Good mornin’, Miss Wee! We’ll be keeping y’all in our prayers as this things heads towards landfall. HOU might actually miss the brunt of this one although they’re advising everyone to be cautious and possibly expect up to 6-10″ of water if you’re on the HOU-Beaumont side of the map. Out here on the west side they’re telling us maybe 2-4″ of agua.

Started to get wet yesterday afternoon, continued wet overnight, predicted to be wet until Thursday afternoon, with the addition of wind, lots of wind coming soon.
At this moment I am not in the cone, but such things change hourly. The cone means sustained winds could be 75 mph if it is a Category 1, if it passes directly over. The center is currently is drifting east, toward me.
I do not worry about low category storms, because the house is poured concrete with a steel roof, hurricane clips holding the roof on, and 145 mph windows. It is 40 miles inland from the Gulf, and 120’ above sea level. And I have a generator.
Problems include trees falling across my driveway and nearby roads. And Tornadoes.

10 a.m. advisory shows I am now in the cone to possibly have it pass near or over . Don’t worry, there are advisories at 4 p.m. & 10 p.m. and lots of guesstimates before the big show gets going overnight.

I am glad you are not living in a stick built house on the beach. Your concrete walls, metal roof, hurricane clips and safety windows should protect you. Along with our prayers for your safety.

It is in the low 60’s right now. Yesterday it got up to about 94* and stayed warm enough to make my air conditioner run in the evening. It feels very cool now, but will probably be another day of severe sun later in the afternoon. Still nice.
