I wonder if the little guy booting Alfredo out means it’s not authentic Italian? I don’t like it anyhow, but admittedly, pasta is way down on my list of favorite foods. I do note that northern Italy gets in on the spaetzle action, and I do love that, thanks to czar’s tutoring on how to flavorfully cook it.

Aldi usually starts stocking a pretty good brand of spaetzle in the fall. If you haven’t used it as a side, or especially in good fall soups and casseroles, you’re missing a treat! I have been known to buy so many packages of it that my pantry has bags of it stuffed in wherever!

IIRC, czar made his own. I’m not that good!

They do make Alfredo in Italy, but it doesn’t have cream in it.

      Good morning, Menagerie!

I went to the tasteatlas.com site and read about 84 pasta dishes before my eyes crossed ( there are more). The poster only shows Italy, but the site has dishes from Croatia, Greece, the US and more.

National Pickleball Day – don’t know anyone who plays.

Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Day – learned about this when I moved to Utah, where everybody grows it and seems there is always too much. The thing to know is don’t plant more than one plant. The solution was A pamphlet with dozens of recipes to use it, from zupineapple to zapplesauce, and egg foo young with zucchini to zucchini bread.

National Mochi Day.- a sweet Japanese Rice Cake. Very colorful.

National Whataburger Day – there is one in Gulfport. I hear they are plentiful in Texas

Global Sleep Under the Stars Day – too hit and sticky here. But the sky is supposed to be good, with meteor showers and a comet. Farther north the aurora might show up.

National CBD Day – still illegal here

National Dollar Day – used one just yesterday

National Happiness Happens Day – cheerful thought for the end of the week.

The National Frozen Custard Day – never ate this much. Grew up on real ice cream.

Good morning, czarina! Old-fashioned frozen custard is absolutely delicious! We have one stand still in operation near where I used to live. My daughter took her husband and son there on their last visit here.

Nearest one to us is in Scottsboro, AL, over an hour away. And when we go there to eat, once or twice a year, it’s because there’s this awesome steak and barbecue restaurant there that costs about half the price of most places.

What to do, what to do…? Can I go down there for just a burger?

Mornin’ All. Chilly and sunny, in the high 50’s with haze over the mountains off in the distance. It is much cooler than it has been for the last few weeks. Very. nice! 🙂

Hope everyone is safe. Some really awful flooding in some areas.

Good grief! Once again the U.S. military is made complicit in setting up dictatorial governments around the world.

There are more than a few people in D.C. who would love to be able to do this openly, as they are doing in the U.K.
