Devastation in North Carolina following Hurricane Helene

Chimney Rock NC

I happen to follow several families on YouTube who farm in western North Carolina and South Carolina. Fortunately, most of them have sustained minimal damage with the exception of the Justin Rhodes family, who are in the mountains near Asheville on Justin’s heritage family farm. These people are ‘homesteaders’ who were prepared with water, food, fuel, generators etc., but only so much can be done to prepare for a storm of this magnitude. Now is the time for us to help, not second guess or judge.

Justin’s latest report:

Rhodes Hurricane update: We’re ok but the lower farm is destroyed. Lost bees, turkeys, high tunnel, lower pasture, lower gardens, the bridge etc… came within feet of the house. There will be no power for weeks. Video posting will be delayed. Roads are closed but we have our generator with lots of fuel. Grandma and grandpa are safe and we will be able to access them by vehicle soon.

“Grandma” (his wife’s mother) has ALS and usually has daily medical assistance. Their fairly new pole barn is pretty much destroyed by flood waters. Their home – which they just moved back into after extensive rebuilding/remodeling – is literally feet from the pole barn, but escaped damage.

There have been reports of a lack of federal government action to help those who are stranded in the mountains, and that they are trying to PREVENT civilian groups from helping! This report is from Dr. Robert Malone:

One of the most disgusting things has been our government’s response. Although they are unable to get into the areas hardest hit, they have protocols for private citizens to stand down. These protocols are being enforced. So, although our government can’t supply water, food, air support, or rescue missions, in many cases, they are not permitting others with the resources and supplies to do what is needed. Trucks full of water and food are being turned around, and rescue missions are being stopped.

That said, rumor has it that relief is starting to pour in and all around the country; people are chipping in to help.

If you would like to donate to the rescue efforts, here are some of the organizations that are on the ground:

Others:

Baptists on Mission: https://baptistsonmission.org/Mission-Projects/By-Mission-Type/Disaster-Relief/Hurricane-Helene

Grindstone Ministries: https://grindstoneministries.com/

As one civilian rescuer has reported, what they desperately need are helicopters to carry out rescue missions and to take supplies to those who need them. The roads are destroyed or at least seriously obstructed, so that cars and trucks are unable to get in there.

Here in Canada, normally we would be hearing much about a disaster of this magnitude, but there is very little out there. Thanks to our government, we can’t share news articles to FB, but people do find ways around that. There’s almost nothing. I even went onto search engine news tabs for the most recent news. Nothing. I’m learning about it through reels and videos people are sharing, and what I’m hearing is shocking to the extreme.

Most disturbing is what I’m seeing from leftists. Many have been gleeful about how the “racist” right wingers and Trump supporters have been somehow punished by the storm. Others mock the calls for government help saying things like “oh, so now they believe in socialism.” The heartlessness is beyond disgusting.

I haven’t been keeping up with blogs as much as I’d like, so I’m glad you mentioned Justin Rhodes. I’m subscribed to his channel, but he hasn’t been showing up in my feeds. I just checked and a new video has just come out. I’ll be watching that, soon!

He has been posting every day this week – stuff recorded days ago with a current update at the front end. I’m sure he will have more storm footage tomorrow. He now has Starlink, so posting is much easier.
