Good mornin’, Texan! One item they don’t often put into factoid vids is that James Stewart was suffering from PTSD quite severely during the making of this film resulting from his harrowing World War II experiences as a B-24 bomber pilot. If you look at his photos from the first days he was stationed in England versus when he was discharged, he had aged 20 years.

He did look really stressed. I imagine a lot of it was real. It used to bother me because I felt so bad for him. If I had known, I would have felt worse.

A number of people who have written about Stewart believe that he was able to channel a lot of that distress he was feeling in real life onto the screen as he was acting out the script.
Of course there were no organizations like K-9s For Warriors or Wounded Warriors to help WW2 veterans with PTSD. Most vets never talked about it to civilians, not even close family.
In some ways, that’s still true with today’s vets. My neighbor in LA had a grandson who was in the USMC in Iraq. She asked him what the war was like and he responded that one person in the family knowing what the war was like is enough.

Alfalfa had a very memorable face which really didn’t change much from how he looked as a child. He was my favorite from THE LITTLE RASCALS when I was in grammar school.

Mornin’ All. Got up early this morning. Woke up at 4:30 and couldn’t go back to sleep. I have a lot to do today. I need to pick up something at Lowes, and they open at 6:00, but I realized it doesn’t get daylight until almost 8:00. And, I need to drop off the Spectrum box, but they don’t open until 10:00. So the trip will wait until then. I am only about 5 minutes away, but I don’t want to make two trips anyway. Still got lots of packing to do.
It snowed again, an inch or so and the weather guessers say it will continue for a week. I guess it is because it is winter.

As for drinking straws, my family always buys a bunch of boxes when they are visiting since their province in Canada (and maybe the whole country?) outlawed their sale. So far they haven’t been confiscated at the border.
