shelfies offer book stores, libraries, schools, and individuals an opportunity to express their reading preferences through a single photograph. Whether they frame their favorite authors, titles, genres or cover art, readers share a bit of their library in creative ways. With or without dust jackets, signed and unsigned, dogeared and in mint condition, bibliophiles love books of all kinds.

National Polka Dot Day – love them. Had a blue shirt with white dots, and a white dress with red dots.

Remember dotted Swiss fabric? I had lots of dresses made of that when I was in school. Back when all the girls wore dresses every day. I was very happy when blue jeans became the school outfit of choice, and I never changed.

I lament the loss of style, and the fact that people believe their trash clothes are appropriate for all occasions, but I don’t like to dress up frequently. One of my sisters in law, on her first trip into the Home Depot where I worked, was appalled when she saw our managers in jeans. Managers were expected to work, and the employees would have hated any preppie dressed manager. I fit in there!

I really miss dressing up for the office. The quality of clothing, in general, has degraded significantly over the past few decades. Now clothes are throw aways rather than keepers. I had some really beautiful blouses with lovely details, like buttoned cuffs and piping along collar or cuff edges, and good quality wool skirts and trousers that I had for years. I remember particularly two of my favorite full summer skirts. One had large black and white checks that I wore with a white blouse and red tie. The other was also large checks, but in subtle beige and muted green. Both were made of lovely cotton fabrics.

I gave my youngest granddaughter a pink dress for Christmas that had polka dots. The dots were actually a little fuzzy and the material was slightly sheer. She just loves it.

My favorite was an almost polka dot, does that count? It was a deep, true red, with a tiny little black patterns on it, almost looked like polka dots. It was a silk dress, fitted to the waist, with a black belt, and a skirt in small pleats, to just below the knee.

My husband picked it out for me, in one of his very, very few shopping trips with me. I didn’t even give it a second look as I browsed, secretly didn’t want to try it on when he asked me to, and I looked phenomenal in it. It absolutely floored me that my mind was programmed to “not see” a style that really suited me.

Anyhow, it’s my favorite dress ever, and I’ve learned over the years that my husband is a dead eye when it comes to clothes choices and colors for me.

I bought my mother an orange dress with cap sleeves, an interesting rounded neckline, fitted bodice that flared out into a full skirt. She always wore dark plain clothes. She wore it anyway, and when the President of the college where she worked said “Hi” one morning as he passed her office, then backed up to tell her how pretty she looked, I guess it changed her way of thinking and from then on she wore bright colors, which were very flattering with her white hair.

According to The Washington Free Beacon, which obtained a copy of the State Department order signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. embassies will be required to enforce a “one flag” policy worldwide.

Ohio AG joins three other states in lawsuit to keep certain immigrants out of census counts

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has joined Ohio with three other states in a federal lawsuit seeking to keep certain immigrants from being counted in the U.S. Census including those in the country illegally and those with temporary visas.

The case was filed in U.S. District Court on Jan. 17 and also includes the attorneys general from Louisiana, West Virginia and Kansas.

Yost and the other state legal chiefs – filing the action against the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Census Bureau (an agency within the Commerce department) – say a residence rule that allows foreign nationals living in the U.S. to be counted in the decennial census resulted in 2020 Census figures that “included illegal aliens and aliens holding temporary visas” to determine apportionment for U.S. House districts and Electoral College representatives.

    Afternoon All,

Remember Trump-speed? Those who worked for him may have coined that phrase. That may well be in his favor to dislodge the diversionary tactics.

Czarina, how appropriate National Sanctity of Human Life Day is today.

I remember the photo of a small child left behind at waters edge, its small body floating in the water’s edge, discarded in an illegal rush into the U.S.

It was the graphic illustration of the evil of illegal immigration. Lives lost, lives ruined, lives lived in fear. It’s not the promise of America, it is its betrayal.

    Glad to see it end.
