    Happy New Year, y’all! Since we’re starting a new year and turning over a new leaf, I wanted to start our coffee out on a high note! This beauty is fit for a POTUS at over $23K. A Mavam Mach Two! Keep your head on a swivel and Carpe’ your coffee! Happy 2025!

    Gorgeous day. Had a friend from across the state and my brother over for dinner. Bought three fireworks to set off in the back yard. Neighbor had some noisy ones across the lake, but ours were sparkly. Delightful. Doused with lots of water afterwards. Watched old movies on the TV. Stayed up till 12 New York time, then went to sleep.

    Looking forward to a great new year.

    New Year’s Day

    National Hangover Day – in NO there is a restaurant where an old woman makes her hangover cure specialty all year round. It is called Yaka Mein. Broth soup with ramen noodles, a boiled or fried egg, some meat and green onion are the base. Can’t attest to it as a remedy, but I make it often as a lunch or light dinner.

    National Bloody Mary Day – Czar’s preferred cocktail

    NO high traffic tourist French Quarter had a truck drive into the crowd (what it was at 3 a.m.) on Bourbon Street off Canal Street. TV shows 10 dead and 30 injured . Also reports of gunshots and shell casings (but some people here shoot off guns at midnight like those idiots in Arab countries and damn where the bullets land).

    Listeria Fears Prompt Advisory on Broccoli Sold in Walmart Stores in 20 States

    California-based Braga Fresh issued a precautionary advisory asking people to avoid consuming broccoli potentially contaminated by listeria bacteria.

    The advisory is applicable to a single lot of ready-to-eat, 12-ounce Marketside Broccoli Florets with a “best if used by” date of Dec. 10, 2024, said a Dec. 31 notice published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

    Although the item is no longer sold in stores, some customers may have kept the product frozen.

    The items were sold in Walmart stores across 20 U.S. states—Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming, with the lot code “BFFG327A6” stamped in front of the bags.
