Amongst the destruction Hurricane Debby brought to parts of the U.S. last week was an incredible piece of WWII-era history.
Suzanne Flament Smith told “People” that she was picking up storm debris in Safety Harbor, Florida, on August 7 when she noticed a corked glass bottle with a handwritten letter inside.

Good mornin’, Miss Wee! Just lookin’ at that picture has me out of sorts, but I can’t wait to see what gets dropped on us today, just a couple days before the nitwits hit Chicago. Glad I went through there two weeks ago. They shouldn’t be able to ping my phone anywhere near there now.

National Rum Day – dark, sweet rum is my favorite
National Tell a Joke Day – A sandwich walks into a bar and says “I’ll have a pint of lager”. The bartender says “Can’t, we don’t serve food”.
National Roller Coaster Day – my mother loved them
National Airborne Day – crazy idea, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. Czar was very happy when he remembered his time in airborne.

I love rum, any kind of rum, but especially coconut rum. My favorite joke: “What is the difference between a duck? A toothpick, because a telephone pole doesn’t have a doorknob.” Somebody told me that when I was a teenager and for some reason, I thought it was the funniest thing I had heard. It still makes me laugh. The funniest part is the look on people’s faces when you tell it. LOL

Juan Merchan has yet again denied Trump’s motion to recuse himself. The standard is that if his “impartiality might reasonably be questioned,” he is to step down. Merchan should recuse himself from such a high-profile case, and his failure to do so is taking the entire position of the rule of law into disrepute worldwide. On that score, the lucrative political work Merchan’s daughter has done for Vice President Kamala Harris should be seen as more significant now that Harris has replaced President Biden as Trump’s Democratic opponent in the upcoming election. This is just outrageous.
