Good mornin’, and Happy Sunday, kids! I hope everyone is spending some time just chilling over the weekend. We know it’s coming, and they know we know. Here is one that I think Miss We has posted, but I had never seen it in color. if you’re out doing your weekend rat-killin’, sometimes you just don’t have time to sit in line at the Overpriced Snobby Coffee-Making Store, so why not bring it with you? Keep your head on a swivel and Carpe’ your coffee!

National Crossword Solvers’ Day – I love to do medium hard ones like the Sunday NYT ones.

National Brownie Day – aand im conveniently acting the last of some brownies GGS Amadeus on Friday. Go really well with hot coffee.

Pretend to be a Time Traveller Day – encourages us to step from our Tardis or flip open our Omni while wearing clothes from the past. At the same time, we should act appropriately confused by certain technology.

‘Afternoon, czarina! I have to admit that my crossword puzzle prowess topped out with the Highlights version. Just a step or two down from NYT. I am all over the brownies, especially those covered with some Blue Bell ice cream, and I don’t need to be a time traveler to be confused by technology!

I really love brownies, but not so much crosswords. I have trouble pulling up words from my brain.

Good day, Czarina! I think traveling back to the 1950s would be fun, but only if we could also take with us the knowledge of the future. Otherwise we’d likely make all the same mistakes.

James Dean in “Rebel Without A Cause” (1955)…which reminds me that the Griffith Observatory in the Hollywood Hills was used for important scenes in the film…

(a wonderful photo which makes the Art Deco style Observatory look silvery and otherworldly)

Yesterday I saw two things that I wanted to share here. As the mainstream media has finally become aware it is being demonized because of its own actions, it has made some personnel changes, many of which we have noted here. What I saw was efforts to publicize and highlight good actions by journalists (?) such as quality investigative reporting, uncovering of governmental wrongdoing, etc. NBC had Tamron Hall narrating an entire show last night full of short pieces about such triumphs showing good news created by reporters’ acts. The second thing was a newspaper article I did not note if it was AP or UPI, or whom, listing what reporters/journalists do that is not just disseminating info which could be biased, such as water main breaks, school closures, tainted food recalls, and so on.

Interesting their awareness has risen to this need for self- promotion to address middle Americans’ distaste. Two months ago I would not have anticipated changes a they were so proud of their output.

Afternoon All. It rained late yesterday afternoon and some in the night. The temps were a little hiigher than they have been. I had trouble going to sleep last night and finally got up about 2:30 and watched an old Perry Mason show. I have seen them so many times, they put me to sleep. So we didn’t go to church this morning because I was afraid of trying to cross the sidewalks because they were so slick. Two young teenage girls were being pulled around by a dog on a leash like they were on skates. It’s dangerous out there.

Hope you all stay warm and have a nice day.

Trump Tells Putin to Agree to Immediate Cease-Fire in Ukraine After Syria’s Assad Ousted

The president-elect issued the statement Sunday on social media.

President-elect Donald Trump sent a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin following the collapse of the Assad regime in Syria after Islamist opposition fighters captured Damascus. He called for an immediate cease-fire in Ukraine.

“Assad is gone. He has fled his country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday morning. “His protector, Russia, Russia, Russia, led by Vladimir Putin, was not interested in protecting him any longer. There was no reason for Russia to be there in the first place.”

The incoming president added that Moscow had “lost all interest in Syria because of Ukraine, where close to 600,000 Russian soldiers lay wounded or dead, in a war that should never have started, and could go on forever.”
