They jumped from the burning floors—
one, two, a few more,
higher, lower.
The photograph halted them in life,
and now keeps them
above the earth toward the earth.
Each is still complete,
with a particular face
and blood well hidden.
There’s enough time
for hair to come loose,
for keys and coins
to fall from pockets.
They’re still within the air’s reach,
within the compass of places
that have just now opened.
I can do only two things for them—
describe this flight
and not add a last line.

I was fortunate enough to have wondered around Windows Of the World before it opened. I still have the Weekly Reader from school with the towers on the cover being built.

Thank you for the day’s postings on 9/11/2001. As Menagerie also said, it’s a day for solemn reflection.
All I can add is this verse in tribute to all who rose up that day and saved the lives of others, sometimes at the cost of their own.
John 15:12-13

Hurricane will be here later than predicted yesterday, and closer to my house. Now they say about midnight will be the worst.
Waiting for a hurricane is like watching a train wreck replay in very slow motion…

Now moving at 20 mph toward the north. I’ve had light rain and no breezes so far. Prediction of 50 mph winds later but all over by midnight.

So far we’ve lots of rain – one good sized branch down in the back yard – from neighbor’s trash oak.

Moderate rain finally, breezy but not hard winds. The storm has broken up except one large blob of rain still coming my way. I’ll be in the rain for another few hours, but no problems if this is all the wind that’s coming.

I read somewhere here that the earrings Camel-toe wore are communication devices. I looked them up……and evidently they are. An interesting note: I went to the website where they sell them and my cursor wouldn’t move around on it. I checked another website and the same thing happened. My cursor is working just fine everywhere else. So, I believe that the earrings were hearing devices.
